Horizon: Zero Dawn (Now Out!)

Couple of triple tear blaster arrow shots, bunch of firearrow shots, easy dead storm bird lol.

How you fellas killing the 2 corrupted rockbreakers? Killing one normal bastard was bad enough but having 2 of em dp me is getting old real fast.

Stood on the rock formation in the area they were in and just sniped from there.

Also, my brother somehow led them close to the water where he just sniped them from across the river.

I tried standing on the rocks thinking my knowledge of the movie tremors would save me, but they just burrowed under and blew it apart lol.

Go for the big arches in the middle of the map. They cannot burrow through those.

I haven’t even tried the Rattled yet. Still trying to come up with a good strat for Stormbirds as well, always have to cheese them out.

I’d imagine a Rattled with some good Tear Mods on it would be really useful tho.

Maybe two 50% tear and a shock mod could deal with stalkers. I’ll fuck with it later.

I usually use my rope caster to tie them down and obliterate them with my grenades.
Once they try to fly again i tie them down inmediately. Rinse and repeat.

I think Aloy must mean glass of water in Nora. It would explain the amount of thirst she causes. Everyone from paupers to kings want a piece of her.

She is beautiful though. Beautiful women get hit on all the time. Add to that her reputation of fucking up bad machines, and it’s not surprising everyone is trying to wife her up.

The woman making the cannon was trying to get a peice whips and chains style.

Errand was like… “cmon girl! Ill getchya drunk!”

That Oseram woman? I was laughing my ass off. I’m literally preparing defenses to save the world and she’s eyeing Aloy up and down. It’s like Twitch chat whenever a girl is visible on stream.

Yeah, that one.

I was thinking about a secondary fire for the ropecaster that would be cool would be a winch function of sorts, let Aloy scale verticle surfaces or take to the side of a clifface or structure to shoot arrows from, or stealth approaches in certain areas.

So what is everyone’s opinion on Horizon? It’s my game of the year right now. I’ve always found Guerilla Games to be capable of producing technically impressive games. Horizon is the first one of their games, for me, that had the substance to back up the superior technical presentation. It’s not just a pretty face. It’s a well crafted masterpiece.

Easily my game of the year atm.

Anyone else looking forward to E3 and the possibility that they announce the DLC expansion?

Its kind of a breath of fresh air for me and open world games. I general don’t get this engaged by them.

Weapons seemed kind of limited at first but for all situations there is something for them and the various ammo type to cover. I’d enjoy more options for spear combat besides the conditional strikes and just whacking things or overrides. Ropecaster trivializes things.

Speaking of overrides I was kinda bummed lure doesn’t call beats you’ve overridden once you get indefinite override or that you can only mount a handful of the beasts. Riding a thunderjaw or a shell walker or stormbirds would be dope. Drop lighting all over bandit camps because… Well why the hell not?

Its probably the first open world game that has me running around exploring and doing all the side content first simply because of how engaging it is for the most part. Being able to approach things in a variety of ways keeps things fresh and even when you’re powerful if you don’t pay attention to things you still die.

Not a huge fan of the climbing but it makes sense why its handled as such. I still want my ropecaster to have a winch or something, open new avenues and get me to some picturesque locales.

The bestiary is kinda limited, And once you discover the most efficient way to deal with things nothing is very difficult unless you run yourself out of supplies. Since the cauldrons created the apex predators in response to machines being hunted it’d be cool if they’d patch in random new beats every once in a while or evolve kinda like the sawtooth to the ravager or change their AI or attacks or something to keep things fresh.

The trivia behind some of the collectibles and places you scan in the wilderness can be pretty funny and the game delivers humor more often than if have thought from the pace the game set at the beginning.

The trials were all fun and did a good job of being tutorials since the game doesn’t really have one (which I kinda like, doesn’t hold your hand much, feels better to figure shit out)

Can’t speak to the story fully cause I only went to the excavation site last night and that’s only because I accidentally stumbled across it despite having about 35 hours in it.

Looking forward to whatevs may come for the series.

Edit: human enemies have yet to present a challenge. Surely in this land of survival and hunters and war there are cats that could present some struggle

It’s Game of the Year to me. But we’re only half way through the year, so we’ll see.

Goty was yakuza 0. But then I played this. Still have p5 in the queue so we’ll see.

This game stomps Breath of the Wild though

Yakuza 0 > Horizon for me atm, plus Kiwana is about to be released and that’s just going to shit on everything.

I think Horizon is a great game but I can only play it for an hour or 2 at a time. It’s not the best open world game I’ve played, I would rate it slightly less than AC3 and 4.

It’s either Horizon or Persona 5 for me, thus far.
