Hori Real Arcade Pro FAQ for all versions

haha, I know the feeling. at first I was scared if I’d end up damaging the prongs, but after getting QDs off the first button, the rest of it was a breeze, gl

oh, and if you’re finding that you’re needing to take the top plate off alot later on, you might wanna get something that i call a ‘bolt driver’. I really have no idea what its actual name is, but it kinda looks like a screwdriver except the tip of it allows you to turn bolts instead of screws. Usually it comes with changeable heads so you can pick a shape to fit the bolts you’re unscrewing. Either that or just cut out the base of that plastic “basin”

Followed the instructions… managed to get off the first QD within moments. Guess I wasn’t prying properly, haha. Stick was then modified to Sanwa buttons and used for a few hours when a couple friends dropped by, good stuff.

As for the ‘bolt driver’ … hm, I have a socket wrench that works for that, but that thing in a screwdriver-form would work way better (actually, the socket wrench doesn’t work at all - I have to use my fingers alone to screw/unscrew that part). I’ll look into it though!

instead of dremeling the PCB on the US T5 stick. Has anyone used wires to connect the buttons? I dont wanna risk screwing up my PCB =\

it should work, but then you’d need to find another area to put the PCB in.

why would you cut the plastic part? that takes away from the weight of the stick. I modded my HRAP1 and I had to open the bottom and remove the nuts to get inside the top plate, that’s a normal procedure for it.

he wants to do it because he’s gonna mess around with the parts a lot.

Barely. I don’t think a small sheet of ABS plastic is gonna make much of a weight difference, especially if the HRAP is mainly weighted down by two steel plates. I read somewhere that the only reason the plastic part is there for is to insulate sound :L
Like leavael said, I just wanna experiment with stuff alot and its a pain having to have to keep reinstalling that top plate, when all I need is a good 10 minutes to cut and smooth out that peice of plastic - then I don’t need to worry about the top plate again : )

Either way, I’m gonna dremel off that peice of plastic eventually. If I can find the right materials I’ll probally try making some custom sized gates too. Although the official octagonal gate is nice, it could do with being abit smaller

Since there arent many pics of the version 2 hrap1, here are some of mine

just needs some sanwa buttons

Beware - those QDs are more vicious than they seem!

(Deeply bruised my finger trying to manually pull one off - 2 days later and it’s still throbbing occasionally)

Updated the first post with new info.

Anyone know where to get the xbox dragonbox converter? I checked the major outlets (lik-sang etc.) and even did a google for dragonbox with no luck.

Your Namco stick looks lonely and unloved sitting on the floor…

Anybody know if it’s possible to put Happ buttons in a HRAP?

Asking the same question, dont have paypal account yet… those buttons fit or not http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/601200xx.htm ? and is it worth it or the hori buttons are betteR?

@ruffles - it’s really a matter of what you like, personally I really like the feel of american buttons, but I like the feel of the japanese sticks better. The hori buttons really aren’t that good IMO, so if you are going to go japanese go sanwa. But hey some people don’t mind hori buttons.

can I install the bat shaft from himuragames on Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK ?? talking abou this here http://www.himuragames.com/images/battops_06.jpg

Yes you can.

where can I get one of these in the US ?? http://image.lik-sang.com/images//large/hori-real-arcade-pro1.jpg

I would order one from lik sang but they want $65 shipping
can always build one but I need to try it out first and see if I can play on this.

Check out the first post of this thread, there are links to places where you can buy HRAPs.

where did y’all buy your hrap1 v.2’s and how much you pay? maybe i’m mistaken, but the pics on play-asia and lik sang look like hrap 1 v.1’s still.
