i could use a new guide for matchups against the new cast
I’m still learning them myself. Plus I’m realizing that knowing a matchup vs a good player is not the same as knowing a matchup vs poor players. Guile is VERY easy for me to beat except when playing extremely good players. Same goes for characters like Viper, Sagat, Honda, etc etc. So I think a lot of people think they know a matchup, then fight someone on a higher level and realize EVERYTHING they knew about the match wasn’t true.
So, with that said, I’d personally need a lot more experience to write a real matchup guide.
yeah i know what you mean. 90% of the guiles on PSN dont play him correctly. All we have to do is block the SB walk up and they walk themselves to the corner.
-hes not hard to win with ,unless youre doing something careless. I have some proof in some of my vids.
-Fei/honda matchup (far as i’ concerned ) is in Feis favor…there is nothing honda can do that is safe, not e ven lp or EX headbutt. All versions of hheadbutt can be countered with Rekkas. Use EX rekkas on the EX and LP Headbutts after block. Honda has no choice but to win with normals and ocho. just hit honda and turtle.(yes, turtle)
Im going to start recording vids again soon once i get my lap back.
Matchups against the new char is good, no probs as much ,
Fei hard match es are still guile blanka, boxer, dictator.
Fei’s Super is my ultra. It’s just so damaging and easy to use. It practically combos from anything and is so fast that people can’t react to it. Biggest plus IMO is that it makes focus attack a threat (that’s if you play a certain person enough times to make them fear FA). Lvl 3 FA > dash forward > tenshin > super. Goodbye more than 50% life right there. Nothing is as demoralizing to the opposing player at the beginning of a match than having a full super bar and whacking off their life like that. Even a superior player will get jolted getting hit for that much.
I am still a bit unconvinced about how match-ups are really gonna look vs. the new cast in 2 months from now. Then again, I would really like to see how the new characters play offline vs. Fei in a long sparring match rather than just tournament settings or worst, online (can’t block Dudley’s charging punches even though I’m sure i pressed back before they connect visually).
I’ll admit that the loss of player match (between 2 players indefinitely) has hurt my game though. Don’t really get a chance to figure out how to get out of traps from less oft used characters.
I will admit I do see far less shotos though so my chance of practicing against non-shotos has gone up tremendously.
There is a way around that, instead of destroying the competition and going for the win, hang back and let the other guy try stuff out. Attack properties are the same as long as they can execute normals and specials. Fall for their baiting a bit and for lack of a better term, get beat up. Trying different attacks while you are getting beat-up lets you learn what has priorities over what and what your own viable options are (as in your physical limits in terms of reaction speed).
this is the exact reason i take 90% of match up threads that contain anything outside of what to punish what with and what they can punish you with, with a grain of salt.
I need to get finals from my tournament last weekend up so you can see a Honda that claims to be one of the best in the US. Anyway I think Honda Fei is even. You can punish headbutt but a good Honda isn’t going to be doing anything but LP headbutt up close to beat your stuff and if you aren’t stand blocking, you can’t punish. So then he knows this and can start using cr.LK into hands more. Honda’s st.HP chop makes poking at him extremely dangerous, especially when he has super, as well as throwing out limbs and getting hit by cr.lp hands super…
I’d say, if Fei has the life lead, it’s 6-4 in fei’s favor but if honda has the life lead it’s 4-6. You also REALLY need to win your first match vs Honda because he’s going to pretty much get a free round when he gets super in the later rounds. That shit does like 50-60% depending on what he comboed it off of and he gets it EASY.
We have 2 good Hondas here, one of them knows how to get in your head…
Best Honda in US?
we need to have a best chAr tourney at EVO or FINAL ROUND one day for stuff like that.
E veryone enjoy the Juri handicapp while you can…one more week till the patch sets in…
Yeah that’d be awesome. I’ve always wanted to fight it out for best Fei. I haven’t met one yet that’s really given me trouble.
I think Juri will still be pretty easy for Fei… he does very well at punishing her and zoning the bitch. She also dies on wakeup and Fei does well there. I need to fight some good Juris though, I could be wrong. Just playing her myself, I don’t see how she would handle a good Fei… he has a lot of the tools that give her problems.
play Derrick Legend some time. I personally think he has one of the better Juri’s on PSN. I dont know the matchup well but he gave me a rough time. (most likely cuz i suck)
Is that his PSN name? I’ll add him tonight. Was just thinking of adding Floe or someone but I doubt he’d play randoms that just add him.
its Derrick-LegenD
yeah i doubt Floe will play casuals with random people. Or at least rarely.
This was great.
Thank you for this thread.
I learned most of the stuff while playing, but some stuff I would’ve never known.
I didn’t know things like connecting Cr.LP > Rekkas after counter hit F+MK. I usually do the motions anyway to catch them trying to react to the overhead, but didn’t know it can actually combo.
Thanks again.
No problem, glad it helped you! Writing this was well worth the trouble to see so many people getting new info from it. I should add to it considering I’ve learned a lot since then… maybe one day when I’m not lazy lol.
yea his juri is pretty decent. I ran into him 7 times in a row in ranked lol very close matches but I used Guy the whole time, not fei…
mirror matches never determine who is better with the character than the other person…
Also juri isn’t nearly as free as you guys think she is lol…
Samurai you managed to get a few games with Derrick yet?
Now I just gotta learn how to FADC
