Mexican is not a race.
I used to be bummed about T. Hawk but honestly I don’t know much about the west coast indians. I don’t really even care that much about my own native american heritage. Most of the time I think the idea of race is just stupid.
Go roll over on the highway… like the Vehicle they named after your tribe!!!
Yes, very. I believe Yoga Fire was originally stated to be the result of spicy curry
I wish Capcom would have done more with Hakan. He could have been a truly arabic character. His story would have been Bison had some Mohammed artwork created, and he wanted to seek it out and destroy it, as well as kill Bison for having it created. After each battle he yells “Allahu Ackbar!” over and over, and his intro with female characters is him calling them improperly dressed infidel whores. Also he has a rivalry with Ken because Ken represents the country he hates most, full of infidel whores, like Eliza.
Turkish != arab.
This…thisthisthisthisthis.
Anyway, I am surprised that Street Fighter STILL doesn’t have a crocodile-wrestling Australian in shortpants who shouts "crikey!’ when shooting his projectiles (boomerangs) and summoning kangaroos and emus to run all over the stage…a close range grappler with a solid zoning game but terrible mid range capabilities perhaps?
It’s the same thing, Turks, Arabs, Greeks, Italians, Indians, Persians, pretty hard to tell them apart based on just looks.
I dunno, I can instantly tell an Italian apart from an Arab…D: wtf are you, a martian or something?
Southern Italians can look quite arabic, due to arabic intervention at some point in history. With that said, the whole mediterranean look is beautiful, so it’s not meant as an insult.
But does that really count? ‘Typical’ Italians don’t really share the same physical traits as Arabs. I think they are talking about ethnic majorities here.
Blanka is not quite a stereotype of brazilians, he doesn’t offend me, he just disappoints me. I wish he was some character that I could relate in a comic way like russians and Zangief. We don’t have legends about radioactive freaks or monsters like that in the Amazon. Maybe “Curupira” but he is burning fire, not electrocuting people. Please Capcom make fun of us!
Namco actually did a good job with Tekken since the two brazillian characters actually represent well stereotypes, that “everyone” in Brazil is black or have a dark skin and that we fight capoeira. It’s actually based on stuff that is not far from the truth, more than half of our population is dark skinned and capoeira is quite a common sport among them, which they refer to as a “dance” since the don’t hit each other and there is music involved. There are some professional brazillian fighters that actually use some capoeira moves in real fights but it’s just them, most martial artists here do jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, tae kwon do, krav-magá and stuff like that.
all asian people know some form of martial art
Just proves that you have no idea what to say because you had no idea what you were talking about and just how much of a retard you really are. Thanks, I didn’t have to do anything that time.
I would love to see a Filipino fighter in street fighter. Probably use Kalli for the fighting style…
Street fighter is racist due mostly to japan’s jaded and downright ass backwards media. Bob Sapp, and Bobby Olugun or super celebrities over there and they have made careers out of sambo carictures. Even some of the most progressive japanese black character designs such as the cast of Tokyo Tribe 2 still suffer from Big lips but not on a severe level as Choco Love from Shaman King. In Street Fighter Alpha Deejay was quite cunning fighting his way up the ranks to stardom by going for the most recognizable and notorious fighter in the world at that time who was Sagat. It amazes me how they haven’t added in the stereotypical Chinese Kung Fu artist who is all muscley and weird looking. Capcom’s most progressive designs so far have been the cast of SF3 , C.Viper, and Abel. These characters weren’t tied to any gender, or ethnic stereotypes.
Just thought I’d point out something from the Prima strat guide:
Balrog(Boxer)
Likes: Women and Bourbon(don’t we all?
Dislikes: Fish(ok), Math(pushing it, but I understand), Hard work(really? REALLY?!? Come on!)
Hobbies: Gambling(convenient that it’s semi-relevant since he’s a bouncer at gambling areas)
Yeah, I’m sure it’s all in our heads…
i don’t take it as racist per se… it’s more uh… factual… every race has a known area of martial arts expertise … whether it be Thai people and muay thai, Black people with boxing (actually greek but hey), or Asians with kung fu… SF isn’t racist… it’s rooted…
think about it… if SF2 hit the arcade and featured a japanese dude with a gi and a headband utilizing Savate martial arts or a muscular black dude with a ridiculous haircut flipping around doing Wushu… nobody would ever believe that basis… so instead they went with a truer mold… a black guy who boxes, various asian folks who use kung fu, a fiendish korean chick doing taekwondo, and an american solider fighting sobat and whatnot
also just cause balrog’s stats are seemingly stereotyped and racist from afar, they’re part of his character and demeanor… NOT based on his race
