this stick looks awesome, i can’t wait for the unlicensed version of it…
In a market where it seems like stick makers are trying to be more & more elaborate with their cases, this simple, slick “boxy” design is refreshing.
Though it does look huge. Like i could rest my whole left forarm on the side area.
I believe the true reason is sure the sudden popularity of the namco noir cabs, and obviously the games that are played on them
Thanks for this, i wasn’t aware of the game. I like it just because of the playable Zeta Gundam. Not liking the stick design though.
Agreed. Actually, any of the mechs from Gundam Wing would work for me. Man, if it were white and has Tallgeese on it? Sheeeeeeiiiiiii…
Gundam arcade stick? Im down.
Added to the What stick to buy database.
Minus the art it looks alot like the Hori Soul Cal V stick.
Pretty sure the only difference is the art & button colours.
The Gundam stick is using the same joystick case as the Soul Calibur V joystick… Only differences are what gahrling pointed out.
The Soul Calibur V joystick was announced first but the Gundam joystick is getting released a month earlier.
Premium import for this will probably be at least $80-$110 on top of the regular retail price. Remember, on top of shipping fees you’re paying for someone else to buy it for you in-country (Japan)!
Going by today’s exchange rate, the Japanese retail price for this joystick is $190! Remember, though, that you’re paying an additional $80 minimum to get that joystick unless you have a buddy in Japan. Even then, I don’t think it’s worth $190. Blame the economy and the stupid politicians for sinking it and devaluing our dollar with stupid policies…!
I’ll pass and wait for the Soul Calibur V joystick release in the US. I have a budget I have to stick to!
The Gundam stick isn’t getting released a month earlier? The SCV stick is being released in Jan.
That what I assume, but I make an entry for now any ways. I can always consolidate the 2 later on if necessary.
Double-checked…
Release date is in March 2012! (At least that’s what I gather. I don’t read kanji.)
Don’t know where I got the December date, either. Maybe I confused the pre-order date with the release date!
Looks like this is the new Hori style case. I wonder what’s going on with the HRAP V3 again. Are they going to alternate stick case releases like I suspect Mad Catz will with the TE and Fight Stick Pro cases?
i like the stick design! … but i only have 360 … this looks PS3 only
It’s PS3-only. The game it was released with in conjunction was also a PS3 exclusive.
damn, why didnt I know bout this stick earlier…would have bought it without hesitation if it was readily available.
Sure, you can find it on the auction sites… for a price!
It was never gonna be a cheap thing if you have to import it for sure…
Yeah the price is a limiting factor…I think it will cost an estimate USD 290 to ship it over + commission for the third party services. With that money, I could have bought at least 2 new sticks.
To be honest,
I would just buy one of the Soul Calibur V joysticks (same case), remove the original art, and prep new art in Photoshop or GIMP to put on the faceplate.
It’s the same procedure people use for the TE joysticks… Different from the old HRAP SA’s where the original carbon fiber was thin enough to lay new art on top of it. You might be able to do that with the SC V art, too, but if you’re going to put a plexi on top of art – like I plan to with the original SC V art at any rate --, you’d best remove the Hori artwork first or things might get too thick quick.
To be honest, I wasn’t crazy about the mech on the Gundam stick, either. Give me the RX-78 Unit 1 or 3 from Gundam 0083, the Tallgeese III or Wing Zero from Gundam Wing, then I would have been happy!
The real killer besides the blue color was the price of getting that Gundam stick… It was a webstore exclusive which means it automatically becomes $80 more for a foreigner unless you have a Japanese friend or source to buy the joystick from!
give that its more like the SCV stick with different art, im actually more interested in the actual game itself…
I hear ya there!
I just wish the Gundam Extreme Vs. game weren’t so damn expensive!
(The whole import scene is on its head again… There haven’t been prices like this since the Super Famicon days. $85-$100 wasn’t unusual for a lot of the later cartridges.)
I don’t think it will come to the US… Gundam’s dead over here except for the Dynasty Warriors games.
Vs. should be fairly easy to pick up and play. I’m sure there are guides for the levels and that it’s not much different than the earlier Vs. games.
I played through Federation Vs. Zeon on the PS2 and enjoyed it. I’ve barely touched Gundam Vs Z-Gundam but it’s something I’ve meant to get back to.
I kind of wish I had imported one of the Japanese exclusive PS2 Vs. games but never got around to it…
