Hori Real Arcade Pro Thread v1 (OLD THREAD) Please use new thread linked in first post

NEW THREAD IS HERE:

This post is in progress and will forever need updating.

IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP PROVIDE INFORMATION, PHOTOS, DETAILS, OR PERHAPS EVEN HELP DO RESEARCH USING THE LINKS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS FIRST POST IN SPOILER TAGS AND REPORT BACK, IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

It’s taken me a lot of time to gather this information up so far, put it in a neat format, find photos and resize etc. If you can volunteer to help for the good of all arcade stick lovers and SRK TT, please do.

First off, I’ve gotta shout out @Superking for the original post back in July 2005 and for the work he did in keeping track of info and data on the Hori RAP sticks at least up until the middle of the PS2 gen and some of the PS3/360 gen.
Below you’ll see the info he organized reworked in a new format with more info and photos.

Original thread (39 pages of topic from July 2005 to mostly April 2012)

Shoutouts to those who’ve helped provide information on this updated list that deserve credit for their contributions:

@hibachifinal @VirtualCosmic @Darksakul @NENDO @Digital-

If you have general arcade stick questions, please ask in the “Absolute Question and Answer Thread v.3 (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)” thread

If you desire information on other arcade sticks that are not listed here or want suggestions on what to buy, please visit the “What Stick/Controller Should I Buy? Read the Guide on Pg 1 Before Posting.” thread

There will be no tier list, and there will likely not be a “I SUGGEST YOU BUY ________ ARCADE STICK” info.

This is information for you to use to your advantage to make an independent decision based on what features you may or may not enjoy.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not come in to this thread and just ask “Which one should I buy?”.
Use knowledge below to grow, think, and learn.

=Is the PCB the same for both models of this body type?
=Is the PCB possible to multi-mod with? We know it’s common ground, but we don’t have if is active high/low.

Uncategorized or detailed yet

-All sticks with Hori’s 2nd main RAP base model (VX/V3/V4/V4Silent/KaiVariants/etc) for 360 and PS3 and XB1 (PS4/PS3 versions already listed)
-All XB1 sticks whether 2nd main RAP base model or 3rd (HRAP.V Hayabusa/whateverelse)
-Colors of all cases, buttons, and balltops listed on each stick

BELOW SPOILER TAG IS FOR INFORMATION THAT I HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO SORT THROUGH OR UTILIZE IN FINDING INFORMATION

[spoiler]Modding the sticks:

Original and CFJ:

  • Replacing the stock buttons w/Sanwa pushbuttons: Simply open up the HRAP, remove the quick disconnects off the Hori buttons, pop the buttons out, then put in the Sanwa pushbuttons, hook up the quick disconnects to those and booyaa, you got yourself a HRAP fully equipped with Sanwas. Recommended buttons for this switcheroo are Snap-ins due to the Metal Panel, but Screw-ins should work too.
  • Replacing the JLF with a LS-32:
    http://www.geocities.jp/u3q_yusaku/seimitsu.html

HRAP1 version 2:

  • Replacing the buttons is almost the same as the OG HRAP and CFJ HRAP, but the QDs are slightly harder to remove for some reason. So here is a diagram on how to remove them to avoid having sore hands (kudos to spoon for the diagram):

http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/8209/qd9xd.th.jpg

HRAP2:

HRAP3 and its variants, HRAP1B:

US Tekken 5 Hori Stick:

How can I put custom art on my HRAP?
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=107975&highlight=eggy

Where can I buy a HRAP?:

Can I still buy a Special Addition or Special Edition HRAP?

  • At this moment in time, your best bet would be either ebay or Yahoo Japan or any other auction site.

[/spoiler]

Hey, some info needs to be addressed, some HRAP’s are already TOP-LOADER bolts, which can be undone with a hex key easily.

  • any SE or SA HRAP
  • Both Arcana Heart sticks
  • i’ll get back to you on the rest

Also about Button connections, the following HRAP’s have PCB mounted buttons:

[details=Spoiler]- Both Arcana Heart

  • Fate/Unlimited codes
  • SoulCaliburIII
  • Street Fighter 4[/details]

here’s additions and pictures of missing sticks on the list. I’m also filling out the same descriptive table you have.

i have set in bold stuff I find are important differences

lastly,
There are TWO revisions of HRAP-EX, only as a side note, the Japanese version has a different button assigment, and uses Yamatake MS-Y-3 Microswitches, otherwise all are the same.

wow @hibachifinal you are an HRAP God.

I’ve put in most of what you provided and moved the “Hyper Stick Pro Otomedius Gorgeous Ver. (Konamistyle Limited Edition)” out of PS2 and to 360 via heads up from @NENDO

In the info for the original SA (ps2) it came with obsf-30rg buttons, not obsf-30 buttons ( I believe it is still the only retail stick to come with RG buttons, they were also in a custom vermillion color specially made for this stick. )

I though that the only Hrap that came with RG buttons was that limited edition “shmup” Hrap that comes with a LS-32 and Sanwa RG buttons?

The HORI REAL ARCADE PRO AX S+G

Shoryuken link -

[Edit]
No wait, your right.
I did some searching, the original Hrap 2 SA edition of the stick had Sanwa RG buttons.
http://www.hori.jp/products/ps2/controller/realarc_pro_s_fix/index.html

But hey we were missing the HORI REAL ARCADE PRO AX S+G from the list, so we got something out of it.

lol @Darksakul that stick never flew off shelves. it was canned.

should we included “never released/unique” HRAP’s as well? there were a couple…

I think they should be included, yes.

Why not? Frank wanted to make a complete listing as possible, he could just annotate that they were pulled from production.

Rarest HRAP ever.

Omfg. I want those Philips bolts!

Perhaps d3v will give Frank some keys to sdtechin so that site could be updated with all the information in this and other info threads?

Appreciate that link to more info @anzhar but it’s already listed on the bottom of the post in spoiler tags of stuff to sort through. Thanks anways.

-Added RAP3 Amazon.co.jp edition
-Added RAP3 SA
-Added RAP EX
-Added RAP EX SE
-Added new section for unreleased sticks

Still have a ton more info to go through and I know there’s some data listed that’s probably incorrect.}
Still have descriptions for 2 more sticks from old base era (SFIV and T6JP) to do
Still have all the newer HRAP bases to go PS3-PS4-360-XB1
Still have the VLXs that should be listed (still technically RAP sticks)
Still have to go hunt down PCB info on each one of these

blahblah. I’m getting there.

Shoutouts to @VirualCosmic @Darksakul and @hibachifinal for new info

Finally got around to changing. Thanks for input.

Added AX S+G to the new unreleased section. Will edit photo soon. Thanks.

Added both to the list. Thanks again.

Would like to add that for the HRAP EX-SE (Seimitsu Edition) The button wiring is with quick disconnects, but for the LS-32 joystick the wires are soldered to the microswitches. there is no harness, i know because I have one and have changed the joystick from the stock LS-32.

Some more info to add is that the obsf-24 dark hai buttons used in the hrap2 sa are specially made for that stick by Sanwa. Also maybe note that any Xbox 360 stick that uses the ex/ex-se pcb is non common ground.

-Redid photos for multiple sticks to 500x500 format
-Added info for XB360 PCBs as noted by @VirtualCosmic below
-Added info for HRAP2 SA 24mm OBSFs as noted by VirtualCosmic below
-Added Hori RAP V4 Hayabusa
-Added Hori RAP V4 Silent
-Added Hori RAP.V Hayabusa
-Added Hori RAP 4 Kai
-Added Hori DoA5LR
-Added Hori RAP 4 Premium VLX
-Added section to give shoutouts to those who helped provide info

Thanks again for your contribution. Edits are done.
I would assume the EX-SA PCB is the same as the EX and EX-SE. @hibachifinal had in his contributed areas for the Deathsmiles/DeathsmilesIIX, Mushihimesama Futari, and others that they all use the same EX and EX-SE PCB too, so they’re prob all the same there.

Eventually I’d like to get good photos of the insides of each stick up in this thread as well including PCBs. That could potentially help us develop a more precise confirmation which PCBs match each other for each model. Once again, that’s more research and time and anyone is welcome to help do some of the legwork.

Looking good so far. Still need RAP N3/NXs and A3/AXs.

Would you be so kind as to do a few of the descriptions for those and i’ll do the photo/resize/host?
