Hori Real Arcade Pro FAQ for all versions

Can anyone tell me what the default surface of the HRAP1 Version B looks like? It looks plain grey from the pics but i read elsewhere that it was the same kind of surface as a standard HRAP 2?

It’s a similar surface to the HRAP 2, although I think it’s a different color?

The last time I encountered it I just remembered it not smudging at all, and that was my only real concern.

I am currently thinking about Modding an HRAP.

Can I just replace the standard buttons on my HRAP with 8 x Seimitsu PS-14-P (http://www.akihabarashop.com/catalog/seimitsu-PS14P.jpg) without any trouble, or is it much more complicated?

Can you guys confirm if this info is correct:
-HRAP1 works on PS2, and with adapter cables also on Xbox and Xbox 360
-HRAP1 works on PS3 when playing PSX and PS2 games (using a PS=>USB adapter) but does not work on PS3 games due to not having a “home” button.

And some questions:
-Where can I buy this: http://www.xcm.cc/xcm_xfps_360.htm ?
-Are there any alternatives?
-Are there any problems using HRAP1 on X360 due to it’s lack of buttons?
-Can HRAP3 be used for any other consoles besides PS3?
-Are there any plans for any company to release an adapter that lets you use HRAP1 for PS3 games?

Thanks for your help =]

I added a few answers into your post.

That’s a HFS2 is it not?

If you are still alive, you should make a thread about yer mod… Or link to an existing, cuz I’ve been looking for prob a month now. And I know others have as well.

I have one o’ thems, and I’d like to mod it.

More pics plz!

whats the best way to remove a quick disconnect? I’m installing sanwas and am noob at at this. Is there any tool to use?

This looks like the Hori that I have. Sorry for sounding like a newbie but what exactly do you mean by LS-32? Also would you recommend screw-in sanwa buttons for this particular version?

To mod the HRAP is a bolt remover required? or can i get by w/ a screwdriver

a 1/2" bitdriver is very helpful, but I’ve gotten away with just a pair of needle nose pliers a few times. You need a screwdriver for the very bottom piece, but it won’t help for getting the top control panel piece off.

kool thnx

The LS-32 is the seimitsu flagship stick… some people prefer it over the sanwa JLFs… actually i do have a question too. i too have a hrap 1B unfortunately… when u guys say impossible… issit really impossible? or just requires heavy modding? I might wanna put a seimitsu there sometime… thanks!

Finally my Regular HRAP arrived and I am currently trying to adjust to using it.
I got some questions though:

  • Is the green balltop screwed on?
  • My stick is saying some optic noise, is this normal or does it need some grease?

Thanks in advance

anyone know anything about the doa4 stick?

What do you want to know? I’ve got one sitting around here at home.

can anyone give me a hand repacking my HRAP?

I am planning to sell it, and have all the original packaging but ill be dammed if i can work out how it is all supposed to fit together!

contents of packaging:

  • 1 large box
  • Two large “egg crate” pieces of cardboard (i think they go down the sides of the box)
  • Two pieces of black foam (one square, one rectangular)
  • One flat piece of cardboard with a hole in it
  • One HRAP

you see why i play Street Fighter and not Tetris!

/edit: figured it out. Anyone in the UK interested in a Hori Real Arcade Pro modded with full Sanwa buttons?

I’ve been using it for mame for the past four months - doesn’t seem to have worn too much and I haven’t had any problems with execution. Was plug and play on my computer.

I am currently thinking about Modding my Regular HRAP with Sanwa OBSF-30RG, but I don’t know if they will fit?

Iron Z, what is the condition of the controller? I’m kinda interested, I’ve got one coming from playasia, another one could be useful. And throw me a quote.
