they’d change cable drastically to fit their direction and the new system. ahvbxn wouldn’t likely make it in. his combos would very likely become a little more involved than abcsuper or gungungun+assistscimitarsuper, evolving into virtually most of his moves being used in his combos, like crackdown being used more often. i’d put money on timeflip being WAAAY more important in his combos than ahvb. ahvb combos would probably only come into play with xfactor or dhcing into someone else, but otherwise, be just as effective at frying assists and punishing as any other mvc3 beam super. his goals wouldn’t change much if at all, but how he goes about achieving those same goals would. the mvc3 team seems to try to capture the essence of a character and incorporate that into a characters playstyle. given that cable is a time jumper and not just a gun-toting, grenade tossing soldier, i’d like to see how they’d include time travel or time manipulation into his gameplay (outside of timeflip). that’d be interesting. cable with timeports?!:eek:OH NOES!
He’d start wearing a purple mask and swap out his gun for a bow and arrow.
how do they work in this game? the same way as previous ones? only one block per normal jump?
I’d kill for Cable to be MvC3 DLC.
That said, I think he’d be sick, and the people who have posted here have pretty much nailed why. Even if he couldn’t chain AHVB, as long as it didn’t have recovery on the air version, he’d be fine.
Changes I’d like to see:
- Crackdown causes soft knockdown, hard knockdown, wallbounce; depending on strength. (OTGs)
- One of the grenade strengths is a fake, but still slowing his ascent and allowing him to recover very quickly. (Instant overhead set-ups? :D) (Grenades OTG)
- Command grab changed to actually be a grab. Make one of the versions cause wallbounce.
- Time Flip should be an invincible, locking level 3.
- Viper Beam should have a strength that charges it, causing more damage and hits the longer it is charged. (Think Jill’s heavy shoulder rush from MvC2)
Yeah… that sounds fun.
EDIT: NickGuy, as a fellow Cable enthusiast, I’d like to ask if you have tried playing Hawkeye in UMvC3? If not, he may make you appreciate the game a lot more, as he did for me.
Gimlet is a great “stop doing stupid shit” hyper, much like AHVB was in MvC2. I think MvC3 drastically needed that.
Why are you so certain they wouldn’t? linking multiple hypers in a row isn’t even good in this game.
Which is why Wolverine, Taskmaster, Vergil and Arthur(?) can all do it perfectly fine without Capcom seeming to care at all?
You can do it with sentinel in vanilla but there was no reason to
He’d probably be the best zoning character in the game. Obviously the AHVB tiger knee thing would be taken out.
If it wasn’t he’d be broken as hell. Imagine it… save him as an anchor, LVL3 X factor plus AHVB!
A lot of people say Hawkeye is similar, and I guess he is kinda. Still though, Cable is just cooler.
I am sure because that’s how they work, its not about it being good or not. Linking AHVB is all about its insanely fast startup anyways, which in this game would not be allowed to stand, so we’re kind of out of luck anyways. There are some hypers that you can continue (some of which are specifically designed to be able to, like Fists of Fury), but none of them are horizontal beams and most of them require extremely specific setups or level 3’s, and that makes a huge difference. The closest was HSF>RP>HSF, which they nerfed.
I’d picture HVB working like a horizontal version of “Spell of Vishanti”, trading that vertical tracking for the ability to actually dhc out of it…
Edit: I’d say hawkeye, while an obvious comparison, isn’t THAT similar. Cable would be much more direct, and go for fast projectiles instead of high dur/tricky ones.
But they took it out anyways. Tells you something about how they feel on the subject.
There’d also be the argument that chaining beams is a bit too dominant in Cables Gameplan in MvC2, and they’d keep it out for the same reason they nerfed Lariat and She-Hulk’s Torpedo
As long as it stays constructive like this, I’m going to let this one slide…
(I aware of the longtime Cable diehards on SRK, even they need a corner to honor their MvC2 hero)
Oh, I know. As a whole character, they are pretty different aside from being zoning based.
I played Cable in MvC2 because that game has a lot of bullshit that was effectively neutralized by AHVB. When MvC3 came out and presented a metric ton of bullshit, I was admittedly pretty upset at just how little people had to think about some of the things they did. I think Hawkeye changes that, and that’s why I play him. Similar reasons, that’s all really.
Both Iron Man and Dooms projectile assist in MvC2 weren’t great, and everyone used the anti-air assist instead. In MvC3/UMvC3 though, their projectile assists are amazing. I think it would be the same for Cable. His beam assist could make
him a good assist character also.
I actually used Cable’s beam assist in MvC2. It was a bootleg Whirlwind for lockdown purposes for when I played Magneto, and it let me combo after Charlie’s overhead when I was feeling saucy.
In Vanilla you could do air combo-rocket punch xx HSF rocket punch xx HSF TK Hard Drive TK rocket punch xx Hard Drive rocket punch xx Plasma Storm.
The swag is the reason to, of course.
I just realized that of all of the S-Tier characters in Marvel 2, I’ve seen Cable the least and know about him the least. What did he do in that game besides AHVBs?
I honestly don’t know how they work in this game except they are still really cheap with amaterasu assist.
i mean besides the obvious like command grab and counters
Even if hitstun proration meant that he couldn’t do as many AHVBs in one combo, the high damage would likely mean that he wouldn’t have to do as much. Combine that with X-Factor and you could probably kill off some characters with 3 AHVBs.
Chaotic flame and akuma’s air beam are the fastest horizontal (or mostly horizontal) beams right?
