wats so great about the EX variant uppercut ? u didnt quite answer my ? though. do i have to input an attack manually when i parry or does tapping forward hit on its own? can u also parry the mk spinning kicks? and is there anything signicant about the EX fireball? and can u parry the EX uppercut??
the ex uppercut has really good priority over a lot of normals, maybe most. yeah you do have to input an attack manually this isn’t king of fighters. :looney: you can parry any strike in the game as long as it’s not a grab. The Ex fireball reduces your recovery time just enough to let you block or jump sometimes…so it’s a good idea to incorporate it into your game plan. and yes you can parry the EX attack. Excuse spelling errors or grammatical errors I just got back from a night of drinking and poker. wooooo I lost 10 bucks!11… :wasted:
sorry for that then:)
wat are a few attacks that i can input while parrying akumas spinning kicks then follow into a super of to end it with my own roundhouse spinning kicks? and wat commands would u recommend that i input while parrying an attack on the ground of while im in the air??
ok after parrying ALL of the hits from his roundhouse spinning kick or parrying enough hits to get him on the ground you might want to go for ken’s most popular and easiest combo.
just mp > hp xx shoryuken/fireball XX Super
I don’t recommend ever using ken’s spinning kicks on the ground because it just really isn’t a very good attack, and on top of that you have at least 3 other good options.
- lp shoryuken
- mp shoryuken
- fp shoryuken
if you’re jumping in and you parry an attack usually you want to do something that comes out failry quickly and leaves room for a combo so depending on where you attacked from and where they ended up you might want to do one of the following:
you parry a standing attack above their head: Roundhouse kick > mp > hp xx lp uppercut/fp fireball xx super
the slashes indicate an “or” transition.
you parry about waste high: you want to use a mk land then repeat the same series from before.
you parry from a character’s distance: roundhouse land then low forward kick xx super
if you parry all the hits of an uppercut: then land wait nearby and depending on whether or not you have the meter do: Fierce punch xx fierce uppercut/ mp uppercut xx super
there might be more but I’m ready to go to ffa right now so I’ll have to finish up later.
so all those parries are in the air right?
yup.
so how long do u think it would take me to get the hand of parrying??
I honestly would rather you start woking on reacting with blocks than attempt parrying this early in the game, but i guess so long as you use it sparringly, it shouldn’t take more than like…2 months? 1 month? I practiced a whole month straight with a friend and eventually it just sorta became second nature.
but really I’d say practice blocking more than parrying.
actually my blocking is pretty good which is y i wanna start to learn how to parry! those grabs damn then… lol since i play mvc2 you gotta have some quick reactions cuz the game is soo freaken crazy and fast… lol  . but yea since 3s isnt that quick its a lot more easier for me to see the movements and see wats coming next… thank goodness i played mvc2 otherwise id lose quickly…
btw how do u grab??
both light buttons
so lk and lp and why does every marvel player think they have the greatest reflexes when it comes to 3s?
can u also grab with the 2 middle buttons?
we think we got great reflexes because were so used to that crazy magneto shit. so if ur blocking is decent in mvc2 its great in 3s cuz 3s isnt all that quick and its easier to see whats coming next IMO… but just like marvel that dont help cuz u get grabbed to death… or like in marvel- grabbed into inf combo, to death.
You can see whats coming easier because the animation is way fucking better. It’s not just the speed.
you make a valid argument.
Funny enough though, a lot of our local marvel players claim 3rd strike is ultra easy but get nearly double perfected with over heads as my main weapon. And these are good marvel players, like Shortterm, Regency Rob and Finesse. Sometimes Potter too, but he’s got a pretty turtly chun so he can get away with more things.
yes… thats what i meant to say . thank for pointing that out :wgrin:
i never said 3rd strike was easy and i sure as hell never thought it was easy i mean if i thought it was easy i wouldnt be on this forum. lol aside from that its way different than marvel cuz u cant block shit in the air and u cant inf. and u cant do crazy air combos either… which sucks but is also kinda good thing so its like pretty badass!!
where do you play? maybe we can help eachother out? I’m working on Marvel and have a fairly deep knowledge of the game, I just don’t get enough practice against good players because whenever I play someone like finesse or clock I spend most of my time running away and building meter a la east coast. I’ll manage a character kill but my sent is too weak to hold his own.
but not here of course.
anything else you’d like to know?
what would be great. u can help me out in 3s and i can help u out in marvel… i would be decent comp. i think  what teams u play in marvel? i can teach u a lil bit of sent although mine can barely hold his own… haha. where do i play?? depends i play several places. where do u live at?
while jumping in air wit ken would u recommend attacking as ur falling? would it be safe to do kens spinning kicks?
it would be good sometimes to do the EX spinning kicks because if you catch them in the air you can land and combo uppercuts soon after. If they’re on the ground and you time it well, you’ll cross them up with it and they’ll get hit from behind and you can use your imgination from there. I usually just dash and uppercut twice.
I mainly play santhrax and storm sent cable, but recently I’ve been messing with mss an msp.
marvel match!! NOT MM… my MSP vs ur MSP… this battle will be interesting!
Dander, do you play 3s on Kaillera or XBL? You seem like you know your shit and I could use some help with Ken, but I play Ryu too. I too could use some help parrying, as I know the logic and strategy behind it by my timing is fucked. I am fairly familiar with the game and have been playing it for about a month, but am still lacking all the strategies and other shit that everyone on this board has down to science. If you don’t want to play with a noob, thats cool. Perhaps I can see some of your matches instead?
EDIT: Illan_3rd, this site helped me a lot with basic strategies in the game: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2007/sep/30/how-get-better-street-fighter-3-third-strike/
