On ultra hard, the bear hug is almost a one shot…least for me. For the ice spikes…I find the best way to deal with them (assuming you know it’s coming) it to do short rolls in zig zag patterns. Unfortunately if 3 of them spam em’ at once I don’t think you can dodge them all.
Basically Iv’e you’re gona probably have to outlast them (easier said then done right?). And whittle them down slowly. Tie two down. And focus killing one at a time. But I haven’t used that strat yet. Will try on my next playthrough. And I was in my 50’s when I first encountered them.
Haven’t used the rattler much though. Never really liked it.
Vs Frost Claws/Flame Claws, use the new weapons. They’re tailor-made for them. I was using a SHITTON of ammo vs them and trying to break every part of their armor because they just wouldn’t stop hitting me hard. Then I decided to use the Flamthrower/Ice Thrower and boom!.. and few charged shots to the chest from far away and the splatter shots when you dodge their Claws and you take them down considerably faster.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
At the part with the 3 Frost Claws? I wanted to cry.
I found a ruin where’s there’s an ancient set of armor. I need two power cells to get to it and I can’t find them anywhere in these ruins. How Am I suppose to complete this quest?
You’ll have to hit the internet. That’s what I did. Plenty of non-spoiler lists on where to find the cells. But you won’t be able to get one until late in the game (as in RIGHT before the big last quest).
If you like challenge in the game though, you MAY want to stay away. That armor makes a lot of stuff super easy.
Rattler is best DPS vs frozen enemies and I’m guessing stagger is also partially damage based because you can pretty much wreck a frozen Thunderjaw with Rattler before he can take an action. Obviously it’s maximum effectiveness is frozen plus armor removed, so maybe use tearblaster first then freeze, then Rattler. But for most enemies you don’t need to bother removing armor really, the Rattler will do a decent job at that anyway lol
But yeah, the key is to freeze them.
All power cells are in story dungeons except for one in the ruins you visited as a kid(you can revisit it as an adult at any time). As long as you explore thoroughly, you can’t miss them.
Tripcaster works wonders. Oh man, where has this thing been all my late life? Blast wire is godly with frostclaws. This is amazing. I’ll never shelf you again tripcaster! <3 < 3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Only thing I don’t like about tripcaster is the hitbox is really picky for hitting two enemies at once(if it’s even possible?). You’d think a weapon like that would have really nice area of effect but it seems to just hurt the first thing that touches it only.
Yeah, but I’m ok with that. It’s still a machine of a weapon. I haven’t used it in a while and when I was on the murder mystery FW quest I had to fight two frostclaws and with low resources. So I pulled out the ol tripcaster after dying several times and I pulled trough.
Tripcaster wires can hit multiple machines provided one aims/shoots the anchor points in a way that the resulting tripwire hits/makes contact through the targeted/intended machines (in a line) in whatever instance.
I’ve had numerous instances of damaging/destroying duos of small/mid sized machines with one well-aimed (and modded) Blast Wire, alongside inflicting elemental states on machine duos with Fire/Shock Wire on some occasions.
Tripcaster, sling shots, ropecaster and the stormslinger. Fav weapons in the game I would have like the tear blast shotgun but…you can’t mod it. And it’s not super good either.
Whaaaaat??? Tearblaster is amazing at stripping machines, and easier to aim up close compared to tear blast arrows, plus having better rate of fire. It doesn’t even really need mods with how good it is
Well I only tried it a few times and wasn’t really doing the job. I’ll give it another go since I like shotguns anyway. Not sure how well it works on ultra hard though.
If you’ve played Vanquish it’s more like the LFE Gun. Short range but a wide projectile and mostly for utility, not damage. One shot square on any appendage should detach it, and probably some armor in the process
Ah vanquish, that was a good game. Wasn’t a fan of god hard though. Also didn’t like the auto slow-mo either.
Oh also some foreshadowing
Spoiler
Hephaestus is still lurking in the world. So does this mean hades and Hephaestus will be back in H2? Since when you beat the game and talk to CYAN again she states that hep is just making more machines. Then you get a call from sylens talking about how hep wants aloy dead. So…yes? no?
I just hung out in the rock formation to the left of the entrance and used triple nocked tear arrows to take his legs out, then the usual run of ropecaster, bombs and freezing. The key is to set yourself up so that you’re just a roll away from some cover.
