HRAP2 Modding Guide/Review

Can the Real Arcade Pro 3 buttons be modded with same metod that the HRAP 2?
I ordered 8 x Seimitsu PS-14K but now the HRAP 2 retailer can’t send me the stick and want use the PS-14K for the HRAP 3.

Another question, could the usb be remplaced for a playstation cord?

Yes and No

To answer your second question, you’d have to replace the PCB with a Playstation PCB, preferably Playstation Dual Shock 1.

I’m curious though, where did you get your PS-14-K buttons?

Lil FYI - Wii Hori… @Wal-Mart!!1???

You guys may already be aware, but for those hori modders out there, this stick may be desirable: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=6527180

I can’t remember seeing a cheaper brand new Hori. Wii is probably the last system on anyone’s list of great consoles for fighting games, but regardless, even the shell costs more than $50 when I checked. (I’ll still be using wooden boxes for my best sticks personally; but I may get this stick someday anyhow.)

Shin00bist Edit: The above stick sucks. See post below.

thats not a HRAP dude its more like the ex stick/doa4 stick/vf5 for xbox stick

sucks for modding "/

My bad. I should probably not dabble in things I don’t understand. I normally just build sticks from the ground up. >.>

I bought the orange buttons, others are low in stock.

Damn, no blue PS-14-Ks =\

Ya, it’s an exact replica of the the fighting stick ex. It cannot be modded since the buttons have no microswitches. They simply press down on a circuit board. They’re POS’s, but the only thing I’ve seen for the Wii.

Just modded my HRAP2 with a LS32-02, a sixpack of red OBSF30RGs and 2 OBSF30 as Start and Select Buttons. Works like a charm…

THis thing now is a godlike stick!

Nice, welcome to the club. I’ve done two so far but all sanwas since I don’t like that seimitsu uses leafs for switches or whatever. When I ordered one and saw that I had a horror flashback about the x-arcade. I’m sure they’re top notch but I’ll stick with sanwas.

What shape gate do SF arcade machines use?

Hi,

Does anyone know what shape gate Japanese arcade machines use for SSFT2? I’m guessing square? Perhaps octagonal?

Many thanks,

  • K

As far as I know, there are no Japanese stock arcade machines that use anything but square.

I believe there are a few cabs that use LS-56 w/ octagonal restrictor, but yes, most cabs are square.

I believe it was just a small handful of obscure shmups from the early 90’s that used octagonal

Is it possible to put Semitsu sticks into this thing?

And is it hard?

I managed to actually put buttons into my stick, but it was pretty easy, but changing the stick intimidates the shit out of me.

;_;

Almost all Seimitsu sticks should fit in the HRAP2. The only one that doesn’t is the LS-33. The LS-32 is usually considered their best stick.

Just check out my HRAP2 guide. Its step by step with pictures =)

Great thread, I’m stepping into the realm of my first mod, and this guide is helping me feel more confident about it.

I’m curious though, can this guide be used step by step to mod an HRAP 3?? I’ve read that all HRAPs are basically identical, but I’d rather hear first hand.

Thanks!

^ The HRAP3 isn’t the same as most HRAPs. The mounting plate on it only allows a JLF to be put i there. To put the LS32 in there would require some modification to the mounting bracket.
