a good cable could lock you down for days with doom rocks, drones, storm whirlwind assist, blackheart. he could semi-rush you down with cyclops or psylocke (he had a short short combo with her too…short short psyblade, OTG lk mk AHVB)
a great cable could be his own anti-air since throwing nades could be canceled into psimitar…though the rest of the top 4 still stomped him towards the end of MvC2 Cable needed buffs more than nerfs
anyways, since there doesn’t seem to be alot of mid-air traps in this game (im basing all of this off of my short vanilla experience, feel free to correct me if I am wrong) his variety assist would probably be a good anti-teleport assist depending on startup speed
Wesker, Dante, Vergil, Strider, Strange, Deadpool, Dormammu and Rocket Raccoon would FEAST on him.
I might be asking for trouble stating this, but one of the main reasons Cable was GT in MvC2 was because of limited mobility by most of the cast. It’s not the case here as it’s significantly harder to lock down and opponent by Zoning, and one quick 'port can change the momentum of a match. If they wanted to put Cable back in the game, he’d have to get the overhaul.
Viper Beam & HVB would have to have reduced movement on the beam, the grenades would work more like Chris’ arsenal, his rush punch would have to have projectle invincibility or made into a combo-extender (to make it a viable move,) his air shot would be forward :h:, he’d have to have Hawkeye’s Magic series, he’d have to be limited to three gunshots on the ground…
It would be cool because the 'nade works differently than peakaboo does. It would almost certainly have a fair bit of durability too, so some potential to anti-zone.
I’m pretty sure it’s caused by the fact that you can combo into a grab with an assist by letting them get hit or block an assist either at the same time or one frame before you grab them. Then they can’t tech it.
I honestly don’t know, I looked it up in the sentinel forums, you could follow it up sometimes in vanilla, but there’s no mention either way for ultimate.
There are a number of supers you can follow up (obviously not counting XF), but they’re either in super specific situations, like Akuma volley>air fireball>beam, are designed for followups, or are obvious bugs/oversights like the finishing shower>TAC trick.
Something like AHVB self-chaining is a whole different beast, imo.
Harddrive loops still work. Hard drive loops are situational though and only for combos and not for raw hard drives because of how “random” hard drive is outside of combos for hit confirms.
Yes because in the end blowing 3 meter to kill one character means LESS in umvc3 than it does in mvc2. In fact that would probably end up being a day 1 combo that people would eventually decide was not worth the meter.
Cable in Ultimate with an updated movelist would be godlike. I’m thinking if this were possibility, then his grenades could be similar to chris’, but the difference would be something like “:l: = shortest distance; low to the ground, instant startup (on the explosion trap), invincibility on like the first 4 frame or some thing, anti-air, otg normal/super/hyper canceable | = slightly further distance (about midscreen, but not all the way), instant startup, but no invincibility, otg, normal/super/hyper canceable | :h: = furthest distance and bounces off the wall if button is held, anti air normal/super/hyper canceable” then something along the lines of like they all do the same amount of damage and hitstun
IDK. In MvC2 there weren’t as many teleporters in the game. So Cable could lock down, keep out, and dominate the horizontal space in front of him on the lower screen. In Ultimate, a lot of guys have teleports over Cable’s head or behind him.
AHVBxwhatever would only be worth it in Ultimate for happy birthdays. Remember, you could get meter in 2 by whiffing attacks. In Ultimate, meter is far more precious. However, I suppose an AHVB>XF>AHVB would kill whomever.
EDIT* Would love to couple him with Tatsu, Vajra, Shopping Cart, or Missiles.
Time Flip as a Level 3 and with Astral Magic-like properties would make sense.
Psimitar would probably lose invincibility as an assist
:qcf::k: would undoubtedly wall bounce
Overhead would probably be the same.
Remember, his air normals were pretty tough. jumping fierce :k: had some wicked range and priority. It could cross up from where it didn’t look like it could.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
In 2, a few of his moves would OTG but I can see those moves not OTGing anymore (in MvC2 even his :qcf::k: would hit otg). I wonder if they would simply not give him the ability to self OTG?
