HRAP 2 Modding Tutorial

You should probably make your own thread for this. This thread is only about the HRAP2

Seimitsu PS-14-KN Pushbutton

Just in case anyone is wondering. I just modded my hrap2 with 6 Seimitsu PS-14-KN Pushbuttons. They all fit fine a work well. The only hang up is the button closest to the joystick (jp). The washer will not fit unless you widdle/sand away a tiny portion of it. Once that is done it slides perfectly under the joystick mount and you can screw the button down through the now static washer.
Buttons seem great. I’m no pro, but I can tell they’re definitely better than the ones that come stock. My only other frame of reference are the happ competitions (which are fantastic), but I prefer both Seimitsu and Sanwa to happ.

Question regarding use of the Sanwa LB-30-N Joystick Bat Top

Have any of you modded your hrap2 with this bat top? If so, were any of you able to keep the top on permanently? After a few sessions of playing, the bat top is always unwinding…is this normal? Is the bat top supposed to lock into position like the original stock Japanese ball? If it is, I can’t figure how to lock it into position even with pliers. Any help would be greatly appreciated and yes im using the “joystick adapter” to connect the bat top to the hori.

It’s supposed to stay on like the stock ball, so if it still gets loose even after tightening it alot, try to add something to make the top stay. There were a few posts on this somewhere in the forums. I believe one of them said that you can use nail polish remover. Just apply to the threads of the part that gets loose.

Albert I love your HRAP 2, it plays like a beast!

oi, just wanted to say thanks again for this. modded a hrap1 and didnt even need to come back in here for anything 8).

I put the Seimitsu PS-14-KN buttons in my HRAP 2.

They all fit except for the X button, but it worked out okay because I just tightened it on top of the metal stick mounting plate instead of the bacl of the face. It’s tight and isn’t moving.

I suppose one could also sand down the screw-in part so it doesn’t touch the stick, but I really did not feel like sanding down plastic last night and liek I said, it’s just as tight as any of my other buttons.

For the rest of my mod, I kept the stock Sanwa JLF stick but put in the sanwa octagonal restrictor and a seimitsu bubble top. the buttons were obviously seimitsu ps-14-kn’s and the start/select were screw in 24mm clear seimitsus. I covered up the L buttons with some yenox hole plugs. This guide was incredibly helpful/essential.

Glad my guide helped =)

Absolute top-tier tutorial. Followed your guide, modified my hrap2 w/ all seimitsu parts. I just have one question, I used PS-14-KN buttons, but I opted not to screw on the lug on the last button closest to the X, should I be concerned?

I guess your only concern would be the button falling out and dangling by the wires. Just make sure it doesn’t get pulled out.

When you put the Seimitsu LS-32-01 in does it sit at the correct mounting height? I think it is supposed to be almost flush with the control panel unlike Sanwa JLFs which sit almost a centimeter below it.

I know the LS-32-02 does.

I used PS-14KN’s, check out my above post

Seimitsu LS-32-01 (LS-32-02 is the PCB model number I think) mounts correctly. It should come with an S mounting plate(mine did =P) that helps mount it at the right height.

Hey I just modded mine with a LS-32-02 and the left side is tighter than the right side ! Did I do something wrong or is it the stick ?

That’s odd. Unless you mounted it incorrectly, it should be the stick’s problem.

I opened again to see what is wrong and it’s just one switch giving too much tension ! It shouldn’t be like that… should it ?

Nope, unless there’s something I’m missing

Here is what it’s gonna look like:

Too bad one switch was defective on the LS-32-02 (had to put the stock Sanwa back). So, I’m gonna see if I can send it back as soon as possible to Chad from lizardlick and get a new LS-32-02(01).

EDIT: He got me covered ! He will be sending me a new one tomorrow.

That’s Chad for you. Great customer service =)
