Do they make a drop in replacement PCB for the xbox model stick? I can only seem to find the one for the PS3…
So Down and Back works, but Down-back doesn’t?
That is pretty weird.
Would you think that when the Arcade Stick got dropped that it caused to somehow misalign the seating place of Microswitch?
Did you mean that Down-back works okay outside of Joystick, or just Down and Back?
What happen when you manually press the two Microswitches to do a Down-back?
Would that register?
If Down-back doesn’t work outside of Joystick, then I would have to say that PCB damaged.
down and back work independently, i haven’t tested them together.
I will do that tonight.
I don’t know for sure, but since the sticks are designed to be 4 way or 8 way, isn’t it possible it was just set to 4 way when it was dropped? I’ve never messed with that since I’ve never built a Pac-Man stick lol.
thats possible, did i put the restrictor plate on wrong? I’m using my old square gate. The last time i replaced the restrictor plate, i dont recall the micro buttons moving on me… this time, they seem to want to move all over the place…
one thing to mention, when i dropped the stick, i broke my octagonal restrictor plate…
There is only one way the Restrictir Gate goes on.
So you did not put wrong.
Now if the Restrictor Gate was set to 4-Way, then you would have only been able to move Joystick UP, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT.
You would not be able to push the corners.
bri9and, so the Microswitches are just not seated properly is all?
How would i even configure the joystick for 4 way operation? Could it perhaps have been knocked into that mode when i dropped it?
Dropping cannot cause the Restrictor Gate to turn into 4-Way.
It takes a lot of work.
And done by hand.
What I’m debating doing at this point is replacing the entire stick and the buttons while I’m at it… Would this stick work?
If it ends up being the board, would the Toodles Cthulhu board work?
Nope, Cthulhu is for PS3. Can’t replace a HRAP EX pcb with it if you want to use your joystick on a Xbox 360.
thanks for the very informative thread !
I really just want to drop in a replacement joystick and need to know which one would be the best… any ideas?
Got a HRAP3 a few months ago, and I peeled off the laminated layer over the surface a while ago. I recently noticed that the Hori buttons wiggle around a bit (which I will replace with Sanwas when I can be arsed), but I noticed that underneath the buttons the art on the surface of the HRAP3 is faded and white.
Now, I’m wondering three things as to remove these visible fades around the button holes:
- Are Sanwa buttons more firm inside the HRAP3, so that it can’t jiggle around and reveal the faded area underneath?
- Are the Sanwa buttons slightly bigger, perhaps, to cover it up?
- Are there any stickers or things that I can buy to cover up the faded area around the button holes?
Thanks fellas.
I recently bought a HRAP3 from someone on the boards… and i was wondering… i’d like to mod it to use it w/ 360, but will i be able to use the control pannel buttons if i do that (home, L/R3)?
or will i probably have to add buttons?
Hey guys,
Thought I’d show case pictures of my two HRAP3 sticks.
I originally had an all white Sanwa stick with white OBSF-30 and 24. But it looked too much like stock so I sold the buttons and bought Dark Hai/Yellow from laugh.
Top: Sanwa Dark Hai x 8, Yellow x 2, GT-Y Octo Gate, Seimitsu Black Meshball
Bottom: Seimitsu Clear PS-14-K-N x 8, PS-14-D-N White x 2, GT-Y Octo Gate, Seimitsu White Meshball
Seimitsu Setup
Meshball White
Sanwa Setup
Meshball Black
Does the red/white ps2 stick work with PS3 AND on the computer via adapter?
HRAP 2:
- Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK
- Hori Buttons
- Uses quickdisconnects
- Turbo switches
- No mirror top
- White/Red color scheme
- Button layout is Sanwa panel / Seimitsu 1P side panel layout
- Button placement:
[] /\ R1 L1
X O R2 L2 - Pic: http://www.hori.jp/products/ps2/cont...age/image2.jpg
- Apparently when modding the HRAP2’s buttons, it is recommended to use snap-ins as opposed to screw-ins as there is not enough space due to the mounting area of the new layout.
Ah damn, was about to order the HRAP3 from arcadeshock, sadly have to wait for my pay to come in, in around a week or so. That shouldn’t be too late to secure it at $99US…right? Hope so lol
Especially since the shipping tops at around $65US for me to get it shipped to AUS. Premium $ that’s for sure, but well worth it i reckon, just hoping to get it for the initial $99 from arcadeshock. Which would come to around $200AUD which is nice, especially since my other options are around $280-300+AUD O.O.
Re: 1. Are Sanwa buttons more firm inside the HRAP3? Yes.
Good price at US $99 MSRP.
That’s not inflated, and yes the shipping is a bit steep.
FYI, I paid about CAD $90 to ship each of my HRAP3 sticks from Nagoya, Japan to Vancouver, Canada.
I don’t think Arcadeshock is marking up anything on the postage for the HRAP3.
