Hori Hayabusa unboxing + mods!

I tried to like it but the diagonals suck. Hori needs to revise it and fix some of the issues with it.

You are the first person who I ever heard to say this.

Maybe it fairs better with newer games.

So I have two Hori Hayabusa’s lying around. I bought a silent optical one and got the other from the hori edge.

There’s only one problem though, compared to the Sanwa jlf and especially the Seimitsu ls-56, the throw is wayy too long on both the Hori Hayabusa.

Rather than selling it or using electrical tape around the actuator for a ghetto mod, which actuator should I replace it with to make it similar to the Sanwa JLF? How about the Seimitsu LS-56?

My hayabusa, even after 2+ years, still gives me trouble hitting diagonals (not a problem for ub and uf, only db and df). if I don’t ride the gate, the diagonal won’t register. So freaking annoying, I’m gonna have to get in there and see if I can do something about it. Nothing like missing instant air legs and shit like that because diagonals won’t activate.

Not sure I’ve bought another peripheral I have so many grievances with as the freaking Fighting Edge. It’s probably called that because its owners will be fighting the urge to repeatedly slam the stick against a sharp edge. First the spring was way too tight so the lever would bounce over to the other side when doing qcf inputs quickly, the touch panel design is immensely suboptimal (why is CNF the closest button to my hands? Why so much unused space?), and now this. The only good thing about this stick is the case as far as I’m concerned.

You can always swap the joystick out for a different model joystick.

Yeah…I would have preferred not to spend more money on this stupid stick, but it beats using my old HRAP EX, too claustrophobic.

Only now do I realise that this is a Hayabusa specific thread, not a FE one (came here via google), sorry for my offtopic rant.

As for the diagonal problem, I went in there and the microswitches seem to be in position, but the left one definitely has more give than it should. Just gonna replace the whole stick, JLF serves me well.

I didn’t know people were so hype for hayabusa sticks three years ago.

I have two of them just sitting in a box. I took a hayabusa out my VLX and put a Silent JLF in it with a 2LB tension.

Are the hayabusa’s good quality? It’s just that my first stick had a JLF so I took out the hayabusa and put a JLF in instead because that’s what I was used to. My HRAP4 also had a hayabusa that I removed for a JLF.

Hayabusa is basically a JLF. Same mods on both but Hayabusa requires stuff like cutting plastic to use different micros. Throw in that 2 lb spring and then try it out.

This is execution error. Hayabusa has slightly more range so hitting diagonals is easier. Perhaps the spring is lighter so maybe you’re not putting enough force on it during downward motions.
