How long could you play the same Fighter with no updates or patches?

It is called Guilty Gear 2nd Overture

That went too Herzog Zwei for my taste. I’d rather see something done in sidescrolling 2d. Would probably end up looking like Guardian Heroes with a MOBA twist.

That would be interesting, I admit. The closest thing for now is Awesomenauts, which is a 2d side scrolling action platformer MOBA.

SCII for 2 years

SFA3 for 2 years

Stopped playing Super Patch Fighter 4 before AE’s update

SFxT on and off, but mostly off - VSav took over haha.

Picked up Darkstalkers Resurrection (So glad I did) and I’m having so much fun with it, I think its a game I can find myself playing years and years beyond. Lovin’ it.

prefer games without updates.
players dictate how they should be played.

Compare 90s SF2, with current SF2. Day and night. this can go on endlessly.

While if the game has updates, someone else dictates how it should be played and they often have no clue, like in SFIV.

3s will go unchallenged for centuries as the most perfect fighting game in history, only mighty lords of the universe can play that game skillfully.
Since I don’t see new school games getting ANYWHERE near that level, more than likely I’ll be playing 3s for the rest of my life (probably not full time).

how can 3s be perfect when it has Twelve in it?? Capcom should patch that character out of existence. then wipe him from my memory completely.

For me it depends on the number of mains and subs. I play various genres aswell so there’s really no telling. I can tell you the number of fighters I’ve dropped though and never picked back up.

You could also be talking about Team Fortress 2. Valve releases so many patches (an average of one a week) that changes everything. Game is ultra casual now.

You could always just play the PS3 version or have house rules of “original weapon sets only”. I don’t know how drastically those have been changed though…

Part of the problem IMO is that it’s really hard to find people to play TF2 with the way it was meant to be played. Every server is either idle for hats or casual jump in jump out 2fort gameplay with no actual strategy or, you know…teamwork. You really have to just gather up a bunch of friends if you wanna have some serious fun with that game imo.

If you were to play a Vanilla Server than yeah, sure. But those are few and far between and usually have fewer than 12 people. Otherwise even if you’re playing with friends it can still be extremely difficult to beat a few Pyro/Engie spammers.

Vanilla…

I still like Vanilla SF4 over Super Arcade version 3894 SP 13 revision 2 or whatever the fuck number they’re up to.

Technically there’s 5 versions of SF4. You have Arcade version of Vanilla, console version of Vanilla that added several characters, Super, AE, then AE 2012.

Wait a second… How many versions of SF2 were there? World Warrior, CE, Turbo, Super, Super Turbo. Then you have Anniversary Edition and HDR…

Glad to see that Capcom learned a lot from back in the day.

who still plays it? :coffee:

Me.

Forever, if I enjoy the game the way it is.

Didnt know about cvs2 back in 2001 or whenever it was released but around 05 or 06 I saw it at a gamestop, picked it up an I fell in love still play it to this day whenever I can I can watch A groove Sakura all day lol

As long as there are opponents to play against. That’s the whole point of fighting games, anyway.

Though in many ways… CPS1 SF2 isn’t the same as CPS2, and again with HAE and HDR… Just putting that out there…

Still debating whats worse, a game getting patched to death or having to buy a whole new game a few months later because they added two characters, with one of them just being an alternate of an existing character.

Also I wish there was a way to update the graphics of a lot of our old favorites and maybe eliminating some of their flaws without destroying the flow of the games. Not that I’m a graphics whore but it’s hard getting new blood into something when it looks dated compared to the mindless drivel they are used to playing these days.
