How to: Hand Paint Your Balltops

what would be better on the balltop? having the illustration, lets say magnetos face, on the top side of the balls? cuz you have yours on the side. i mean if im gonna be using ir on an arcade stick, it should be on top, if its standalone to show off, on the sides

Any way i can order a Dr.Doom balltop from you?

I’d like to get Cammy on my balls :pleased:

i was waiting for that

Hello Kitty one is for me?
Thank you for take my request.

i dont have any balltops atm but im fire up due to this. ima upload some sketches that i made. on pen and paper not photoshop.

It all depends on what you want. I never could figure out how to make the neck work if the face is pointed straight up. A big black hole on the side would look awful.

great tutorial! needed something like this, thanks!

just doodled some on a piece of paper. didnt bother making it perfect but its a start. no photoshop for color and stuff.

OHHH MANNN i would SOOOO take a Dr.Doom and a Zero Top if you do em. What if i send you two balltops(Hopefully i can find em xD)

i think my dr doom came out rather well lol. id like to color these but im a noob at photoshop.

edit: actually heres my attempt on putting any color

Dr. Doom is just missing some facial Features, but thats real nice!

You need to remember that balltops are you know round. Just being ok from head-on doesn’t mean it will work from the sides or rear.

Sketch out front, top and sides. Get a good idea of how it should work.

EDIT: I spent a few days trying to get Viper’s hair to look OK going down that back of her head and I still wasn’t completely happy on how it turned out.

the ibuki top gets an A+. its very well done imo

yeah i already considered those before i started sketching, its just its on my head. what it looks like that is. if the art is gonna be dron from the top side of the ball, i would split the color theme of the ball in half. so the northern hemisphere(sideways) would have the artwork, which is the top side of the ball itself, and then match a color scheme for the southern hemisphere of the balltop

So I got to see firsthand one of these painted balltops at CEO, and uh… yeah… they’re every bit as bad-ass as they come across as looking. This tut is seriously legit.

can you give more detail on the bolt adaptir you used in your drill to spin the ball for sanding? i’m trying to find a similar part, but since i fail at the names of tools, i’m not finding much through my own googling.

Holy crap, Sasquatch ball is gorgeous! Let me know if you ever decide to sell it.
Also, sadface at thread title change.

I like that Zero design.

@toodles,
Sorry, that one is not for sale.

I’ll try to find all the right names and sizes tomorrow when I head to the hardware store.
