I bought a Hori HRAP Ex a while ago, and the joystick itself feels different from the TE stick. To me it doesnt seem as accurate. I was wondering if they used the same type of stick, if not wat is the difference between the sticks? Would modifying the HRAP-Ex stick be difficult, and is there a guide available?
HRAP EX uses the same stick (Sanwa JLF) as the TE.
I already said i was planing to buy hrap3 sa soon, but i want to know if replacing a hrap 3 with 6 sanwas is easy. Do i need any special tools to hopen the hrap3? All i want to do is open the stick and replace the 6 horis with sanwa and close it back up. Is it difficult?
Of course you know that the HRAP3 SA already has sanwa buttons right? I’m assuming you’re wondering about getting a standard HRAP3 to put sanwa buttons in - yes it’s very easy and all you need is normal screwdrivers.
If you want to see the whole process check out h2LGKO03zDI&feature=related"]these videos by DSP. If you’re not going to change the art then you can probably skip to .
yea, if i can find a hrap3 for cheap and buy 6 buttons for about $15-20 it might be cheaper. No need for the other 2 buttons and start/select… also in the video i saw him use something that is not a screwdriver to remove bolts inside the case, is that tool needed or is it just more helpful?
Ah you’re right! You’re also going to need a 7mm socket wrench! Oops I totally forgot about that If you need to buy one to do this then don’t forget that you’ll need one that fits on the end of a straight handle so that you can get to the nuts inside. I have a screwdriver set thingy with one handle and lots of attachments at the end which is what I used for mine.
this may be a stupid question, should i tape down the wires like HORI did themselves or should i not?
I don’t think it matters. i didn’t bother with mine and I’ve never had any problems.
That’s what I did, got a HRAP3 and modded it with Seimitsu buttons and plexi. It does take a bit of work to open since you do need a 7mm socket wrench/bolt screwdriver. Also, have to be careful with taking out the QDs from the Hori buttons as you can break them if your not careful. Personally, first thing I did was to remove the tape and then separate the wires for the JLF before wrapping the remaining wires up in tape and wire ties.
Question about taking off the film on the HRAP.
On those videos they said you have to take off the film or else your artwork will not work right with the plexi glass. What would exactly be the problem if you left the film on the metal and placed artwork and plexiglass on it?
Thanks
I just got a HRAP 3 SA a few days ago & I feel the same way. It’s either there isn’t as much room on the top panel (compared to a TE stick) or the angle for my wrists like you said.
What options have people used for adding meatier rubber feet to these sticks. I find it moves around to much on my lap depending on what pants I am or may not be wearing.
I saw this, but i dont think its worth it.

It sounds like you play without your pants on…sometimes?
I found some 1" rubber Gripping furniture feet, but the HRAP screws are too short. I’ll have to find longer screws of the same size or something. Also I’m not even sure these feet will work, they are a hard rubber, almost plasticy.
I don’t know if this belongs here but I need some help.
I have a HRAP3 that I’ve owned since Feb 09’. I tried using my stick about an hour ago and the stick is not registering any directions. The button register fine but not the stick. I opened it up, checked the wires: look good, unplugged the stick for it’s circuit board, unplugged the USB from the circuit board, and did the obvious and unplugged the joystick from the system. Is there any kind of fix that I haven’t tried yet or do I have to throw down $24 for Seimitsu LS-56-01?
Is there a switch to toggle from D-pad , Right/Left stick?
I also have a HRAP EX and the stick in my friends HRAP 3 (tekken 6 edit.) feels a bit more loose than mine ??
Might be slight manufacturing differences with Sanwa. The T6 is newer so might be that later batches of JLFs have a slightly looser spring.
