Yea, but Final Fight and SF1 weren’t done in the Street Fighter comic, so they have to get their time crammed in with all the other Alpha characters during the Alpha arc. Who also have all their development time crammed in with all the SSFT2 characters for the most part, to the point where I almost wonder if there’ll be any storyline potential left for these guys by the time SF2 starts O_o Hellz, Cammy is already in her SF2 form and plot FOR THE PAST FEW ISSUES.
Heck, during the alpha arc, the majority of the characters with the most showtime and development so far are SF2 characters. Which makes sense since they were the main characters in the canon Alpha storyline too, but it all further leads to more overcrowding during the arc, etc.
…it’s a good thing Udon decided to slow the arc down. :pleased:
Hate to tell you this but yes it has, SF2 was a fighting legend appealing to all fighting fans, since SF hasn’t been keeping up with other fighting game series’, its now just appealing to the same old fans most of the time. SF is nearly dead, sorry.
Udoneko wrote in another thread that the second arc was coming to a close in #14, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the third arc is the SF2 tournament does it?
With the other Alpha/Zero characters, especially the Final Fight ones, I think that they can be written in without too much crowding. It would require a main character to “bridge” them in. For example, I’m imagining the Final Fight crime group stirring enough trouble to warrant investigation from Guile or Chun Li, who would need to look for leads and could confront a jailed Cody, and Cody could direct/join them to link with other Final Fight characters.
As for SF3, I think the lack of backround for most of the characters will give Udon a lot of flexibility and creative control on what to do with those characters - who they’re associated with, what organisations they belong to, new organisations/motivations, etc. Also, since the “bad” guys in SF3 are supposed to be the Illuminati, which is supposed to be a powerful secret group controlling civilization througout time, it should pose a real challenge (physical, political, and legal challenges) for the characters to figure out and battle this threat. That way, we can bring in non-SF3 charcters logically. For example, Guile or Cammy may be needed because military expertise is needed to battle or even the playing field of such a powerful organisation.
My point is I think Udon has a lot of material to work with to last five years, if they use it creatively.
Actually, it would be ken and Ryu, because they know Guy from Metro City. The bridge would start Between ST2&ST3 and goes something like this:
*“After Ken’s preliminary match against ST1’s Joe, Ryu recognizes him from being from Metro. After the tornament, the shotos find Joe and ask him if he knows of a Fighter named Guy. He tells them hes not sure but he did heard of a brawler named Cody who hangs with person who fight fast and where sneakers, and wears blood red. Both Ken & Ryu know that discription,so they call Guy’s phone number, hoping it hasn’t change yet, and ask him whats going down in Metro.” *
I would be like how the Rival Schools Summer Special open up their arc. And that arc ends, Hugo, poison, and alex would go to ST3:New Gen.
oh, the alex/hugo intro on 3rd strike is nothing more than a ‘tribute’ to the andre the giant and hulk hogan fight as far as i know. Although the guys at udon could very easily connect them, there is absolutely nothing else linking hugo to alex…i dont think it’s ever even stated that they fought at the tourney or afterwards, since ryu is known to defeat BOTH of them…
Ken Siu Chong, the writer of The SF Comic in an Interview in Play Magazine said he wants to do a Final Fight Story in Metro City that takes place within the SF Comic, but it has to be done when the time is right.
They can’t just stop everything and go to Metro City, there’s a time and place for everything. It’s gonna happen, we just have to wait.
Feel lucky FF Fans. I gotta wait years for Udon to do SF3 when the series basically has zero point zero interpretations, no Animes or Mangas except for the Ryu Final Manga which doesn’t feature everybody! But I’ll be pateint too.
I don’t really want to see any Final Fight unless maybe it’s only one issue. I only say this because I never played Final Fight nor do I know anything about it, and I think most people are like me in this respect. -Kent
If they do Final Fight I hope its done seperately, I hope they don’t try to tie these all together in a few years time because I feel it would lower the plot quality.
Lower the plot quality?! That doesn’t make any sense! There are a handful of characters in alpha(including GBA versions)that are from FF that are not connected to the rest of alpha plot wise, but are connected to SF3. They’re SFers too and they story must be told with the SF comic continuity
It should be obvious, yes you can add Cody, Guy, Maki, Sodom, Rolento and Hugo to SF with some background imformation, but don’t go making SF into Final Fight with SF characters as a result. Final Fight should be a seperate series in general. Some of you seem obsessed with cross-overs, they would only help to make the plot tacky really.
IMO the Final Fight events should be included into in the Street Fighter Alpha arc, not seperatly, since they have a lot of connections.
Just read the quotes/endings of the Final Fight chars in the Alpha games, and compare to the Final Fight games (intros/endings). You can also look at the SF Alpha versions of Cody and Guy of Final Fight One (the last Final Fight game). Check also Final Fight Revenge and Final Fight CD.
I think the best choice is show the SF events of the FF chars, mixed with short parts of FF events showing the FF chars’ background history.
Or include the FF events as flashbacks in the SF2 arc also would be a good choice. Remember that Chun-Li and Guile appears in a FF game (as a cameo in the background), and there’s only 3-4 numbers of the SF Alpha arc to finish it, so also the FF events also can be showed as extra/backup historys in the SF2 arc.
well, from all the imput i’ve seen (both positive and negative) and assuming the guys at udon read our ramblings, chances are they will have an abridged version of the final fight events in a double backstory…
