How far is Udon going with SF?

Just had a curious thought… how far (story wise) does Udon plan to take the SF comic? Until Bison is defeated? Until Gill is gone and burried? Do you plan to come up with an original story that doesn’t follow after an game after you’ve exhausted game ideas? Would you be most likely to say that you’ll follow all the street fighter games that get made until they stop making them?

Just a thought … because if it’s up to just bison then i’ll have to wait a long time for that final showdown. And i kinda want the comic to stick around … i wouldn’t wanna see it die after it still has the potential to do SF3 (third strike style) …

or do you plan to then do SF vs. DS kinda things?

They’re taking it all the way to the bank, baby!
Err…But seriously, Udon has already stated that they’re going all the way through Street Fighter 3. I think there’s 4 more issues in the “Alpha” arc, then 11 in the “Street Fighter 2” arc, then who knows how many in SF 3.
I could be wrong on the number of issues, though.

I would really like to see them do SF4 after everyone’s ideas on what SF4 should be like (Evil Ryu being the main bad guy, Mel Masters in training, etc.).

If they do SF4, maybe Capcom will finally be inspired to do SF4.

god, i hope mel masters is nowhere near sf4!

with that said, i dont see evil ryu as a posibility anymore due to ryu’s avility to overcome his evil side SINCE his teenage/early twenties days and THEN training with oro.
However, i can see how bison coming back right before sf3 would work, and having at least a couple of the main characters that ‘didn’t make it’ to sf3 killed off in the struggle.
I still think that there is no such thing as too much bison, and there is no such thing as too little mel masters!

Udoneko said at first the contract with Capcom to make SF Comics was only 3 years, but it has been extended to 5.

So as long as people keep supporting the book, who knows? The contract may be extended for more years, but we’ll definitly get SF3!

I don’t mean to be too critical, I know the comic pace has slowened down and all but could Street Fighter actually last 5 years? It’s going to have taken about a year and a half to get from Alpha to the Street Fighter 2 arc, then there would probably be a sub-arc again (Guessing) and then the concluding series and that would probably take 4 years in total at most? Maybe…

Sano are you sure the contract wasn’t Capcom comics instead of Street Fighter comics?

Well, when he said it I believe we were talking about SF. For more specifics, I wouldn’t know. I can see SF lasting five years if they just pace some of the stories a bit. And even if they finish the series, there’s always room for dream matches as in SF3 vs. SF1(well, anyone who Udon leaves alive and hasn’t graduated to Zero)/SF2/Zero throwdowns! I’m not sure how you’d loop that into a story though, but what do I know - Nuthin’!

Hm… I’d rather Udon stuck to the proper(ish) plot rather than got into the dream matches stuff personally, once SF3 is over, until there’s an SF4 I hope that they’ll leave it there.

Here’s a SF4 boss Concept a made in Heromachine.

Ps: I can’t actually draw so I’am stuck with this.

Now that i think about it, arent we getting off the Alpha bandwagon really, really soon? So, whats gonna happen with the other four years? I can see some really nice pacing for SF2, with every fight in the tournamente being shown… But that still wouldnt take that long, i assume. I really cant see SF2 + SF3 taking more than 3 years.

Kinda of a waste that we didnt get some good Mika and Karin stuff in the main comic… But hey, better than crowding everything, i guess.

Yea, with 20 or so nonSSFT2 Alpha characters, there sadly doesn’t seem to be much chance to give a lot of them some decent showtime without maaaajor crowdage… Especially since the SSFT2 characters are the main characters of (and thus taking up the majority of) the Alpha storyline anyways, too.

But assuming Udoneko sticks to just the chars of the respective series (which they might not), boy, considering how long it’ll take to get past Alpha AND SF2 and how we’ll be dealing with the same characters throughout all of that, boy will it be a shock once things switch to SF3 and EVERYONE is basically gone but Ryu and Ken and a little Chun-Li O_o

Thats the bad part, i really, really doubt theyll go cannon on SF3. I bet that well see some Guile (and probably some other small appearences) in SF3.

Frankly, i would prefer if they actually stuck to Ryu, Ken, Chun-li, Urien and Gill like theyre supposed to. Well, they have time, so hopefully theyll use Ibuki and Elena wisely…

Um … Moses?

Nope the character is mold after Zeus the king of the gods.

I think the alpha series should last to atleast issue 24.That’s two years worth and give us a chance to see a good amount of R.Mika,Karin,Gen,Dan,Juni and Juli and Sakura needs to stick around in the street fighter series til atleast issue 22.She is important to the story and needs to not suddenly leave after issue 14 or 15.Just because the rival school comics start in around march doesn’t mean she has to leave the street fighter comic then.the timeline in rival schools can be a little ahead of the timeline going on in the street fighter comics, giving a window for Sakura to stick around a good while longer.

How far will the SF comic go? The answer is simple: until it loses its popularity.

I was hoping the SFII part of the comic would last by far the longest. I don’t like the Alpha characters and I definately don’t like the SFIII characters. I still say Udon should do SF4 with Ryu turning into Evil Ryu.

Techniquly there’s only 18 true Alpha characters Sakura and Karin, R.Mika Rose , Dan, Charlie and the Tweleve Dolls The rest are form Final Fight, SF1 and SF2

well i guess we’ll need udonkeo to tell us to be sure.
