You will be pleased to know Hori is paying attention to the Japanese and decided to do another run of HRAP 2 SA’s… Means the PS2 fighting scene is alive and well in Japan (at least).
Besides, there have probably been well over 80,000 Hori joysticks made with Astrocade layouts. When you have spare cash, you can probably buy a replacement faceplate with (an Astrocade layout) from someone on SRK once they make it for the V3.
It’s not all about you or me.
It’s about what sells to the most people.
There’s always going to be someone willing to sell custom parts or do customizations but expect to pay more for their services!
At least Art Hong’s consistent and delivers a very fine product.
I don’t necessarily think that the Madcatz sticks were more popular because of the Vewlix layout… The reason Hori is going with the Vewlix layout is because its a more modern panel, all the new shiny games on the Taito cabinets use it.
You really couldn’t get Hori sticks that easily in the states before (I got my HRAP1 in japan, a fairly painless ordeal lol), hell before the TE/SE you couldn’t walk into a US store and buy a stick that you could just drop new buttons into that were japanese arcade spec. I know all about the HRAP2 
And there really hasn’t been anyone making metal replacements (We need to bug Chad about that) for any sticks. There was a short lived run of them a while back, and right now your only option is plexi (Which I love but I really do feel safer with the metal panel underneath the plexi. If I could pix up a six button Astro City Panel for this stick? I’d buy 30. I don’t even want to begin to imagine the price to have one or two fabricated for me…

Thanks a lot! I’ve been waffling back and forth about whether I want to get vinyl custom art or if I want to wait and see if Art ever gets to the HRAP V3 in his to-do list. With this… er… I’m actually still undecided. This template tipped the scales a bit, though.
A plexi would be very cool, but it would necessarily project a millimeter or two above the case…vinyl from GameOnGrafix simulates the original build of the stick pretty well. Go vinyl! :tup:

both the V3 and VX are added on hori store us as ‘in stock’ and orderable
i ordered mine from arcadeshock tho… hopefully i will get mine soon (and same for ppl that ordered theirs from somewhere else)

Dying to get my V3 SA, ordered from arcadeshock. Thought they were gonna ship them early, but at this point i’m willing to buy off amazon and get free two day shipping.
well amazon is not out of stock anymore, but is shipping in 2 to 4 weeks!! WTF! does hori wants to sell from theyre store for a few weeks before send them to re-sellers?? still mine says that will ship today but it is not procesing or anything, just not yet shipped status… =(

well i filled out an order form just to see how much shipping would cost… it said it would be be free shipping to send it to where i am (Florida)… but it didn’t say what method of shipping they would use or an estimated delivery time
thanks for the info, i will keek my amazon order for a few days to see if they shipped it, free shipping is cool from hori, but probably is ground (5-6 days) and i have amazon prime so ill wait and see what happens…
