Anybody have good pictures/description of how to fit an LS-33 in the T5? Unless you can get an octagonal gate on an LS-32, that is.
what kind of drill do i use to make the holes on the gate? and whats the process in how to take the stick apart so i can get to this? thnx for the pics
All you really need is a hand drill. My dad had one laying around from the early 90’s so I used it =). Just use a drill bit that fits in the hole. You’ll know what I’m talking about once you look at the gate. On that other side of the hole is a plastic tab that holds the microswitch in place.
- Unscrew back panel of T5
- Use a 7mm nut screwdriver or a pair of pliers to unscrew the nuts that secure the top plate.
- Take off the PS2 cord to make things easier (again, self explanatory once you look at it)
do the sanwa obn-24 fit perfectly on the little buttons for start and select?
yes, they fit just fine without any dremmeling/etc.
A word on choosing sanwa or seimitsu buttons, there is a difference in fit of the snap-ins and screw-ins. They all fit yes, but…
I used Seimitsu screw-ins 30mm and 24mm. I found that Sanwa snap-ins fit too tightly in the holes, even with the tabs dremeled out. It was kind of a good thing for me, because I found that I prefered the “springy” feel of the seimitsus’.
Desoldering the HORI buttons is pretty simple actually. I never desoldered anything before and I found this tool to be pretty easy to use. Plug it in, let it heat up for about 5 minutes, hold in one hand with the bulb squeezed. Place it on desired solder point to be removed, as soon as the solder melts, suck it up.

Finished desoldered PCB.
thanks for the pics…there really helpfull… some people work great with visual aids i guess
Indeed. I had no idea how that soldering bulb worked.
Good lookin’ out.
I prefer using solder suckers. I find them better than bulbs. More suction =)
I’ll make a guide for modding the T5 stick that is similar to my HRAP2 modding guide once I get to it =)
what kind of hand file is good for grinding the tabs down?
i still think soldering braid/wick is better performance/$ than the bulbs or suckers.
just get a file that looks big enough and “removes material fast”. its pretty hard to get the “wrong” file.
I use braid for smaller amounts of solder. So, if there’s a big glob, sucker first, then braid =)
this hasnt been discussed here…but if you want to do your own art…what kind of contact paper do you use? and what kind of glue?
I would like to know how, what, and where to get the materials to do your own custom artwork as well. Artwork that actually looks good and is durable. What adhesive you use, where to print the art, what resolution should the art be before printing, how to remove the existing art etc. etc. If there is a dedicated thread for this please show the link. I have seen a few post here and there but no tutorials or anything like that.
Thanks all.
uh you can peel off the existing art or just paste over
you can print the art at kinko’s. youre basically printing a large sticker, so youre going to want to ask for “adhesive vinyl”. depending on which kinkos you go to they may or may not have an issue with copyright and w/e for street fighter stuff. so obviously the solution is to print a picture of some anime chick with hueg boobs. this is clearly a good solution because a lot of people have pictures of anime chicks on their sticks.
resolution…dont really have a good answer for this but if it works as a desktop wallpaper (as in doesnt look completely like shit) then it should work as stick art. coincidentally the dimensions are (sort of) in the same proportions. also there are a lot of wallapers of anime girls so that should help in your search for stick art
there was a thread for this before but i cant find it
I think I saw your post on another thread, maybe the FS3 mod thread. I printed artwork at Kinko’s on adhesive vinyl and it just didnt turn out as nicely as I expected. It looked like it was printed off my home inkjet printer. Maybe I just had a shitty pic, or maybe becuase I did mine in matte. Can you post some of your custom artwork that you had done at Kinko’s, and any tips on how to get the best out of a Kinko’s print.
thank you.
i just asked them to print it, lol. didnt give specs or anything, just said hey print this in 11x13 thanks
well here are pictures of my modded T5 (camera is kinda lol but i think you get the idea)

i dont know if this is “good quality” to you but its not pixelated or anything. my friend who knows nothing about sticks thought the art came like that
i have mine printed in glossy but i dont think it affects quality much, people have also said (in this thread or that other one) that they print in matte
what kinda pic are you trying to print? sometimes it doesnt turn out right if the girl isnt from a popular anime or if her character sucks or something. so i guess youre outta luck if you want to make a TenTen stick (lucky star sticks are still ok!)
…
seriously though, could you post the picture youre trying to get on your stick? maybe the resolution isnt high enough i dunno
EDIT: i was going to resize the first pic but decided not to because you can get a closer look at the quality of the print. the funny lines are from the camera not the art
My friend went to a kinkos and they recommended him to print it on “lamilabel.” Something about adhesive vinyl not able to show colors well or something like that.
That looks good DominoLogic, mine was not as good for some reason. It only cost 8.00 for a print so, I guess I can experiment a few more times. Thanks
So, I’m trying to mod my Arcana Heart stick (which is basically the T5 Hori stick), and having a bit of an issue.
So I was able to remove the PCB from the buttons, now my main issue is trying to get the buttons back onto the PCB.
The new buttons I’m trying to put in, the pins are un-even so I’m unable to put the PCB itself back on.
I was looking at what aggrastat posted with all those wires, but I don’t have a full understand how that works. So I’m wondering what exactly can I do here to get my stick working again.
I mean, do I have to buy new wires and have them taped onto the PCB or something, or what? I read thru most of the thread here, and I’m a little confused on how all this works =(
