Telling someone to throw as a punish is about the worst advice you can give
easily:rofl:
but I’m seriously, when i play guile i sit back and throw fireballs all day,
seems to work pretty well against the scrubby ones…
as far as better guile are concerned c.Mk and c.mp are your friends
-You can fireball faster than he can sonic boom
-You can cross him up for free
-When he gets predictable with boom, hurricane kick for free close-up pressure
-When up close, c.MK owns his face in the footsie game
-If Guile gets antsy when he falls behind in the damage game, be ready to SRK his jump-ins, since he has no real ground damage starters
In short, it’s a pretty good matchup for Ryu, provided you’ve done your basics homework.
stuff you should use more:
cr. mk in sweep range
j. lk to stuff flash kick
hurricane kick across booms
you need to learn better punishes
hahahahahahahaa
Most people online on the ranked/champ modes are retarded and have no understanding of how the game plays. All they know are special moves and how/when to use them. This means you can almost do whatever you want to them. They’re shooting sonic booms to bait a jump in? Don’t jump in. It’ll mind fuck them and they’re just going to keep throwing them like idiots until you get there.
Fuck a fireball war with Guile. Yeah, you can win it, and in a real match its probably best to out-fireball him. But again, this is random scrubs online. SO! Focus through them, dash in to cover distance. If you suspect an EX boomer and you’re close enough, either jump in hp, or neutral jump then start covering distance again.
Once you get in on them, throw them. Then lk.hurricane kick to get on their other side. This fucks up their sonic-boom charge. KEEP throwing them and fucking up their charge on every knockdown and eventually they will get frustrated and probably EX Flashkick out of frustration. Block it, then do whatever you want to them when they land.
Then laugh violently once they “You’re a throw spamming scrub.” hatemail flies in.
A throw is only an acceptable punish if you are setting up a safejump/unblockable or specifically throwing them into the corner.
And before someone says “there are no unblockable setups in SF4” that is not exactly true, but lets not debate that here.
a couple things to do.
dont jump
if he throws a SB throw a hadoken, u can do it faster then him period just watch for EX SB’s because those are pretty good
let him jump and then SRK dat ass
its an easy matchup let him be the aggressor until your used to the match. once you can beat guile like that its time to learn how to rush his ass down… well in SF4 its not really rushdown but you can be more aggressive.
Throw him before he throws you
Dont nothing but throw
Recieve hatemail and cherish it
This is pretty much my ENTIRE ‘vs. Guile’ game-plan.
…prolly explains why I’m so free to the good ones.
In Street Fighter IV, much like past installments, Guile’s anti-air options are situational. Except Flash Kick is no longer “catch all” ((IE: fuck SFIV)). If you absolutely are going to jump, it’s good to learn the positions of the jumps and what Guile’s options are relative to your character. Trades, and such. With Ryu, you can commit to a few “guess Tatsu’s” and jumps, but only if you feel you can lure Guile into a false sense of security throwing Sonic Booms. It costs a lot of mental energy to throw sonic booms, so that in itself can open up Guile if you can throw projectiles in places where he can’t tag you with a post exchange poke. There are ranges where Guile can jump safely above a hadouken without risk of anti-air… this is usually where you can walk up throw/DP/sweep Guile in a neutral exchange. The last time I played, I was getting fucked up by a Honda that just did jab hands/jump fierce. My time with the game these days is ass, but I did win one game prior to a switch of characters.
What I’m trying to say is that a lot of times I feel that while you can have success by just beating the shit out of a “scrubby Guile”, it’s really hard to play a character like Guile and call him “scrubby.” He has one thing he does and online tactics aside (abuse of lag for moves that would normally be punishable, stupid shit like that), a Guile player is either “Shitty”, “solid”, or “Super Solid.” A friend explained this to me, and I’ve pretty much believed it. Ryu definitely wins that match, it’s a matter of being comfortable throwing your projectiles, keeping Guile’s jumps honest, and just out playing him in footsies, because near as I can tell, Guile should be the one working his ass off, not you.
The instant you’re able to apply pressure, Guile’s pretty much toast. It’s especially true in IV. The key is knowing what options you have to get in, and what buttons you have at what ranges. It’s basic street fighter. If you commit to a “guess Tatsu”, sometimes you shouldn’t even be looking to hit Guile, just LK tatsu over a few sonic booms from max range and work on building up your super meter. You don’t need an FADC Ultra to ruin Guile’s day, just being in his face is a bad situation for him.
To the people complaining about lag–imagine it taking 2 seconds before any special moves/ultras/supers comes out… welcome to the world of charge characters… LOL
Please never post anything this insane again.
This man speaks the truth. I hate having my Blanka’s charge get fucked up by people who jump after knocking me down. It will surely frustrate them.
Remember, if you made them mad, then you won the battle on the screen and the one in the mind.
ha ha ha that tickled me.
Hey milken is sorta right. Trying to use charge moves on wakeup can be a pain if you’re fighting a freaking Kengaroo.
I’m going to coin that term, Kengaroo.
So don’t do moves on wakeup.
I don’t like getting grabbed, mate.
what is a tech
If you cannot beat ‘scrub’ guiles, and you say you have decent footsies, then well you may not have decent footsies. VS scrub anyone, somewhat decent footwork is going to make you win. Yes, walk back and jump back are the best moves in the game, and it’s harder to punish that in this game because of so much space, but they are one dimensional.
Things to note:
1.scrub guiles only know UF, UB, and back.
2.They’ll throw out random Flash kicks after block strings. Fish for them.
3.It requires faith on scrub guile’s part to do the jump throw thing. THey usually do it after a sonic boom. I would say take the block/neutral jump and laugh at guile’s horrible close up game.
4. Walk them to the corner.
5.Give the GAME SYSTEM respect, if you are not going to respect the player. A DP ultra hurts (or in this case, guile random ultra) no matter is behind the controller. Just know that you cannot steam roll a guy in this game if the player doesn’t know what they’re doing. A guy you are 5x better than in marvel is going to die in 10 seconds, in this game, it might take you 40.
6. MASH DP the c.hk. You have enough time after blocking the first hit of the c.hk
This is pretty much the flow chart way to beat flow chart shenani-scrubs anyways…
