How can people watch Tougeki 2012 this year?

Most top Japanese players have abandoned any semblance of a true competition at Tougeki and have started drinking alcohol at the venue.

Welp.

This thread really shows me what a great idea outdoor tournaments are.

Ya, I should have said it SHOULD be the filet minon of tournies. But between this and #planetzero, it’s seeming more and more big mac.

“We should have SBO outdoors this year - what could go wrong?”

(Everything.)

It’s official, SBO and the Japanese fighting game scene is ruined forever by America. Well done, DJ Huoshen.

Video game tourny outdoors in the middle of Japanese summer… Maybe if it was in Hokkaido or something with a nice breeze… maybe but come the fuck on. Seriously did anyone even think “hmm screens + sunlight = bad?” Then theres no tent over the “crowd” when its most likely going to randomly rain…

REALLY dont see how this was allowed to happen in so many ways.

Also, this.

lol.

-facepalm-

New SBO meem pic has been created and will forever be posted in fighting game chat channels.

Or you know, it ruined itself because SBO staff are fucking idiots for deciding this was a good idea.

For all its worth the FGC likes talking bout its grass roots but when shit goes bad they all go esports on us it’s a video game guys, plus most of you didn’t even make the trip. it’s an outside tournament big deal they had announced that a long time ago and its not like Japan is begging the U.S player to go to SBO, It’s not like they’re paying a big amount of cash.

And if you paid then enjoy it or you should have made your research since this is not the first time SBO has been streamed on Nico Nico.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?! you do know that in order to host a qualifier the venue has to pay $3,000 to sbo right? they are then REQUIRED to pay HALF of the the winners expensive ass plane ticket. the winner themselves have to then pay the other half along with hotel accommodations and so forth only to play on LAGGY machines with bugs in them. not to mention the glare that prevents players from seeing half the screen. why are defending SBO again?

I’ll say it all day long.

Fuck SBO.

#PLANETZERO

And I quote
" WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!"
most of the matches I have seen on stream are fine.
"you didn’t even make the trip"
SBO has been going on for a long time you should be greatfull that there is venues and players willing to still go to represent the U.S and you should thank them for putting an effort to go every year even in the dark times.

"For all its worth the FGC likes talking bout its grass roots but when shit goes bad they all go esports on us"
Your just like people i mentioned whining about things that didn’t actually affect you.

Lol, Acqua says the SF4 waiting room stinks of alcohol.

Good shit SBO.

We’re going to see some high level matches this year.

lol. Bugs in the cabinets, raining outside with glare, and laggy connection. GOOD SHIT. At least Marvel won’t be that bad.

OWI???

Maybe they thought Marn was coming again.

I swear some of the Japanese players play better when they are inebriated. :smokin:

All that secret alcohol technology comes out.

I try hard to be positive about anything FGC related whenever it’s possible, but I don’t see any way to label this as anything but a disaster, and a pretty strange one at that. I mean… what the FUCK? For years SBO was like the Olympics of fighting games… fucking Kuroda entering the arena through a smoke machine, qualifiers so brutal that just competing at the event was an honor, and then a few years later… again what the fuck? Progressively crappier venues capped off by this insanity, poorly organized qualifiers, and of course the whole “uh, you’re not actually going to be in the tournament. Sorry.” thing. Did the leadership change or did they all get addicted to hard drugs?

I want to see high level drunken Street Fighter play.
