Hori Real Arcade PRO V3 "SA" Thread - (Available Now! Check OP!)

Just one question, how is the cable compartment compared the one in the TE? More specifically, is it easier to pack the cable in and is the door not as flimsy?

the amazon one is typical of past Amazon ones right?
Sanwa jlf and hori buttons

It is easier to pack in the cable. The difference is due to the cable length (3m on the Hori vs 4m on the TE).

This is still full Sanwa, hence the “SA.”

ah yeah i looked again
the pricing threw me off.
Man they still get it for that price with super saver shipping too in japan? Must be nice.

Yeppers, and the compartment is larger too.

I just got one, ordered it two nights ago and got it this morning, been enjoying it.

My comments shouldn’t be taken to heavily, as this is my FIRST arcade stick ever. I read you guys saying it’s light and it really is, but it didn’t bother me playing at all. The stick itself is great, the buttons are sanwa, as I haven’t used sticks that much the buttons felt weird at first but I’ve become aquatinted with them well.

Overall the stick feels good and plays well. I actually really like the placement of the start button for quick tapping to skip post round replays etc. I never bump it on accident and it’s pretty nice. The cable compartment works well, it’s a little tight for the cable but I think that’s just to keep it from knocking around, it’s not overly tight or anything and easy to put away.

I’m in a bit of a stick craze after getting this one, I need a second player stick and I think I will pick up MadCatz Street Fighter IV Round 2 stick, not that I dislike this one, but I haven’t used it before so I want to compare.

I have a few questions.

Is there going to be a SE model? I’d like to give their buttons a go as I’ve heard they have a bit more resistance and I wouldn’t mind trying that to see what it feels like.

Does anyone know if there are going to be any changes to the Viewlix model besides that it will be longer? I guess the button placement will be SLIGHTLY different, and it’ll be heavier, maybe have a bigger cable compartment but is anything else different? will it be made out of the same materials?

Are there any advantages to the HRAP 3-SA (as in, the older one without the V) I just got the V and love it, but have heard that the older model is heavier, has more of a slant, etc. as seen on this page here

Stick Comparison

are these good things or bad things? or just different?

is anyone here a fan of the SE parts?

I heard the Virtua Stick High Grade had some issues so I suppose I’ll avoid that.

I’d like to get an SE PS3 stick but if the old ones are sold out and they won’t make new ones, I guess I’ll have to pick up an Xbox 360 one.

I never agree on a pro stick should have 8 buttons.

I do not really want my opponent over the internet using Turbo for ChungLi or E.Honda too.

This is armament race, not technical competition. :arazz:

Here is your SE model

80$ for that stick is a STEAL.

thanks, and to be fair I have no idea what it’ll be like so I didn’t mean to sound condescending, just curious. Is that 360 vs. of the SE with Seimitsu parts identical to the PS3 one except for the button colors?

Not identical.

HORI Real Arcade Pro. SE has Seimitsu LS-32-01 Joystick.
HORI Real Arcade Pro. SE has Seimitsu PS-14-GX Buttons.

HORI Real Arcade Pro. EX SE has Seimitsu LS-32 Joystick.
HORI Real Arcade Pro. EX SE has Seimitsu PS-14-G Buttons.

thanks that’s really helpful!

I’m researching those parts myself now, forgive me for being a noob, but why the difference? are the one parts used in one arcade machine and the others in another? is there any noticeable differences?

I know the PS3 version is rarer, does this mean it has the rarer parts also? or is that unrelated? Is there any benefit, however minute to the PS3 version seeing as I would have to pay more for it?

Is there any “best” or “most preferred”?

also I will post more pictures of the HRAP V3 SA to stop derailing the thread soon

EDIT:

ok so from what I’ve read the “LS-32-01 comes with the microswitches on a PCB and a wireing harness similar to the way sanwas do” and that the “PS-14-GX snap-in 30mm has higher durability”

I’m sure the differences are minimal but if I could find the PS3 version it’d probably be the way to go.

LS-32-01 has a 5 pin connector

LS-32 does not.

PS-14-GX are the equivalent of Sanwa OBSF-30 RG buttons for Seimitsu, vs the PS-14 in the EX-SE.

First run SE stick for Hori > all Hori SE sticks ;D

You lost me at this statement. Can you explain? Are you missing a reference to “EX” somewhere in there?

No, MarkMan not missing anything.
If I’m right, this should be:
HRAP SE
HRAP 3 SE
HRAP EX SE

MarkMan saying the HRAP SE is cooler than HRAP 3 SE and HRAP EX SE.
HORI Real Arcade Pro. SE was the least Special Edition produced.
So they are super hard to find, and MarkMan has one.
And the Buttons used are discontinued.

panzeroceania, you said PS2 the first time.
So I listed the parts for HORI Real Arcade Pro. SE.

Now I see that you type PS3.
That would be then HORI Real Arcade Pro. 3 SE.

HORI Real Arcade Pro. 3 SE has Seimitsu LS-32-01 Joystick.
HORI Real Arcade Pro. 3 SE has Seimitsu PS-14-G Buttons.

The difference between the HRAP SE and HRAP 3 SE are the Buttons.
Seimitsu PS-14-GX compared to PS-14-G respectively.

Seimitsu PS-14-GX are the Seimitsu equivalent to Sanwa OBSF-30RG.
In fact, they use the same Microswitches, OMRON B2R.
They are rated for more durability than standard.

And yes, Seimitsu LS-32-01 has PCB while LS-32 does not.

Now that you are clear as to which Console HRAP you are talking about:
The only difference between HRAP 3 SE and HRAP EX SE are the Joysticks.

HRAP 3 SE has Seimitsu LS-32-01, HRAP EX SE has Seimitsu LS-32.

oh ok, my mistake, I did mean PS3.

Also I was not aware that there was an HRAP SE, I thought there were only HRAP 3 SE and HRAP EX SE

what did the HRAP SE look like and what was it used for? only in arcades? could it be used with Xbox 360, PS3, or PC?

I was under the impression that HRAP SE and HRAP 3 SE were the same exact stick. So this isn’t true?

EDIT:

did some research, I guess HRAP SE was for use with PS1 and PS2 then.

Many questions can be answered here:

thanks MarkMan, sorry to clutter up the thread

how difficult would it be to mod an HRAP EX SE and put in a LS-32-01 stick? is it even possible to take full advantage of it?

the ideal solution would be to buy the parts in the HRAP SE (PS2) or buy the stick if the parts are no longer available (although the sticks probably aren’t either) and put them in an HRAP 3 but that would be expensive.

I guess it’s best not to obsess, I can just buy the Seimitsu that exist today and install them in a regular stick, no sense in obsessing about the past that I can’t obtain.

ANYways

back on topic. I really do like the layout and feel of the HRAP V3-SA, the stick position give you lots of space for your hands and the wrist rest is well placed too.

You know SE mean Special Edition, and SE-imitsu right?
It already has an LS-32.

There is no play advantage on having LS-32-01 from LS-32.
They both the same, just one has Microswitch PCB, while other does not.

Buy Seimitsu LS-32-01.
Remove the Microswitch PCB and replace with your individual Microswitches.
Or desolder the Microswitches form PCB and use those; BAM! you get LS-32 Joystick.

They both the same thing man.
Nothing different.

And installing a Seimitsu LS-32-01 into an HRAP EX, HRAP EX SA, HRAP EX SE requires work.
Why? Because the Hori PCB is not Common Ground.

Will have to cut Traces on Joystick PCB, or remove the Microswitches from PCB.
Then solder directly to Microswitches.

But what?
Now it turn into LS-32.
Wasn’t LS-32 what in HRAP EX SE before?
So it really does not make sense to do that.

Even Sanwa JLF come in both forms.
JLF-TP-8 and JLT-TM-8.

gotcha, thanks for the info, I’m learning every minute these last few days.

Here real picture of an HRAP SE.

Here is the story on how MarkMan got it.

And no, HRAP are not for arcades.
They for home use.

Where would they even plug into?
Laugh.

HRAP and HRAP 2 made for PlayStation 2.
There was never a HORI Real Arcade Pro. for PlayStation.

HRAP 3 made for PlayStation 3.

HRAP EX made for Xbox 360.
