Hi, today i went out and bought a TE round 2 , and when i plugged it into my computer it registers it as: PC usb wired stick 8838. (windows vista 32 bit by the way).

When i calibrate it nothing happens. When i move the stick around and press buttons nothing happens. I loaded sf4 and nothing happened. do i need special drivers or something. If there is please link me.

Yeah, Madcatz PS3 sticks have some compatibility issues with several PC chipsets.
this is TOTAL FUCKING BULLSHIT! It works on my brothers computer plug and play (windows 7 32), my dads computer (xp sp3) but not my computer!!!?!! i paid 200 dollars for something that doesnt even work?!one. wow just wow.
Coulda bought the 360 version…

Also, When i bought i had previously read shit-tons of reviews and information on the TE, thought i couldnt go wrong. I have officially lost what VERY LITTLE respect i had for mad-catz. Seriously, every single peripheral i have ever bought from them, no matter what system has broken within a month of getting, or just plain sucked ass. Now the controller isnt even compatable with a computer unless i put a new chipset in, Even know it advertizes it works on pc? WOW.
This is the part that pisses me off the most. My brothers computer has windows 7 and it works effortlessly, my 8 year old xp computer works plug and play effortlessly yet a 2 year old vista doesnt!?
buy windows 7 instead of vista haha. thats why noone liked it in the first place :-P. At least I know if i ever get sf4 on my pc it will work with windows 7 haha. Sorry its just that your misfortune is amusing in that everything is going wrong from the xbox360 to your fresh TE fightstick. Well at least your getting a Ps3 , my psn is in my profile.
Its not the windows. It is the motherboard that is causing the problem.
To add to that misfortune, i had a ps3 but it got (about 1% chance) yellow light of fucking death. and im reformatting my computer to windows 7, but even with that, i still either need a new computer, a new chipset, or to go kick somebody in the fucking balls.
So basically what your saying is i need a new motherboard?
also a broken ps2, broken ipod, broken gameboy, having windows vista, a custom stick that doesnt work with tekken, you get the idea im the unluckiest mother fucker out there, not to mention i cant get a job to pay for any of this so it all goes straight down the drain.
Things will look up eventually. Don’t let the little things get you down. Just look around. If worse comes to worse youd have to wait a little longer to use your fightstick. You could dual mod it with the 360 fightpad pcb? They run for like 22 bucks.
The PlayStation 3 Chun-Li TE S is the first TE to work on all PC.

also, no, you don’t need another motherboard. If you read that link that was given to you earlier ( which I’m sure you didn’t ) it states exactly what you would need for the PS3 TE’s to work on computers, despite what OS or other specs named.

K ill look for a chipset that will work for under 10 dollars. But before that is there anything i can do to see if i can get it working on its own? like drivers, or configuration of something or a program? I will suck it up and buy a chipset but its possibly among the top 10 most dissappointing things ever paying 200 dollars for something and not even being able to try it until you buy a new chipset, that might not work.
you need to buy a pci card that has a VIA chip.
i bought one for 7 bucks.
that is your cheapest option, period.
