You might want to consider getting a Round 1 Hrap V3 SA and just recoloring it.
(Anybody can come up with better art than the offical Hori AH3 stick. I consider that stick and the BlazBlue V3’s disapppointing. Mad Catz’s BlazBlue TE stick is much better looking!)
Paint will cost maybe $8 for a quality vinyl/VHT type? Still saving around $100 over the Arcana Heart 3 stick.
Good thing I DON’T like the way that AH3 stick looks.
The pricing for it is nuts!
I’m gonna pass on the limited edition of the PS3 fighter, too.
With the high costs of current import PS3 games — $85-$90 average for some of the latest Japanese games(!!!) —, I’m cutting on the frills a bit.
The art book’s not worth it. I definitely can do without character pins, too.
I still intend on getting AH3 eventually. I really don’t think it’ll be localized for the US.
With the Macross PS3 game, I can at least justify the cost a bit since it’s a hybrid movie/game disc.
Sheesh! I haven’t seen game prices THIS high since the days of the Super Famicom. Even first-gen PS1 and Saturn games were cheaper.
I can remember my sticker shock when I paid $85 and $100 for the (only) two SFC games I ever bought, Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie and Ranma 1/2: Super Battle. When I did the yen conversions, I realized I wasn’t really getting reamed by the importer. The games weren’t that much cheaper in Japan!!!
The only good thing about AH3 is that it doesn’t ship until 2nd week of January next year… At least you can save up money for the game! Christmas money, anyone?
the price seems alright, i mean the HRAP2 SA when it came was about that, ~$210, but for todays economy hurts a lot more lol… and yeah japanese games are off the roof, recently the new pokemon games, a DS GAME for ~$70 dlls!! INSANE for a DS GAME!!
Question to those who already own the V3, how does the stick feel during lap play? Does the angle wrist position and weight bother you? what stick would you compare it most to?
I have a HRAP3 SA but have problems with it when i play it on my lap. damn thing keeps slipping and always end up with a cramped right wrist after a long session. I’ve never had this pro blem when i had my RD1 TE but decided to get the HRAP3 SA since it’s backwards compatible on the PS3. I already have the V3 on pre-order at amazon but I’m not sure if i should just skip out on it or jut buy a TE S stick but even that stick I hear has problems( Emo wrist cutting and buttons flat lining). I’m not one for table top play so any suggestions is gladly appreciated.
I’ve had mine for a while and never had any problems. Wrist position is fine for me. It doesn’t cut into the wrist like the recent TE sticks tend to do. As far as weight is concerned it feels lighter than a TE.
Wrist position feels perfect.
Normally i prefer to play with the fightstick on a table (hori t6) but the weight and size of the v3 make lap play pretty comfortable.
The wrist rest really is the best thing about the V3/VX-SA. It’s something I’d like to see influence future MadCatz products, just as so many aspects of the TE influenced the V3/VX-SA.
I’ve had both at the same time & the V3’s not that much lighter (~1.25 - 1.5 pounds). I hate playing on my lap so can’t comment there however, all this hype/bitching/nagging/whining about the TE-S sticks cutting people are ridiculous! Not saying it’s not possible but you gotta have super soft skin and/or you’re a pansy to get cut!!! Aite, I’m done w/my rant LOL!
Has anyone posted complete measurements of this? I haven’t seen one yet aside from those basic measurements from the Hori site. I’m particularly interested on the dimensions of the bottom of the case (full and bottom plate dimensions and feet hole locations if any). I want to see if I can put two of these on my custom cab.
The Bottom, or the direction of the arrow is the edge toward the player.
Length (Left to Right) : Metal Plate [ 14 3/4 inch ] , Case [ 14 15/16 in ]
Width (Top to Bottom) : Plate [ 9 3/16 in ], Case [9 7/16 in]
There is a smaller section where the cord compartment is, and its just a touch over 9".
Good enough for now, thanks for taking the time to do this. I guess the feet locations can follow later. For now, I just need to make sure the whole thing fits.
