HRAP3 or wait for SA...?

Thanks I pre ordered both, all these sticks are making me poor.

Damn, can’t pre-order from A-S as I’m having troubles with PayPal, similarly can’t from Amazon as they don’t ship to my address. :(!

What is with the EXs always having some wierd ass button layout.

The TE is really nice. I bought one about a week ago and I love it. I’m trying to convince myself that it’s alright to keep the TE, HRAP3, and the HRAP3-SA that I just preordered.:xeye:

i play on my lap so i had to remove the feet because they dig into my skin… i can’t believe Madcatz used red Loctite on those… and once the screws are off, the nut on the other side falls off so i had to open it up to get the nuts out… for some reason, i assumed that the nuts are somehow fixed to the bottom plate since the Street Fighter rep keeps boasting about that feature saying it’s so easy to remove the feet and bolt it to a table… how is someone gonna bolt this to a table of the nuts on the other side are not fixed…

when i opened it up, it is apparent that Madcatz doesn’t want the user playing around in there… every screw that i saw was overly smothered in red Loctite…!

i also noticed that there is a very wide ferrite ring on the on the USB cable… when i watched this Youtube review it didn’t seem there is a ferrite ring on the USB cable… could this be Madcatz’s way to fix the non responding button problem that some xBox users are experiencing…?

Does anybody know if the HRAP 3 SA will be produced in limited quantities?
I couldn’t find any information about that.

I saw this product page on the Japanese Hori site:
http://www.hori.jp/products/ps3/controller/realarc_pro3_sa/
But that’s all I could find and I can’t read/speak Japanese, so I don’t know if it has any information about whether this will be a limited edition or not. “Special” does not necessarily mean “Limited”, right?

SA’s generally aren’t produced in the numbers regular HRAP’s are because of the higher-quality buttons.

Even if Sanwa/Seimitsu cuts a deal with Hori on the pricing of their buttons, which model of stick do you think Hori generally makes more money on? The regular HRAP with their lower-quality buttons of course.

The Sanwa/Seimitsu (for SE) buttons are the whole reason SA’s/SE’s are generally higher-rated.

Sure, having the removable top screws on the plate is great, too, but it’s mainly the arcade buttons that make the SA’s and SE’s stand out.

Those are the reason why importers mark up the SA and SE sticks so much.

Arcade Shock’s price listing is lower because this is supposedly a limited run of the HRAP SA 3 specifically produced for the US. It won’t be any different than the Japanese models already in stock at Japan Video Games and other places. You won’t have to pay $300 for it, either.

As for shipping, I agree A-S could have offered a cheaper option for sure, but it’s not cheap, period, to ship anything the size of a Hori stick without decent insurance, too.

Even at $147 with shipping and handling, this is still a great deal for an SA stick!

I am just glad that HRAP SAs are finally being sold here in the states without horrible markups. $120 is a really good deal for a high quality stick. Hopefully it drives the prices of other sticks down.

what do you mean by this. the layout is the same as the hrap3

he means the button mapping

Its going to cost me 125/$200 delivered to get the Hrap 3SA shipped to me in the UK, does anyone have a fair idea on how much I willl have to pay customs.

Cheers!

must… resist… :amazed:

$120 and free shipping on a HRAP3:SA is a steal, i’m tempted to pick up another one…

UGH i’m in the same boat…

i have a Saulabi and the Hori FS3 but i’ve been wanting a new stick…

wait it out for the SA ($150 shipped from AS) or just get the HRAP3 for $50 less ($100 shipped from amazon)

Order it off of amazon for $$119.99 or build a custom.

If I’d known Amazon was going to carry the stick and offer free shipping, I might have gotten it from them instead of Arcade Shock. I’m still glad I’m getting it just over 50% less than what JVG and a bunch of other places charge for the same damn thing.

I still kind of expect Arcade Shock to beat Amazon to the punch when it comes to shipping the “American” HRAP 3 SA, though.

Specialty shops usually get things in before the mass-market discount places. Almost never fails. GameStop generally gets its exclusives and reserves in before Best Buy does at any rate.

This SA will be the same thing as the Japanese one without the $180 mark-up most domestic importers put on the Japanese import as it is! I suspect the only difference as with the standard HRAP 3 will be the sticker on the bottom of the metal baseplate.

Mark my words, it’s the same hardware, same parts, built in the same factory as the sticks meant for the Asian/Japanese market. I really wouldn’t worry about the price difference and just appreciate that this stick is being officially released over in the States at a very reasonable price!

If you get the SA, I honestly wouldn’t mod it. The regular HRAP 3 is a definite mod, though. I have no problem modding what’s essentially a “Toyota MR2 stick” into a street racing turbocharged stick! You want to get rid of those Hori stock buttons on the regular HRAP’s and put in either Sanwa or Seimitsus ASAP. I went ahead and modded mine further with cap sockets (HATE the carriage bolts) and am planning on putting custom faceplate art under plexiglass when the plexi comes in. So, yeah, you can definitely bring a regular HRAP up to SA standard for sure.

The SA is a different story since it’s perfect as is. You’re getting an all pro-level arcade parts on what’s a limited edition stick that may or may not appreciate in value as time goes on. (To be honest, I don’t think these things will be worth more than $100 10 years from now but for the time being you can probably sell it online for at least $170 used…) You’d only be swapping perfectly good buttons for different colors and unless you plan on reselling the original parts (buttons that came with the stick) here or elsewhere online you’re putting in bad money (for unnecessary mods) after good (buying the SA in the first place).

Just an opinion… It’s your cash to burn, of course.

Just curious, this is my first post here, and my first arcade stick.
I’ve been thinking about getting an arcade stick just for the heck of it for a while, but have been discouraged by high prices of good sticks.

I’ve already pre-ordered from Amazon the HORI Real Arcade Pro 3 SA. I also ordered a Sanwa Black Meshball

Just curious. with the Black and silver/grey colors of the SA:

would y’all think putting a Black Meshball (black and grey (Not the Dark Hai Meshball)) and some Sanwa Dark Hai (black/silvergrey buttons) would look good?

Black case, Silver/grey panel, Black Meshball with some greyish in it, and Dark Hai Black/grey buttons?

EDIT
I didn’t see the post above me due to it not being there before i started registering for this site

I’m tempted to get 2 SA’s (dunno why, maybe it’s Retail Therapy??) and just mod 1, and leave the other one sealed unless someone wants to play me, i dunno

also, Why hasn’t HORI answered TekkenBob on Twitter about the Tekken 6 Wireless stick bundle, i may cancel my order and just get Tekken 6 alone if it’s crap parts (if i’m going to buy my first stick, i want to learn on a GOOD STICK with good parts, I wonder if HORI is being quiet about the Wireless stick parts to not lose preorders if it’s crap parts), but i want that artbook T_T (man, i wish they did it like Tekken 5 where you only had to buy the game alone to get the anniversary Tekken 5 artbook)

my hands hurt from typing now,
oww

EDIT (PART 2)!
DUN NUNNN

oh yah, i chose 1 day shipping on Amazon for only $10 , If you are getting this stick for Tekken 6 release date and from Amazon, i wouldn’t get the Free shipping cause in their FAQ it says it could take FOREVER to be delivered with the free supersavers shipping (possiblility)

hands hurting more
oww wowww

well since you want to put dark hai buttons in your SA then you can just put the white OBSF’s into the Tekken stick as it will most likely have Hori buttons.

Decided, will skip this. Quite tempted, just a tad upset though that my first stick (HRAP3) i got a few weeks ago, if i just replace the buttons, it’s essentially more expensive then what i would pay for the HRAP3SA shipped to AUS from ArcadeShock.

Ah well.
