Hori Hayabusa Buttons

Ahh that sucks well i hope when they do sell them they give us some more color variety than just black like they did with kuro buttons

Hayabusa = Falcon in Japanese I believe.

I am unable to find anything on line that would confirm that belief.
Is there any speakers of Japanese that can confirm or denied this?

I don’t speak Japanese, but…

Hayabusa (隼?) is Japanese for “peregrine falcon”,

I just know Ryu Hayabusa’s name literally means dragon falcon.

Yeah, Hayabusa means falcon in Japanese. No, it’s not an official name. I’m pretty much sure people are only calling them falcons to avoid confusion with the lever.

Edit: Funny enough, Hibachi’s search results are all in Chinese, because Google can’t tell the difference if you write only some chinese characters (kanji)

Thank you I know about Google, next time try being productive instead of being a clod.

I Started studing japanese for a couple months now, yes hayabusa roughly translates to peregrine falcon

Anyone have experience swapping out microswitches on these buttons?

I was thinking of getting a set of Seimitsu PS-14-D switches (I think PS-14-G switches are too big?) for these buttons. I’d prefer a higher actuation force, but I like the feel of the buttons themselves.

I only have the kuros on hand but I believe the kuro uses the same switch. The seimitsu switch is much bigger than the switch in the hori buttons so it wont fit. You can probably file the plastic and try to fit it in but that only introduces a who new set of problems like trying to get the plunger seated correctly and the getting the correct height for the plunger. It will be a much bigger pain than its worth. If you do change the switch the feel of the buttons will change too so you may or may not like them afterwards.

The set I ordered from Japan has arrived. Outwardly, the switch appears to be identical to the Kuro and will fit just fine in a Sanwa OBSF button. I only have Seimitsu’s with PS-14-G switches and they are way too big to fit in the Hayabusa / Kuro / OBSF. Like @Alerhan said, you could shave it down or widen the button, but you would have to do so on all 4 sides and it could lead to problems. The new button feels much more solid than a Kuro and the shortened travel is very noticable. It also makes a less pronounced snap than the Kuro, probably due to the different plastic used for the plunger and rim. IMO, these are better than the Kuro in every way. Let’s see if they can stand the test of time.

I probably won’t be throwing these into a stick just yet, but I do have the new VLX ordered so I will try them out then. I’ve got a SandTex black Panzer ordered too, they might go very well with that case / finish.

EDIT: Focus Attack silencer pads will work with the buttons, however, the tabs have to be placed above the snap-ins, rather than where the plunger “hooks” sit.

Where did you order the buttons from? I wasn’t even aware the Hayabusa buttons were sold separately!

Lots of people in Japan are selling them after a button swap. People are probably getting them second hand.

They aren’t. Someone pulled the set from a HRAPV and listed them on Yahoo Auctions JPN for a really good price.

That tells me the buttons aren’t that good

Definitely a good indication.

I went ahead and put them in a stick with the silencer pads. They felt good.

Since it seems like the switch itself is the same and there were quality issues with it before, there will be quality issues with it again.

Hori should just copy the OBSF’s and be done with it if they don’t want to pay other companies, instead of trying their own thing with the Kuros and now these…

People are generally too used with their Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons, convince them to change their favorite setup isn’t that simple, especially if those buttons doesn’t give something new. No reason to copy-paste Sanwa and Seimitsu masterpieces, Hori can only hope players becomes used to them after get their sticks, but if you believe me they already fuck themselves with the Kuros bad rep. I’m sticking with my PS-14-GNC,but I would test them someday.
