Hori Real Arcade Pro FAQ for all versions

What did you do for the artwork? Is it vinyl? Print-out?

That’s the CFJ HRAP. The artwork is there by default.

Is there any place I can buy a HRAP v1 anymore?

you might wanna hit up japanvideogames.com they might have some

Hey guys i was wondering if anybody knew where they are selling Xbox Magic Box adapters. Everywhere I’ve seen it’s sold out. I bought the Dragon Box and I saw lag in normal play. Thanks ahead of time

hello maybe someone who did some moding on his hrap could tell me what to do with the cables that i’m not using beacuse i dont need L1 L2 so the cables are lying inside the ‘box’ but whenever i’m leaving them like that they getting pressed/short circuit occurs. how can i get rid of that

modding the HRAP

i just recently purchased the HRAP and i have found that the joystick is too sensitive for me. the 3rd strike arcade i play on has the baseball style top and is very firm. i believe the arcande is an american cabinet, but i’m not entirely sure. i was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to the replace the stock Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK with a joystick that is firm (like the 3s american cabinets) on the HRAP? if anyone can tell me the type of joystick 3s american cabinets have it would help me out a lot. thanks.

also the piece on the bottom of the Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK is rectangular and not circular (which im used too), any information on this would help as well.

Mods have been done to modify the top panel of the HRAP to add in a Happ Competition (uh the US stick you’re referring to). But it is not the easiest of mods, I think poon here on these boards is the guy who has done it. Well not with the HRAP but with the Tekken 5 Hori which essentially has the same body as a HRAP.

If you can’t get used to your HRAP, you’re better off selling it or trading it for a Happ stick rather than going through the work in trying to put a Happ stick in there.

happ stick

well, i guess i’ll look into purchasing a good happ stick. but i guess this raises more questions lol. first of all, we just got new 3s machines at the local arcade, and they are japanese cabinets but the sticks are battop. the ones on the new japanese cabinets are VERY stiff compared to the american cabinet i was playing on before. you said that the american battop was the happ competition? could these new (stiffer) ones be the Ultimate Happ with a Hard spring? or just another version of the happ competition with a hard spring?

what is a good happ stick to purchase? i looked into the Street fighter anniversary happ stick … but i have heard mixed reviews about it.

this also caught my eye http://www.massystems.com/ProStick.html
would you suggest these?

basically, i’m looking for a (stiff) happ stick setup that i can order online. links would be great.

thanks again guys.

Well IIRC the mod I was talking about had a Competition on it (but I maybe wrong), anyway the Comp if I remember right has a square restrictor like Japanese sticks so it’s not that you’re used to. The other alternatives from Happ are the Super, Ultimate or P360 which I’m sure are all round.

If the SFAE Happ version is still around you should pick that up, or get a SFAE stick and mod it with Happ parts. There’s a tutorial in this forum for that, just use the search function for it.

MAS sticks are hit or miss, some people hate them and others swear by them, the best suggestion is just get a custom stick, but if it’s out of your price range then go for a MAS or SFAE Happ stick.

hrapv2 is easy as fuck mod… just a little harder than v1 coz the connectors are on kinda tight.

stick is an easy mod too… but with that sanwa i dont see it going bad for atleast 16 months, and thats if you hellla play.

but yea… theres no soldering with the hraps. everything is snap in.

as far as the HRAP v1 is concerned, straight outta box id give it an 8…

hori buttons are asshole… get those replaced with sanwas immediately.

i have a v2 modded with all sanwas and an octagon restrictor gate… works great.

How can I put custom art on my HRAP?

Damn the thread must have been removed, can’t find it.

What to do what to do
Anyone that could help me out ? Going to change the artwork on my now modded T5 HRAP.

Just bumping this up so it doesn’t get deleted or anything. =)

Anyone have the SCIII HRAP?
Are the Hori buttons on those better than the JP T5 stick?

Thanks

^ Not that I know of, most people just have HRAP1, HRAP1B, CFJRAP or the HRAP2.
But it’s safe to say that the SC3 HRAP has the same buttons as the T5 HRAP, Hori uses the same type of buttons for the most part on their products.

I updated the first post with the HRAP3 info and I fixed some information up as well.

You’re probably right. It does feel pretty sweet for stock hori buttons though. Miles ahead of some of my other joysticks.

I am sort of new to the world of home arcade sticks but not the arcade, don’t get me wrong though. I wanted to know the difference between the button types of the Hori sticks? The type of buttons that I like are the flat ones, I don’t know if anyone has the DC arcade stick, but I like that type of button. I like the JP stlye arcade if that helps any. And also what do you guys think is the best in quality or serious tournament play? Thanks!

what’s better to mod my hrap2 with snap in or screw in Seimetsu buttons

The best in quality or serious play is using actual arcade parts (be it Sanwa/Seimitsu/Happ/Crown/Sticknara whatever/etc.).

But if you are talking about standard default consumer parts, then the HRAP’s buttons would be up there since apparently they are the highest level quality of stock buttons.

Because of the metal plate, snap-in, but you could use screw-ins also, it’s up to you there’s no difference between the two except for the locking mechanism.

Can you tell me exact measurements of the HRAP? And is there any difference in size between HRAP and HRAP 2?
