How to use the TE stick?!

that is a strange one. most people have better success using the 2p side.

try starting off small. cr.lk->SA. if you can land that 99.99% of the time, move it up. cr.lp, cr.lp->SA. once you are landing that 99.99% of the time…move up the chain.

When I think of Cammy’s BnB, I think of c.LK -> c.LP, c.LK XX Spiral Arrow. But you mentioned having a Fierce come out by accident, so I’m not sure… which BnB are you talking about??

The one you just mentioned c.lk,c.lp,c.lk xx SA. I get a standing hk sometimes when I try and get the sa out.

I already give up using the arcade stick when I play Cammy. But I still wanna practice my ‘skills’ on the TE stick when I use Chun-Li. I think Chun needs it, but Cammy is doable using the xbox controller even for tournament matches.

That means you are hitting HK either too late or hitting it too many times. If the Combo doesn’t work, most of the time, you’ll just end up with c.LK into nothing.

Listen to what spektrum said. It’s pretty much spot on. Practice the parts until you get them consistently, and then try to string them together.

Strangely, I think it’s the opposite. I’ve seen Shizza play and he’s AWESOME on the Mad Catz pad and he uses Chun. I think since Chun is mostly charge-based, she’s much easier on the pad than Cammy. I feel like Cammy is a must on the stick.

stick>pad

I’m a TE stick convert, all hail the click click click box

I honestly don’t see how anyone can play a fighting game on a pad. Maybe it’s because I grew up in arcades? I dunno, but I can’t even do a fireball on pad, let alone other things.

My advice? If you’re trying to switch, just switch. Don’t go back to pad at all. Chose one, preferably a stick, you’ll get the hang of it eventually.

Like I mentioned before, I actually had a conversation with a coworker that went like this:

Me: “You keep letting go of the joystick when you do Fireballs. You don’t need to move the joystick that far and hard.”

Him: “I can’t help it.”

Me: “Well, just use it like you played the games in the arcade. Gentle motions.”

Him: “I’ve never played in an arcade.”

Me: “What?!?”

Him: “I’ve never used a joystick in my life. This is the first time I’ve ever used a joystick.”

Me: “WHAT?!?”

Made me feel hellllllla old. Man. But yeah, this is actually the first time some of these people have EVER touched a joystick. So keeping that in mind, I understand why they have so much difficulty and keep that in mind when I try to help converts out.

Great, now I feel old, too. Thanks James! LoL…

Yeah I’ll be keeping at it, had a fair run today, went about even with a ryu who loves his crossup hijinks.

Btw charge chars are actually a little easier on the stick, in fact its because of it that I am able to even use Bison as a secondary. Used to be I could never do a charge char super/ultra. Well that and other things lol.

PS: Never got to be in an arcade beyond the mini one in chukie-cheese when I was a kid and that doesn’t count. Michigan blows for being the backwards capitol of the world lol.

Made me feel super old too…and I’m only 17, what kind of shit is that? :[

Hello everyone, this is my first post in the cammy forum but it surely wont be the last.

I need some help in the weirdest place. i have some theory fighter for you guys that happens alot to me. Lets say you crossed someone up and they missed their shoryu. I try to punish by walking forward to catch them, then cr.mk xx HK SA. Well what comes out alot is cr.mk cannon spike, and i go flying.

…(insert balrog ultra combo here ftl)

is it my fault? i feel like i can do most of cammys other stuff, but this kills me lol. is it just my execution or is there a SA input i can use to make sure i hit it? I think i am getting a c. Spike because i was holding forward from walking. i don’t know how to fix something like that.

Thanks for any input guys.

yeah you have to be careful… this happens if you “walk” forward then c.mk, SA… the SA part will come out as CS…

the game will register walking forward as part of the SA motion

for the game the input is registered as something like:

:r::d::mk::qcf::hk: = c.mk, HK CS

There’s a video somewhere on youtube that shows Daigo using an arcade stick. He walks forward, puts the stick in neutral, then low forward -> fireball. It’s ridiculous.

It usually comes from hitting the button a tad too early. You end up doing the entire DP motion and if you hit the button slightly before reaching :r:, you’ll DP instead. Normally this doesn’t happen 'cause most people DP starting from Neutral.

You can actually solve this problem in SFIV by delaying your button press. The Low Forward Hit Stun is actually quite long, so whenever I do walking Low Forward into Spiral Arrow, I really delay my button press for the Spiral Arrow. You can really feel yourself doing the full :qcf: motion and still hit the button late and have it come out as Spiral Arrow and still Combo. Try it out in Training Mode.

Once you get that, it’ll happen far less often. I almost never have that happen to me anymore. It only happens to me when I am walking forward and need to pull out an EX Spiral Arrow super fast. Out comes the EX Cannon Spike and I eat a Fireball.

Well the thing is I have to use the stick to do Chun’s combo’s into ex legs. And it is like impossible to do a HK lightning legs with her on a 360 pad. The shoulder buttons are sooooo f*cked up.

I play Cammy (and everyone else) using the standard 360 pad and I have NO IDEA why people think it is hard to play with the 360 pad with her at all. What is difficult about it? Tk strikes?? FA xx tk strike?? CS xx FADC CS FADC xx ultra?? cr. lk, cr.lp, cr lk xx spiral arrow? I really have no problems doing them on the standard 360 pad. I won from Emraistlin during championship mode so it’s not like I have no idea what Im talking about (doesnt mean that I am better than Em, just an example).

However, I still can’t do CS xx FADC xx ultra consistently on the TE stick which really really frustrates me!! I cant even do a simple jump in 3 hit CS combo (withougt luck) -_- I feel like a BIG FOOL =( Sigh…

Btw JChensor, thanks for explaining the cr.mk xx spiral arrow thingie. When I do it for punishing a DP or somehting I often get a cr.mk xx spike too which is also very frustrating. I’ll try to do it based on your method.

Ah, that makes huge sense. Again, Shizza uses the MadCatz pad, so the 6 buttons are on the face, so yeah, Roundhouse Lightning Legs isn’t a problem for him. I can see it being a huge problem on a standard 360 pad.

And don’t worry about the difficulties of using the stick. It takes practice. Keep sticking with it. If you go into details about how you are having trouble and what usually happens when you try something like a simple Jump-in Combo, maybe I can try and help to see what you might be able to do to improve that.

Maybe I should play with the TE stick until SSF4 comes out? If I still hate the stick by that time I shall give up ;p

But it means I have to start all over again. Even scrubs will do better than me (not like I care but still… its no fun).

However… I am the topic starter (can u imagine it???) so I feel quite bad if I am the only one who give up on the beautiful stick. Thanks James for your patience. I will start to play all over again using the stick only and, even though it will be sooooooo hard, I won’t switch back to 360 pad (I feel a lil bit awkard though, why TE stick if I have no probs using the 360pad…). Oh well, I guess SF is designed to play on the sick so I have to deal with it. And that will come in handy when I go back to Japan for holidays ;p

Wow, great replys everyone. I will make sure to slow down my SA now. This helps alot.

Chunner - I also play a bit of bad, but there are some serious walls there too. How do you do TKCS s.hp CS FADCB ultra on a pad O_o those shoulders kill me. Also I have some serious trouble doing hooligans on a pad. At first i even thought my pad was broken, but I cant do it on my friends pad either lol.

I used the keyboard, a fightpad, a xbox 360 controller and a TE stick.

I wish I had bought the TE stick right from the start
It really is the best option available.

But in the end, it all comes down to personnal preferences.
