I use Dante on point, do a decent combo, end with Million Dollars. With perfect mashing, DHC into Survival Techniques at 50 hits above what you were at before. Frank won’t quite make it full screen, but leaves you with enough time to hit them out of the spinning knockdown with standing :s:, jump,:h::d::h:, Snapshot into assist (lots of assists work, but I use Dormammu’s Dark Hole) into another Snapshot if necessary (some Dante Combos can get a level 5 frank off of one snapshot) or a Survival Techniques if you’re already level 5.
I never was able to get a snapshot after a DHC. Am I missing something? Does it only work with specific teammates?
Right now, all I can do is :s:, jump,:h:,:s:, snapshot, rinse and repeat. I can “reliably” get up to level 3, never gotten to level 4.
What team are you using? The super that you use to dhc into Frank from has keep your opponent in the air long enough for Frank’s super to whiff and still have time to snap a picture. A good example of this is starting with Dante’s million dollars and dhcing before the original stream of bullets ends, this will cause the opponent to spin slowly up into the air while Frank whiff’s his super. You also should have an assist that allows you to to relaunch off of the snap at the end of the combo that you have mentioned. I call haggar right before the snap which allows me to relaunch them with S for another air series into a second shot which nets me an easy lvl 3.
Yeah, my Frank West/Phoenix Wright/Akuma team does not lend itself well to DHC leveling up. Are there any good solo level up combos? How is TAC leveling up?
Im not 100% sure but If you THC with PW using the maya super, the super may last longer than your cart and if it still combos you may have time to snap a pic or 2. I dont know how the maya super works but if she stays on the screen swinging her arms after you dhc or tag, you may be able to combo into maya and hard tag/DHC whiff into Frank and either continue the combo or just snap some pictures.
Also, I think you may be able to do your combo and call in the tatsu assist before snapping a picture for a relaunch. Try it with PW assists too, I dont think the dog will work but press the witness may. I honestly cant even remember what his 3rd assist is.
I’ve resorted to leveling up Frank with bnb’s up to level 2/3, bottoms up, THC into x-factor cancel into snapshot. Not the best nor that efficient, but it works.
That plan is about as non-ideal as possible. Id rather have lvl1-3 Frank with xf in the pocket than lvl 4 or 5 w/o it. Im guessing the THC with PW doesnt give you extra time to snap pictures. Have you tried anything else that I have suggested? Honestly, your going to continue to run into problems as long as you use that team. You have the only two(phoenix may also count) characters that require leveling up before unleashing their full potential. Leveling Frank or PW alone can be enough of a liability but having both on your team when they dont do anything incredible to aid each other. Try some of the stuff I talked about in my previous post and if you cant get any of that to work it may be time to rethink your team.
I took this team into the lab and I hate to tell you that this team has little to no synergy that is going to help frank. THC and DHCs arent effective and none of PWs assists help with a relaunch and tatsu only helps if you time it right and its in the corner. If you stick with this team you are likely going to have nothing but trouble.
Yeah, usually resort to solo combos. Is it a good idea to Bottoms Up, do a few combos, then just tag out?
That’s one of the riskiest things I’ve ever heard. I highly recommend you don’t do that.
Hard tags are asking for trouble, and unless you’re in the middle of a plan that will work every single time, drinking with Frank is about as effective as wearing a big heavy neon sign counting down your demise.
Well, it helps I play against people who are worse than me (and I’m horrible).
What if I DHC out of the Bottoms Up?
What’s a good level to stop leveling and start killing with Frank if you’re leveling without assists/DHCs/THCs/etc.? Usually stop at level 3.
You can get Frank to level 3 off one solo combo without drinking easily, so don’t even worry about that. Once you get to level 3, you’re still doing enough hits to get to level 4 pretty fast. Just ending combos with a picture and Survival Techniques will give you damage and levels, so I don’t see why you have to choose.
Well, let’s just say my execution is at the level where a third of the time I launcher instead of snapshot by accident. When I get better, maybe I won’t have to, but until then.
Man I typed up this whole thing for you then my computer crashed so now your gettin the abridged version…
I’m only gonna lay this on you once then Ill let you play how you want to play. People say to play who you like, I agree with this. The problem with your picks are that you have 2 characters that need a team built around them to help them power up and become efficient. Neither of your other characters help frank so he is on his own to power up. Even if you put PW on point, both tatsu and cart assists function the same for PW as a “get off me while I pick up this evidence.” You should decide which character you like more(Frank or PW) and pick other characters that you like that will help them more. If you are having trouble with execution, you should be hitting the training room but also, you should have an assist behind Frank that allows you to snap 2 photos. Even if you are screwing up the input, you will be getting better as you play. There are a ton of assists that will accomplish this so you have options to pick characters that you like. There is a ton of info in these forums on team building for Frank but if you have any questions or ideas you want to bounce off someone, I will help out as best I cant. If you choose to stick with your team, you will be taking a game that is already somewhat difficult to get into much harder.
Edit: Maybe that wasn’t so abridged. Also with your execution, you should likely be doing the same combo to both level up Frank and do damage so always be looking to end combos with a photo>super.
Yeah, I know my team isn’t exactly optimal by any standard. It’s honestly just characters I like. I have a far more Frank-dedicated team of Rocket Raccoon (Pendulum)/Dante (Jam Session)/Frank West (Shopping Cart). THC in snapshot = Level 4 Frank.
Well, thanks for the advice on ending combos.
That’ll work. I’d put Frank in the middle of the team no matter what though, whether it’s Dante or RR on point.
Really? I usually do TAC (double down to build +2 Meter) into THC into snapshot. Is there something better?
dhc out of the gun supers with survival techniques, whiff, then take a pic
I run Zero/Dante/Frank. On a touch with Zero, corner carry into Dante extension if available, hard knockdown with divekick, Rekkoha DHC Devil Trigger, hard tag Frank, super jump and take the picture. Guaranteed level 4, usually puts me around 90-95 hits depending on the confirm.
Dante does his thing if Zero doesn’t get a hit. I’m just not super thrilled with the level 1 anchor situation.
Has anyone started keeping track of the most efficient level-up combos?
At this stage it looks to me like 2 bar for level 5, or meterless with assists that help you get multiple shots (lariat etc) for level 4, is standard for a good Frank team. I’d really like to see safe ways of getting to level 5 with no meter (That means no TACs!).
In particular I’m interested to see more use of drinking mid-combo, and the assists which are the most effective at letting him do this.
