I haven’t tried it, but I’m about 90% sure its a no.
Soldering seems to be the most reasonable option here.

Zoom out on world
Dude, It’s really not that hard. You can practice for like 20 minutes on something with no value and gain the skills necessary to solder wires to your buttons.
theres enough clearance for a happ stick, but i hope you like drilling and cutting metal
Found someone selling one of these sticks locally for somewhat cheap. What would you guys say the difficulty of this mod is on a scale of 1-10?
how much is he selling it to you for?
I give it a 5.
As long as you can read, follow directions and use common sense.
I think the hardest part of this mod is having the right tools. The rest is a breeze.
He has it listed for $50, but i’m going to try and haggle with him.
Yeah, unless its in LNIB condition i wouldnt pay that much. Although, all joystick prices are up right now. Good luck with it. If you do get the stick feel free to pm me if you have any questions or run into any trouble during the mod.
This is what your starting with.
Using a Phillips head screw driver take the 8 screws out. Using the socket take the nuts off that are holding the top plate on.

This is what it looks like once you open it up
Next you want you take the 4 screws out that are holding the Hori stick onto the mounting bracket. Make sure you save these, youll need them to install the JLF. After taking the screws out, cut all 8 wires that are soldered to the switches. Cut as close to the switches as possible.

Hope you watched acouple of videos on youtube about soldering/desoldering. Your gonna have to desolder all 10 buttons. It helps to wiggle/pull slightly on the pcb when desoldering to get the board to lift up.

Once you have the pcb off you will see all the buttons. Notice the tabs, push those in to remove the buttons from the plate.

After removing the buttons you will notice 2 tabs on each button hole. Youll have to grind those off. This is what it should look like when your done. Also i sprayed the plate with some rustoleom to help prevent rust in the future. Note: You will not have to modify the start/select holes.

The plate is ready for the buttons to be installed. But youll run into a problem. The buttons will snap in but wont sit flush with the plate. To fix this youll have the grind down 4 tabs that are on the button. Once you do this, they will snap in perfectly and sit completely flat.

Now that the buttons are mounted youll need to get the JLF ready to be mounted. First thing youll have to do is remove the mounting plate if your JLF came with one. Do this by removing the 4 screws holding it on. Make sure you use a screwdriver that fits perfectly. These screws are notorious for stipping. Once you have done that youll need to remove the gate by lifting the tabs and pulling it. After that youll have to drill out 4 tabs so the mounting screws will be able to go through. I marked with black marker where to drill.
Reinstall the gate on the JLF. Now the holes you just drilled should line up with the screw holes on the mounting plate on the top plate. Using the 4 long screws you took off the hori stick, secure the JLF.
This next step i forgot to take alot of pics. but its pretty simple.
You have to wire up the pcb. What i did was cut 16 pieces of wire the same length. Then i stripped one side of the wire. Then twisted the exposed wire. Now its ready to be soldered onto the pcb. Solder onto the green side of the pcb. Once youve done that you will have alittle extra wire sticking up, use pliers to cut it off. Do this for all the buttons your gonna be using. When done, strip the other side of the wire and crimp you quick disconnects on. Then connect them to the buttons. doesnt matter which prong is the ground on the buttons.
Now to wire up the joystick. I used a terminal to do this. I put all the common grounds from the pcb in one slot and wired it to the ground from the joystick. On the rest of the wiring i followed this-

After that close it up and test it to make sure everything on your Stick works.
Heres my finished stick-

When you take it to get printed ask them to print it on legal paper, but NOT to resize it to fit the media.
On mine i first printed it on regular paper, cut it out. then i lamilabeled it.
Hope this helps.
im new to the forums an saw this thread recently, i wanted to ask if any of you guys came across moddin the t5 plate to fit korean stick?
I havent heard of anyone on here doing it yet. JLF is easy to do, LS involves alot of work to the plate. So i would assume the fanta sticks will take even more work possibly.
yep yep, im havin a friend make me a duplicate metal panel for the t5 stick. cause i had to make the change to ls since LL ran out of jlf’s. so the stock mounting plate will not be a problem. so any tips on also mounting a ls stick?
If you look somewhere in the middle of this thread you can see how they did it. Where ever you want you stick mounted your gonna have to drill four holes on the plate.
I’m trying to do it now, but on a Wii Fighting stick (very similar to T5 stick).
There’s a few problems: Korean sticks need a 35 mm hole for the joystick , which means you have to drill an extra 5 mm all the way around for the joystick (it’s 25mm when you buy it).
You’ll also want the korean stick to only stick up about 2 mm above the metal (according to Paik, I believe), so in order to do that, the Korean stick won’t even fit completely in the T5 casing. You’ll need to drill some room out on the bottom.
Korean 28mm buttons seem to fit fine in the button holes, but not a completely tight fit.
So bottom line is, you need more than a dremel… you need a hole saw if you want to fit a Korean stick in this type of casing.
awesome, so just make a 35mm hole for the stick. well ill see if i can whip that up nxt week. thanks
Could anyone give me a quick rundown on how to use quick disconnects? Do I need to fit the wires into the female and use the wire stripper to “pinch” the wires into the disconnect? Also, how do you go about grinding the tabs off of the buttons? Do you use a dremel to grind them down?

What is that black thing where all the wires are connected to?
barky- QDs are very simple to use. Just strip the wire just enough that when you stick it in to the open end of the QD it doesnt stick out of the little metal “chamber”. This chamber is the part that you will be crimping. If you look at the pic of me holding the qd you can see what part of the connector i crimped.
As for the tabs, its pretty straight forward. Use a coarse metal file, dremel w/grinding head or a drill with some kind of grinding attachment.
Alu- That black thing is a different kind of terminal, similar to the one i used.
Where can I pick one of those up? I would like to use it in my upcoming mod project. thnx in advance.
Radio shack or online, like eBay.
