After using another card, the purchase went thru & our party was a success. The stream was really good. Matches the entire time.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
But i agree, this year sbo was as for production values goes, garbage, that it is something that evo is getting better, as for competition and games variety, SBO>EVO any day.
No reason why Evo can’t go the SBO route and have qualifiers. The reason the competition is so varied at Evo is because it’s an open tournament. Anybody and everybody can go to Evo and participate. And I never said that Evo has the highest player ability out of all the tournaments. I meant my comment to say that they’re the best tournament series because they’re ran by passionate TO’s that know what the fuck they’re doing.
It’s ridiculous to think that since SBO has such high-level talent that their production values would be so bad. Single game single elim format isn’t fair to anybody and rarely rewards consistent players. It rewards whoever has the easier bracket. Super Arcade spent a ton of money to have SBO quals and to get their players to Japan, and even then the Nico stream made it insanely difficult/impossible for people outside of Japan to view the stream. And when the players get there, having spent some of their own money as well, they’re treated to an unfair tournament format, while having to play outdoors, where they get to deal with glare off the cabs, networks drops, slow-downs, and failues, cicadas, and the ridiculous summer heat.
So while their competition may be high, they had the production value of a backyard BBQ. It’s a shame. The players’ ability won’t redeem the TOs for the epic fail of a job that they did with SBO this year, and I hope they learn from their mistakes, and make next year’s SBO something worth striving for.
Yeah let’s call them something like EVO EAST and EVO WEST!
