Hori Real Arcade Pro FAQ for all versions

Oh yhaa I’m aware of the common parts shared between the LS-32 and the LS-40. I didn’t get a chance to open up my V3 but I did browse around looking for info on how to properly mod it and I came across this page.

Tutorial : Hori Real Arcade Pro.V3 SA Mod | Studiosushi?

Looking at the pictures, I’m wondering where would I be able to mount the LS-40. Looks similar to a HRAP3. What are your thoughts?

It’s a shame the LS-32 has pivoting problems because if it didn’t I’d use the spare laying around in my box of parts.

just wondering, is the v3 SA easy to art mod? are there templates available somewhere in srk threads?

Hey, Tech-Talk.

Just wondering… Is there any PCBs out there for a PS3 HRAP 3-SA stick that can be used for dual-mod purposes? (Like the PS360, TEasy Strike, and Kitty)

Or do I need to do it the old fashioned way? (Xbox 360 pad + PS3 PCB)?

I have the template But don’t know how to send it

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I didn’t want to make a new thread…

I have an HRAP EX. The USB cord got fucked up so I figured the best way to fix this was to cut the cord to remove the bad section and splice and solder the two ends together. So I went out and bought a soldering iron and some wire strippers. Now I’m having second thoughts and was wondering if it would be better to just attach a new wire to the PCB.

Thing is I have 0 experience with soldering or doing any type of mods other than swapping out the stock buttons with Sanwa buttons, so I’m kind of afraid to mess with the PCB. Should I attempt this or would it be better to go with my original plan of just splicing the two ends of the wire together? Thanks.

could you send it to me by email?

Sure Pm me your email.

What I said here is technically right BUT you could still use a JLF extender for LS-40-01 in an HRAP 3 (vanilla, NO SA, NO SE) case.
You’d have to special-order the JLF extender from eTokki.com… Get the JLF extender that’s painted black has the extra thickness equivalent to a JLF shaft with JLF CD shaft cover.

(So yeah, in a nutshell I was wrong but at the same time nobody makes a purpose-built LS-40 extension. It was Laugh at eTokki that brought the JLF extension compatibility with the LS-40 shaft to my attention. He sells the extensions in the first place! LOL)

Here’s why it would probably work… LS-40 shaft covers can be used on JLF shaft IF they’re thinned out. There’s a tutorial video for that on Akihabarashop.jp’s website. (Don’t bother looking for shaft extenders on Aki’s site… they don’t sell them.)

By that reasoning, a JLF extension should match up with the LS-40(-01) shaft. It will at least thread on properly since the shaft all have the same threading on the top… If they didn’t, ball tops wouldn’t be cross-compatible between Sanwa and Seimitsu joystick shafts/levers.

We know that JLF-CD shaft covers fit on LS-32 shaft if they’re thinned out from the interior. Hence, a shaft covered LS-32 has the same diameter as a shaft-covered JLF.
By that same reasoning — thin out an LS-40 shaft cover for a JLF shaft, then a JLF with LS-40 cover should be roughly equivalent to a shaft-covered (JLF-CD) JLF and roughly equivalent to an LS-40 with an LS-40 shaft cover. Therefore, extension parts for a shaft-covered JLF should work on both a shaft-covered LS-32 and LS-40 with its Seimitsu shaft cover.

I’ll be able to confirm this 100% in the future whenever I have the cash to get an LS-40-01 and JLF (black) extension for it. I have plans to install an LS-40-01 in my white HRAP 3…

I’m trying to put an LS-56-01 in my HRAP1 Amazon.jp edition. I need four screws to mount it, but I don’t know what size the screws need to be. Does anyone happen to know this?

I just got a HRAP VX-SA for my xbox and was wondering if anyone could direct me to where I could buy a octagonal restrictor plate, and also to instructions on how to change them out

I don’t think this guide mentions anything about the HRAP EX-SE (Special Edition) for the 360. I notice that it does have areas for the Special Edition and the EX, but these are both different from the EX-SE. The SE in the guide has a different color scheme, and the EX features some generic arcade parts. As it stands, I believe the EX-SE is the only widely available full Seimitsu stick for the Xbox 360. This is it: http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/arcade-sticks/hori-real-arcade-pro-ex-se-360/

I wanted to come here as it seems that it would be a good place to ask how to go about installing a JLW into the EX-SE. The MS plate is necessary for an install of an LS-56 into the EX-SE, but this MS plate differs greatly from the JLW plate. How could I go about doing this?

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s - Well I see this guide is very old, it sucks that users cannot update thread titles. I also wish the search engine on this site was more robust. It seems like a huge failure to be unable to search for terms like “ls-56”, “jlf”, “jlw” “ls-32” etc, as the terms are all too short. Arcade stick parts are a huge part of our community and it would be nice to be able to properly search for them.

Yeah the search function can be sort of a disappointment when 90% of what your looking for gets omitted .

While your figuring out how to install that JLW, might I suggest trying just the JLW spring in your LS-32? That’s what I use on mine with a round gate and an aluminum bat top. It pretty much rocks!

Anyway, good luck.

Thank you for your suggestion, I have considered this too. However my main issue is the lack of grippable surface area, while the JLW-UM uses a larger body with a large bat top or 40-45mm Ball top design. I have large hands and feel like I can hardly grip the LS-32. The LS-56 is a direct install, so I will have to go with that if I can’t go with the JLW.

Thank you for that man, now see if we could properly search, I could have found it at some point maybe. I think something really needs to be done about the search engine restrictions.

Where can I find template for HRAP V3 SA in full size? The link in the first post doesn’t work(

I don’t think there was even a link in the First Post.

Since blklightning21 makes Custom Panel and Covers for HRAP V3/VX, he has Template.
Go to his Lightning Label Customs Thread to find link to his website.

Does anyone know if a HRAP V3 SA will work with a Mac?
