Dorm is fun when you give him an odd assist. Haggar spin gives me more combo options, so does bolts of balthakk, actually, but I run Strange with Nemesis (it’s a birthday machine). I just picked up my scrubby-ass strange because I think bolts is one of the best assists in the game, at the very least top 10. I’m finding him a lot of fun, more for the oodles of chip one can pump into a baddie than anything else.
Oh, and the logic behind pie vs. eye is that pie is delicious, and Strange gets distracted enough to fail his concentration check. Wesker gunshot…that’s because Wesker is dumb.
And yeah, wow, infinites, I’ll use those when I learn the Taskmaster one, but I’m finding that more than slightly annoying to do.

Dude, but Dorm is fun! Pillars…hands…wall bouncing horizontal projectiles…top 5 1 bar super…SHIT EVERYWHERE ALWAYS…youre right,the tridash is brainless. But it’s all about his zoning. That’s where I have fun. Predicting the opponents next move and answering appropriately is such an awesome feeling because I know it’s demoralizing to them. In fact, I treat him almost the same as Strange. Plus teleporters are soooo gnarly.
I have a lot of spell combos. I think Dorm + missiles is kind-of like cheating, you don’t have to even play a good neutral game to win. At least with regular dorm one has to use his cheap stuff with some semblance of intellect.
And yeah, I came up with some odd Dormammu combos using Haggar spin and/or Rapid Slash, he’s got some unqiue stuff there, just people don’t get to see it because the simple stuff is damaging enough to win anyway.
Dorm totally has combo variety. And his zoning is fun.
I’m pretty sure if Strange’s teleport could crossup in the corner or we found a 100% working way to make it so, TACs would pretty much make it so we don’t have to play neutral at all with Strange. Just get them into the corner, TAC into Strange, kill the character if he’s bleeding, then TK EoA raw tag and mixup the incoming character (easy if you have Derpgil or Magneto). If he’s still more or less healthy and you don’t wanna burn the bar for lvl 3, mixup with some assist and combo into another FoF loop or TAC into some infinite. Rinse and repeat until you win. That SHOULD be the scenario if he could easily crossup in the corner, but alas.
THAT would make Strange top tier imo, the fact that you can abuse his ability to play musical chairs with characters in order to set up high damage TACs (thanks to the FoF loop) or go into the infinites. Strange has the easiest and probably the most efficient way of doing that thanks to lmpact Palm, lol. 6f startup and doesn’t afraid of hitstun deterioration. Boss.
What I CAN do now though if I really want your character dead (no crossing up necessary) is TAC into Strange, unfly, blah blah, Palm xx Flame twice, launcher, Impact Palm into Magneto infinite. lol. No need for resets, just a 3-way guess. TAC mechanic is dumb as hell but I love it because it gives Strange purpose.
DoD is pretty random actually. There’s no set location where the disc will spawn. Sometimes it’ll go right above the opponent’s head and not push them out, which is stupid. To guarantee it you pretty much need to be right at the edge of the screen, and not all situations will allow that. I guess you can adjust it mid-FoF loop so you can do it, though. Trying to see what else I can get off a raw Flame to make the opponent tech.
Yeah I’ve seen that happen before, but it seemed like at a certain proximity it would always choose to spawn at like a 45 degree angle from Strange. I could be tripping.
Not playing Dr Strange in the neutral game is
not doing the character any justice.
You aren’t learning match ups that way and it really
doesn’t advance the character.
Dr Strange is the best battery in the game.
I woulda never developed solo resets or advanced techniques
or spacing his normals if I didnt play him on point.

yeah, i feel like strange is the most un-explored character of my mains, and my experience with him is progressing the slowest. it’s because my first two characters end up killing everyone! i think i’m gonna start tagging in strange when my opponent’s down to their last character so he can get a workout, too.
Whatever works. Play to win. It’s not like I’m completely helpless when I have to play Strange’s neutral, I played the dude on point for months up until like March when I decided to play him second. Saying “not playing his neutral does him no justice” is like saying Firebrand players are frauds for doing the snap loop over and over to win instead of resetting the opponent a million times in neutral.
My style of constantly swapping him in and out is definitely a step forward, imho because it is a definite playstyle. It’s something: it’s a niche playstyle only Strange falls under, like Morrigan with Bullet Hell. I don’t know anyone else who is playing him the same way I am (maybe Serp) and it’s certainly a lot different and much better than when I was starting out last November.
Strange is a utility character in my eyes as well as those who currently play him second or on anchor. Kudos to the point Strange players, but imho that is just not the way forward anymore. It’s like playing a scarier version of point Sentinel-- okay with two assists, but not really as threatening as point Mags, Zero, or Viper. You also lose his superb utility value if he dies early. And it’s not gonna win you a tournament unless you really put in the work.
I have been on the track that Strange is the best character for abusing the system mechanics of the game-- X-Factor, DHCs, THCs, and TACs. No other character has the luxury of a near-instant super, high damage and amazing meter build, and a fast normal that ignores HSD and allows you to go into TACs very far into the combo. I dunno about you guys, but I choose to focus on his best points and amplify it by abusing said mechanics instead of forcing myself to overcome his problems. Either way, I’m prepared for any situation where Strange is in play.
By the way, why does nobody use glyphs? I love these things!
I generally try to get 3Y stacked in a corner of the screen and use those as a mean of pressuring my opponents psyche. If you´re a screen away from the glyph stack and you´re able to fire a FoF your opponent is basically helpless for 3 seconds. It´s a ghetto flame carpet that may net you a kill combo if the beam crumples. I love to catch overly offensive players with this move as they always seem to think the flame will vanish offscreen. The beam is so hard to avoid after the flame if out that there´s not much offense they can risk.
point strange would be no good on my team because my two other assists are dark harmonizer and jam session. believe me, i’ve thought about it.
at least, i haven’t found anything with strange and jam session.

I always have lots of fun spaming the screen with BS while lol’ing at characters without an answer for it. They deserve it cause they are not picking Dr Strange to fight Dorm as in the comics lol
