tahnx for the site alphregza
I tried playing on kaillera but I couldn’t get it to work on my computer because at the time I was running vista. I’m on XP now but haven’t really gotten to even trying it out because I hear the lag has gotten really really bad. If you’re in the so cal area though, I’m down to take a drive. I have no problem playing a “noob” as I still consider myself a learning player and no where near a pro or anything, so don’t trip on that, but one thing I would like is too keep whatever I’m playing on as close to arcade perfect because any other timing and I’ll get fucked up because I’m so used to arcade. I don’t have a ps2 at home and when I had it for xbox I would always play on pad. So yeah, if you’re in the area I’ll drive down and hope to help but if not, theory is all I can supply for now, unless I get like a millioin frequent flier miles.
I’ll see about getting some matches taped but as things are, I’m usually the one taping because people at regency are usualy more excuted about being next than taping a match. I can’t blame them though, with the arcade battle coming up soon.
I’m drunk btw.
I live on the opposite side of the country. I don’t think anyone plays SF in south florida. I am thinking about buying a stick for the 360 but am not willing to buy anything more expensive than a hori stick. I am playing with the 360 controller right now and keyboard on kaillera. I have never played 3S on the arcade, but I have never noticed any sort of lag on kaillera compared to the anniversary collection (which already has some sort of lag).
i have a q but nothign to do with akuma, please help me out!
so i was playing some guy using alex and he likes to use this super art (the one that jumps in and headbutt u til stun) and he always catches me when i jump away or block T___T
so how do u counter that? i play ken and my friend said u can do a st.jab to counter but i don’t trust him lol. maybe a fierce srk?
is 3s for DC crap or wat? cuz i got it for my DC…and also cuz i mean the majority of ppl play it for ps2 . y ps2? anything special bout the ps2 version?
no unblockables in the DC version
some say the parrying is laggy
jab is good, this may be a stretch but try using back + mp, because the attack seems to stay out there pretty long and jabbing alex with Q might be a little dangerous because the range at which alex lands is entirely dependant on your opponents choice of button. If he does a jab one he doesn’t go as far and might you might end up timing the jab incorrectly due to the fact that Q’s jab changes when you’re up close. I hope that made some sense. I just realized that I used no grammatically correct punctuation and I don’t want to back track and correct it.
pay close attention to which one of them he’s using and maybe you can dash accordingly too. If he does jab, dash back, if he does strong or fierce, dash under. But you might want to keep the dashes to a minimum and rely mostly on the jabs and/or back strong.
ps2 version is as arcade perfect as you’re going to get, because the speed is just barely faster, and you still get to have a lot of the things that make Urien and Oro playable characters.
everything is off, not just the parrying. I heard is some where around 11 frames too slow.
so then the DC version is crappy/shitty and i should get it for my ps2 right?/ and wats a Q jab?
aside from that when u parry akumas roundhouse spinning kicks and… u know how u have to tap forward and throw out a reversal/ parry do u have to move the stick back then wait like a spilt half second to move it forward again and throw out another reversal /parry? because i saw in that video that dander made he got knocked unto the floor during the kicks. was it because he didnt block again right after the first reversal /parry he did??
it was because I pushed strong after the first parry, but you can’t hold forward and then tap forward again. You have to put it into neutral, but if you just tap forward it goes into neutral by itself so you won’t have to think about that. I usually tap back after an air parry but it still gives you enough time to tap forward again if you realize you haven’t finished parrying the entire attack. Sometimes I even parry and press the buttons for grab and realize I haven’t finished parrying and press forward again for a succesful parry.
so when u parry the kicks or parry any hit for that matter do u have to parry with the same attack>>EX: u do srk as im falling and i parry with tap forward lp, so do i have to parry all the srk hits with the tap forward lp or can i tap forward mp to parry the next hit? becuase i didnt get what u meant when u said u hit strong after the first parry?? did u get knocked down becuase u didnt put the stick in neutral again after the first parry? and what i meant to say was do u have to block in between the kicks then neutralize the stick again to parry each hit? EX: akumas spinning kicks are hitting, 3rd kick misses, u stand and parry the first kick, after that do u have to block again then neutralize the stick by tapping forward again to parry the last hit?
basically what im trying to get at is, if your attack is faster than the second of the hit of their attack is, then yes you’ll hit first unless it’s a high priority strike like an uppercut. In which case you’ll just have to parry them all.
and in your scenario no you don’t have to tap back, I was just saying I tap back because I intend to land blocking, but in your scenario you would just tap forward count 1 tap forward and go on ahead with your combo. I said count 1 because it’s what I do in my head.
so as long as my attack comes out faster then my opponents i dont have to worry about getting knocked out/ down right?
which one of kens attacks comes out faster then all the others? would it be lp?
if you parry you’re given a 3 frame advantage so it depends on which attack you parry. spinning kicks give you enough time to parry one and do a strong but if that’s the case you might as well go for a lp shoryu from the get go.
so for the spinning kicks can u actually parry then do a lp shoryuken while the kicks are going or do u have to wait till after they land parry all 2/3 hits from the kicks?
you shouldn’t take lessons from me anymore. Today I went to a tournament and lost to a turtle chun and a mashing necro. Guess parry on wake up everytime and wake up uppercut when you can’t decided whether or not to go high or low.
wooooo
I’ll make a serious reply to your post tomorrow, I’m going to sleep now. I’m bitter. Were you at ELAC today?
and yeah you can lp shoryuken during his spinning kicks. You don’t have to parry all the kicks, but you do have to be quick about I’ll leave it to your discretion to decide which of the two you think is better. Whether you want the damage now and keep it minimal, but not risk fucking up a parry, or want the damage later, risk fucking up the parry and getting damage out of afterwards.
Because just like in marvel, if you hit him out an attack like that, where he gets off the ground and you hit him, he’s going to fall. But in this game you can’t wave dash and start an infinite,
dp that bitch of a man names Ahkooma
Thats how I ROLL.
what is all this parry the hurricane nonsense? Both mk and hk Gouki tatsus can be reversal srk’d on block. It’s true that mp and especially hp srks can be inconsistent given the distance but if you hit reversal Kens jab srk or EX srk are basically 100% guaranteed punishment. If you have meter reversal Shippu will aways punish a blocked hurricane, so there usually isn’t a need to risk a parry with Ken unless you HAVE to be bad ass and hp, mp srk, SA3, or srk, kara srk, that shit down.
I think I mentioned that this thread wasn’t for new players trying to learn how to beat akuma but for seasoned players looking for something to add to their anti akuma arsenal. and you can reversal shoryu every spinning kick variation. A lot of the talk about parrying after the first three posts were just questions being answered.
is turtling kind of like waiting?
