HORI Fighting EDGE

I really hope your assumption is correct with the fight pads, having a domestically available easy pad hack (assuming they’re as straightforward as the last gen pads) would be great.

IIRC, the lastgen PDP stuff was problematic to padhack/work with. I don’t know if that will change with the newgen MKX pad release. Assuming Madcatz doesn’t release a new fightpad line (I’d still bet money that they will), the PDP line will have to suffice. I have two FEs (ps3 and x360 respectively). My plan is to dualmod a PS4/3 into the 360FE and a 360/One into my PS3FE. This way I pretty much cover my bases for nextgen. Heck, lastgen I didn’t even have an X360, but I have friends who did/do. X360 versions of any joystick was about 10x easier to get up on running on PC though.

I was referring to the Madcatz ones, you’re correct about the PDP ones being troublesome for dual mods.

Does anyone in here mod the Fighting Edge to work for all systems and keep the light up options? I am interested in ordering one and having this done. If anyone can email me or message me on here who does it I would appreciate it.

Hello… i have a fighting edge for xbox 360… i wan dual mod for ps4 whith hori fps 4. . Is posssible? Is there any tutorial? Full panel tactil? Thank… sorry for my inglish

The fps4 pad isn’t common ground so it can’t be used to dual mod.

I tore a FPS controller apart and I can tell you that the Hori FPS controller is not suitable for dual-mods.

Sorry, new to the whole dual mod thing, so in layman’s terms, the ps3 version of the Hori fighting edge is not particularly harder to mod than any other stick?

So I’ve read like, 10 threads asking if the FE can be dual modded and the general consensus has been yes, but you lose some functionality.

So I just want to ask if there’s a way to dual mod and keep all the functionality, I believe someone said I could piggyback a ChImp board or parallel install or something, but I have no Idea what that means.

Edit: Oh, and the main functionality I want to keep is remapping the buttons straight on the stick.

Well, “all” functionality with it is two different things. Do you want to re-program the buttons? Assuming you want just PS3 and X360 functionality, you can do that. But if you don’t care for that, you can dualmod it just fine. Gummo finally released the solder points for both the Start and Select/Back buttons a little while back. Everything else is pretty straight forward on the PCBs.

So there is no way to be able to keep the remapping function of the stick when I dual mod?

Not unless you dualmod with two FE pcbs. You’d have to ask Gummo if there’s anything more to it than 1P>1P, Up>Up, etc. You could just dualmod with your “remap” in-mind, but then you’re stuck with that. I personally just changed the button layout to “controller” over that stupid “arcade stick” setup the manual way.

Hmm, alright. I sorta wish for tournament play TO’s would use PC’s, but that’s never going to happen.

“There is only one way to keep all the features and it would only work on the ps3. That would be to still keep the original pcb wired up along with the ps360+. You’d end up having to use the original usb cable for just the Fighting Edge pcb to play on ps3 and then a second usb for 360.”

Found this on a Focus Attack ticket, is there instructions on how to go about this?

Read that closely. Maybe a couple more times. If you have a PS3FE, you’d still get to use ALL the features of the FE, assuming you use the stock cable. You can dualmod a ps360+ into the FE, use all the buttons, but no button remapping. There are no second discussions about this anymore.

Simply put: Want ALL the features (button remap) and have it work with both x360/ps3? Have to use 2x FE pcbs. Want a straight up dualmod and don’t care for button remap? Works fine. Anything more and you simply will have to engineer something. If you lack the technical knowledge to do so, then stop thinking about it.

I mean, how do I wire up the ps360+ to use for x360, i know what i read.

Add a USB cable

Thanks.

The PS360+ will auto-detect if you are using a PS3 or Xbox 360.
You just need to wire the buttons and joystick to the appropriate terminals and plug in a USB cable
The USB cable can end in either a USB type B connector or a RJ45 plug (it would not matter).

No, I mean putting a ps360+ in while the original PCB is still in so I can keep the functionality for PS3/PC. I just need a stick that works on the 360 so i can stop using that shitty controller.
