I’m pissed these days at how SF4 is so much more popular than SF3, but then I ask myself:
How the hell can I get good at 3rd strike, or anyone for that matter?
The only realistic and reliable option for online play I know of that can get you decent matches is GGPO, which is where I play.
But its no surprise new players don’t stick around long: How the hell is anyone supposed to have fun and get better?
I’ve gotten -not bad- with Akuma and Dudley, still getting owned by many in there but I can hold my ground just enough so I can deal with them.
Problem is, I’m no pro, or amateur pro, or wannabe pro, whatever. And I want to play other characters, and whatever I do, I just get slaughtered.
I’ve watched thousands of pro matches, heck even practiced with a lot of characters, but its all entirely meaningless if you don’t have experience. But my experience is just getting crushed constantly, all day, again and again.
So… how is anyone supposed to get in the game at all or get good when all there is to play, are people that are way too good for you? Playing better people you have a chance against is fun and can make you better, I get that… but I don’t recall learning anything out of the matches I get destroyed, except that I suck, and they certainly ain’t fun (which is why I’m playing).
What the hell am I supposed to do? I wanted to bring a friend in this too, but screw that, I myself destroy him, no way he can ever get anywhere. Its kind of a weird question here and I certainly have respect to all good players on GGPO, but without lesser players to play with, I have no idea how to get better in general or just have fun at all.
Been playing for 2 years, but hey, maybe I’m missing more basics than I thought? Is there anything to get players in the game or is this now really just an “old pro only” game?
