How can people watch Tougeki 2012 this year?

Kuroda is the only reason I still have intreast in sbo

What in the ever loving shit happened?

This is turning out worse than Planet Zero [S]qualifiers[/S] ANYTHING.

VF5, Tekken Tag 2 and AE finished about an hour ago, watched it on stream, nobody was drunk, everything worked fine. Seats looked pretty empty, but the venue is taking place at some backwater place and it was evening/night already.

I dont think the SBO matches are going to be uploaded to youtube at least not for a While

For what it’s worth, timeshifting seems to just work on Niconico Live.

How dare you argue with the twitter posts! SBO is a mess, all the players hate it, they are clearly drunk, the glare means they can’t see and just hitting buttons, and SBO staff once again spit in the faces of foreigners who were too stupid to look up where it was taking place so they had to spend a good chunk of change travelling but again how dare SBO not be near their hotel!

Like I said, don’t argue with the twitter posts!

SBO is supposed to be the most prestigious Japanese tournament, and its already universally reviled by both US and JP competitors. They had it outdoors, there was over-whelming sun glare, literal bugs in the cabinets, strange slow-downs and disconnects on the network, and a dumb single-game single-elim format.

I’d be curious to see who actually LIKED SBO this year. I think Evo has officially taken the podium for best tournament series where the TO’s actually know wtf they’re doing.

Oh, and did I mention duct-taped cardboard boxes surrounding the console TVs to prevent glare? lol. Grass roots productions indeed.

SBO being outside isn’t inherently a bad thing, just some decisions were poor in how they handled it. Don’t go taking twitter posts you find and applying it to everyone. SBO is considered prestigious because of the competition not the production(although that has a part in it) but competition takes precedent and in that regard, so far, SBO has been fine. The matches were played, those network problems were ironed out before tournament and if you watched the stream, things ran just fine. SBO were quick to handle those network issues and dealing with the glare problem, you can mock their solutions but at least they came up with fucking solutions for the players sake. SBO format is SBO format, you’re about 10 years too late to bitch about it now.

Also don’t go comparing SBO to EVO, they aren’t similar tournaments. Stick to reading twitter for your information.

Also I enjoyed watching the matches, so I liked it.

I’ve tried w/ (4) cards to add nicopoints. (2) VISA & (2) Matercards, Yes I"ve completed VISA-Verify & MasterCARD-Security codes. Still errors… was tryin to host a party tonight for some TOUGEKI… anyone have recommendations?

WebMoney is completely beyond me… also, I purchased the stream last year w/ the same process & VISA card. wtf

Call your bank(s) and see if they can do something for you to allow the cards to go through.

Is it entirely fair to discount the opinions of tournament participants by citing the stream as a source?

it’s called having empathy. just because i didn’t go to sbo myself doesn’t mean that i shouldn’t comment or complain about things that are obviously wrong. also reading comprehension mustn’t be your strong suit since all my criticism went towards sbo and not the numerous venues that payed $3,000 just to go an overrated tournament. but i guess i should thank heaven that the kings of sbo were so gracious to take only $3,000 dollars to give people the gift of watching cicadas gently chewing on arcade machine cords. how lucky we all are!

I think you guys are missing the point. It’s a very Japanese tournament, so it’s obviously better than any filthy baka gaijin tournament over here.

Kappa

Bitter tournament participants? I’d say so. At no point did I say it was perfect but when there’s a problem you work to get it fixed up, not hold yourself up in the corner with your phone tweeting how terrible it is. Events in america have this problem all the time. They should be thankful that SBO tried to make things work out better, but we’re in an era where whining about shit is the thing to do. Did those participants have a good time? Idk, they could have, if they chose not to then o well?

Like seriously reading that kayane post of nothing but whining and blaming SBO for her own dumb decision of finding a place to stay 3 hours away is pretty funny.

Way to make shit up as well, totally falls under your empathy plea

Your post is good without that part otherwise your calling the people you just showed your so called empathy fools cause by your godly standards SBO is just some overrated tournament. I am sorry that I like SBO because its different(not better or worst) having team and single elimination. And sadly weather the U.S wins or loses its a lose/lose for the community since people will always bandwagon in all situations hopefully its just a great showing of Marvel.(and I’m rooting for the U.S if you were wondering)

are you referring to my obvious use of hyperbole or the FACT that venues pay $3,000 dollars to gain an sbo qualifier? also my opinion of SBO being overrated has nothing at all to do with whether or not I’m being empathetic to their position. you would do well to use your internet resources to check the meaning of such terms before you make the mistake of correcting me again.

Is that possible? Once upon a time your EVO looks like something held in someone’s basement while SBO looked like it’s made for TV. But nowadays while EVO is growing in strength exponientally every year your SBO is regressing and becoming a bigger joke. People are complaining for the simple reason that they feel the Japanese scene deserves better, but Togueki is refusing to get better. They promised double eliminations for AE and free streams, yet in the end they didn’t deliver. How could it be that SBO is supposed to be uncriticizable if the organizers don’t give a damn and don’t want to grow up?

Kayane could choose where she books her hotel, what about those who live in Japan which the event is supposed to be for? Should they be happy about being forced to take 3 hour bus rides?

Bad is bad, common sense would told anyone that being held outdoors means the stupid sun making your experience not very enjoyable. Unless they held the event in an air-conditioned tent I find it hard to see how it being outdoors isn’t a bad thing.

Damn, I know these opinions would be a lot different if SBO hadn’t attached their names to it. A bad event is a bad event. I don’t know if they are gonna be around next year, if they are I hope changes are made but come the fuck on. Stop damage controlling.

From a viewer’s perspective I think sbo was great. From what I understand all the complaints that the players had (cabs lagging, sun glare, heat) come from the fact that the event was held from the morning throughout the afternoon. The only mistake they made is not holding the event at night. Think about it: cool summer air + arcade games equals awesome.

I think the outdoor idea was great and they should do it next year too but they should be sure not to repeat the same mistake again.
