very helpful guide. i’ll be using it as soon as i get my sticks. i just bought 2 HRAP2’s. one for me and one for my wife. i’m new to the whole modding scene and i was wondering where you got those button’s from. i would really lilke to get some pink ones for my wife and some blue ones for myself. thanks.
I bought all my parts from Per (Akihabarashop.com). He has a thread in this forum.
The parts you’re looking for are Blue and Pink Seimitsu PS-14-K buttons. I don’t quite remember, but I think Per said that Seimitsu PS-14-Ks are going OOP. Check with him on that =P.
hey i used your guide to mod my hrAP 2 i must say it really helped out a lot, thanks. questions though, in the beginning of the tutorial it says you were using Seimitsu LS-32-01 but later in the tutorial it says LS-32-02.
Whats the difference between the two? Which one is better? and which one is used in Japanese cabinets (like in SBO)?
Sorry, I meant the LS-32-01. I’m not really sure, but LS-32-02 is the number of the PCB for the stick. IIRC, I believe they use LS-32-01 sticks for SBO.
Thanks for letting me know. Fixed the tutorial =P
Whats the difference between using screw-ins and snap-ins? The two HRAP2’s that I have I used snap-ins.
Well, I believe screw-ins are made for mounting buttons on thicker panels like ones on wood cabinets. Just stick with snap-ins for HRAP2s. They’re made for metal panels like those found in HRAP2s and are less of a hassle to install. You’re not missing much except Seimitsu buttons with clear plungers.
I haven’t tried it personally, but from what I’ve gathered on these forums, I’ve heard that they work fine. Some say that you need to sand down every nut (just a tiny bit), while others say that they screw on just fine without any problems.
hey guys, this a really helpful faq.
I have a kind of noobish question, but it needs asking…
I assume the normal action buttons are 30mm, but what are the sizes of the start/select buttons? I was looking at the Seimitsu PS-14-KN buttons for the normal buttons but was unsure about what buttons to buy for start/select. Are they 24mm?
Also, if the Seimitsu PS-14LKN’s don’t work, would the Sanwa OBSF-30’s work with this stick?
I’m pretty new at this whole modding thing, any help is appreciated.
You’ll want 24mm for start/select and both PS-14-KN and Sanwa OBSF-30’s will work with the HRAP2, although you may have a bit of trouble screwing on the PS-14-KN
Thanks, much appreciated.
This is a great guide.
Well, I don’t know if this helps or not seeing how I have a HRAP1, but the PS-14-KN’s fit, although very, very tightly. I screwed them in by hand as much as I could, and they work just fine.
Clear blue buttons and a blue bubble top…Looks so cool!!!
^ that’s actually exactly what I was going to put in too.
I have a quick question if you don’t mind !
I heard it’s easier to dash with the Seimitsu LS-32-01 compared to the Sanwa sticks because of the throw. Is that the case ?
That would be a question of preference, so I can’t really answer that one. I have an HRAP2 and an T5 stick with an Seimitsu LS-32-01 and an Sanwa JLF installed respectively. I have no problems dashing with either stick. The only thing I can really tell you here is that the Seimitsu LS-32-01 has a shorter throw, a slightly firmer spring, and has more of a “square” feeling. With the Sanwa, I don’t find myself riding the walls of the square restrictor as much as I do with my Seimitsu LS-32-01
I’m still getting used to dashing to the left side on my stock HRAP2 joystick in some situations. I believe it could be because of the dead zone…
How is the dead zone on the LS-32-01 compared to the HRAP2’s Sanwa ?
Smaller, but not by much.
I see… thanks again TingBoy.
I should be modding my HRAP2 this month with the LS-32-01 and OBSF-30 buttons.
Sounds good. Post it up when you’re done =).
Has anybody pic of HRAP3 USB PCB with mark in +5v and GND?
