Some simple things realistically can be abused to achieve a moderate ranking. I’ve seen countless Honda players who do nothing but turtle and buttslam at 2500pp, or Blankas who turtle and up ball at any sign of movement.
haha that honda is fucking hilarious, i have never seen it play before, it is japanese, could be a booster, then again almost beat gamerbee… 99% likelyhood it is playing on a pad. I dont know why they dont focus those buttslams,I used to buttslam A LOT like easily as much as this creature, and i got focused so much. I honestly used to play basically identical to this and couldnt get wins for the life of me.
He has 4.5k pp. And yes he plays the same but he has mastered the art of online play. His Honda and Balrog is A rank. I’ve never seen him link headbutt to U1 yet. His DJ is also A rank and he can’t consistently link cr.lp, cr.mk. Can’t do any mgu combos or AA with normals. He changed his GT.
Is he boosting? Well I can tell you this…I’ve seen him get 30+ wins in a row multiple of times in endless.

I don´t want to be annoying, however using focus against the buttslam can lead sometimes into situations, where Honda will land behind you, after the slam has been absorbed, important is the right positioning, do it from the wrong position, you might even get hit by it or the guy will land behind you and you eat a nice combo. Using a non fireball and non DP char against Honda in online environment is painful.

lol unbeatable SSFP… i have him on my friends list, i played him a long ass time ago, a few months before i moved to europe. I remember him doing tons of buttslams I saw he changed his GT he sent me some message telling me he got his balrog to A Rank. I dont know why he is getting away with it, people always focus my buttslams and blow me up, online or offline.

unbeatable is laggy. also add to the list xWAx TheKraken. lives in the caribbean but plays on US servers. he has truly mastered lag. its nearly unplayable

The caliber of a player doesnt go from shit -> gdlk instantly, there are levels inbetween you know. He is not a great player and would probably get destroyed offline if he attempted to pull the same shit as he did there, that said, he isnt terrible either, but definitely doesnt fall in the category of ‘oh wow hes such a great player’ either.
What’s interesting to my is the definition of a good or great player.
Like him or loathe him, if you take a cue from Dave Sirlin, you can’t help to widen the parameters for what makes a “great” player.
Is a great player one who wins exclusively by heavy hitting combos (and not dropping them)?
Is a great player one who knows matchups and picks accordingly in order to win?
Is a great player some one who plays the game with a flashy visual style, with flair and passion?
Or if we get down to the brass tacks of what this is all about - winning - is a great player one who can, regardless of style judgements, the items above and artificial rules, consistently win?
I go for the last option…
It’s the last option. But “abusing lag” is not an artificial rule. Online is not the real game.
