Hori Real Arcade Pro FAQ for all versions

In that case is buying PS-14-K’s to replace the stock Hori’s even worth it? I was planning on doing that but this kinda has me stopped in my tracks.

Probably not worth it for performance, but they do look good! Could always replace the switches with Sanwa’s like I did.

I got my HRAP3 today. 2 days earlier than expected. Mine works fine on the pc with MAME. i was playin all my games fine with it. I used the ps3 sixaxis drivers and it worked no problem. Computer even recognized it as a Hori Real Arcade Pro as soon as I plugged it in. If somebody could tell me how to upload a few screens i’ll do that.

Damn, thing is I like that little bit of resistance from the Seimitsus(grew up playing on Happ but like Seimitsu buttons better) and not the breath-on-them-and-they’re-pressed sensitivity from Sanwas.

The fuck?! What the hell is wrong with my computers? At least this is good news sorta. Gotta go back and try this again.

Smexy, any import shops gonna have this in stock?

Ok, guess I was wrong. Once you plug in the HRAP 3 (after installing the SIXAXIS drivers of course) holding down the home button makes the stick recognized by windows. I might be wrong but I don’t think the drivers may even be necessary.

Hey guys–I have a US Tekken 5 Hori stick. I want to use it on my Saturn and Dreamcast. I just had a couple questions:

  1. Generally, with controller converters, is there almost zero lag when playing? Obviously, for fighting games and shooters you need a quick, responsive controller when playing. I saw there was a Dreamcast converter that supposedly has no lag, I’ll probably buy that. So can anyone confirm there is no lag on the Dreamcast converters?

Have any of you tried any Saturn converters?

Let’s assume the worse and those 3rd party ps2>usb adapters that will come out in a few weeks STILL doesn’t work older, non-ps3 sticks. Is it possible to mod an analog button into a Hori RAP2 so that it will work with the sony ps2>usb addapters?

Or does the RAP’s board like… not even have an analog point to solder a button onto? (then is it possible to hackjob an extra ps2 pad into the wiring?) I’m a bit sad because I have a perfectly fine sanwa modded RAP2, but there’s no way I can play with it right now on the upcoming VF5 and T5:DR, nor play 3s or ST unless I bring out my old, worn down, DRE-filled ps2. =(

…whereabouts do you get PS to DC converters anyhow?

  • I use my T5 HORI with Winkawaks/MAME and there is no lag. No lag. None. Pretty hard to play SF with a square gate though. Scrub needs a practice.

…that went well.

Click on Sega then Dreamcast. It’s the Dream Connection II converter.

the diagram is for if you have a hrap1 ver. B with the gray top. the photo looks like it has a seimitsu stick mounted so i would say its the original hrap1.

Yes you can mod a stick with a dualshock or any other PCB that has the analog button. It works fine with all the PS to USB converters that I have.

Ah, I see. Thanks! I’ll see if there’s a way too hook up the button for the rap2, if not, i’ll just replace the pcb entirely with a dual shock one.

I second this, a friend of mine has two of these and they’re perfect.

Thanks, but here is the bad news…they’re all sold out. I emailed the head guy and he stated this.

…that went well.

That is FANTASTIC NEWS DA! Now if you could try it without loading the SIXAXIS drivers and tell me if it works I’d appreciate it

Guys, I am going to mod my HRAP3. What I am going to do is to remove all of the buttons except for 3. I assume the buttons have teeth that go into holes in the PCB? So all I need to do is remove the buttons and the stick and remaining 3 buttons will work fine? I plan on putting plugs in the empty holes.

I want to do this because I only play VF and its a 3 button game.

Thanks for your help.

Question for HRAP 2:

Does anyone know how to replace the wires connecting to the buttons? I bent one of the wires too many times while attempting to mod, and so it started to shread apart. I cut the wire and used a wire connector to twist them together. It works great now, but I may want to replace it later down the line.

requesting some pictures for upgrading US t5 arcade stick. All the pictures on himura amusements were posted on geocities and are now gone, the thread is over a year old so I thought I would have better luck posting here.

You can remove the buttons and put in plugs into the gaping holes. There are two wires with quick disconnects going to each button. For the ones you remove, either leave the QD on and wrap them individually in electrical tape, or cut the wire right were the disconnect ends (so the QD is gone, but the wire is as long as possible) and then wrap the bundle of wires in a small amount of electrical tape.

You want, no matter what, for none of the wires to touch the other wires, but leaving them long also means you can change your mind down the road and put new QD’s on and put the buttons back.
