How in the hell is this supposed to be fair?

But then how am I going to know if I’m getting better? If I can’t tell it’s like canoeing down a river blindfolded with no paddle

If you start to beat those people that you are playing with in lounges ,that’s a sign of you getting better.

Ranked isn’t the only way to know if you’re getting better and since a lot of the people that play in ranked don’t even go to tournaments it’s not even the best test of how much truly better you are getting. Lot of the people you can run into in ranked are people that would get nervous and lose early in pools at a tournament.

Stop being mad and play some lounge games and ask questions so you can get glad.

Winning and losing is binary. How you are winning or losing usually isn’t. Look at your matches. Are you missing basic anti-airs? Are you jumping around like Mario on crack? Are you dropping your hit-confirms/punishes? Are you implementing and succeeding at your game plan? Look at the big picture rather than just the w/l.

You also ought to realize you’re not very good and you ought to try to learn from people rather than disagree with them. Losing to a couple silvers is hardly worth getting mad about.

It’s not a RPG bro. Your character doesn’t get bigger numbers in stats or anything set in stone like that. You yourself improve. And the only way you’ll know is to play against better players and see if you can hang. If not. then seek players here on your skill level and play them till you feel you can hang with them. Then try your luck at better players again. Still can’t hang? Then look where you went wrong in replays and practice on working on those holes in your game. Rinse and repeat until one day you see that you are able to hang with those better players.

Also this got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be cool, if we had some sort of stat tracking for players? Like how the NBA keeps track of a players number of rebounds, assist, points etc? Like we could have that for fighters. Keep track of stuff like anti airs, whiff punishes, how fast they win, grabs etc.

I literally roll my eyes, whenever I get rookies - super bronze. Some of them are killers who don’t play rank much and I automatically lose like 90-100 lp from one match. The way I see it, you aren’t the one at a disadvantage… unless you’re really really ass at the game.

Really LP tells you jack shit about the anonymous opponent you’re fighting. Bronze could be good and Platinum could be bad. Feel good if you get to Silver but at the end of the day, don’t take LP as some end-all measure of skill.

2k lp karin destroyed me in battle lounge yesterday. I’ve 5k. lol.

Exactly… anyone can have a string of luck and just play a bunch of ass players to gain rank. What I am saying is the OP shouldn’t bitch and moan because he has nothing to lose being a lower rank. If a Silver beats you they take like 5-10 lp away. If you catch them making bad decisions or just fluke win you’re running away with 100.

yup.

I beat a 10k guile the same day in ranked. I won the first match and I was already celebrating. Precious points. Lost other two matches but who cares, free points and experience.

Points are just an arbitrary number. It doesn’t matter if you won some or lost some, they mean nothing. What matters is whether you learn something from your losses (and sometimes even your wins). Seriously though, losing isn’t that big of a deal. Just be patient.

No one gives a shit about how many ladder points you have. Why even waste the energy worrying about wins and losses on ladder? Why tilt? Just have fun. Winning every match is not fun IMO.

Definitly agree, I still get super pissed somehow tho, even if I agree 100% with you. I think I might be dumb.

I get pissed at myself mostly but still.

Annnd some super silver just rage quit against me when I won. So I guess I feel a bit better about myself =)

I think it was a mistake to tie in rank with achievements, hence the circumstances people are now in (i.e. ragequitters).

Then there is no hope for you. You will never get any better and be stuck in the same point range because you will never learn what you are doing wrong.

`

Whatever you say buddy

Exactly. if you think league points are any indication of how good or bad a player is you are mistaken. All you have to do is tune into Next Level Battle Circut. Arturo has way more league points online than Antwan Ortiz, but Antwan almost always beats Art in tournament. Online is meaningless. If you can’t grasp that simple fact you are just causing yourself way too much stress and are a blight on the community if you are ragequitting just because you fight someone better than you.

Daigo/gameinn and Sako had very few points in online SF4. If you’re going to deem them bad on the basis of that, well…

Does anyone know a group to play with or something? I’m getting super frustrated with trying to play online…
I’m a Rookie atm and I just got matched with a SILVER please I want people to play with…
PSN is bcarroll12 I’m new to street fighter and I just wanna learn.

You know what, I’ll ignore your blatant disrespect, but I have a question. If LP isn’t a measure of skill then what is? Because I don’t have anything else to go off of.
