HORI Fighting EDGE

Oops my mistake. You are correct Hustle Kong thanks for the reminder.

So I can’t seem to find a straight answer but is the FE dual-moddable? And even if it is, you would look the touch panel compatibility, correct? I want one, but am not sure how comfortable I am with a single console stick O.O

  1. Should be able to, mounting screws on the H plate match the JLF plate.

  2. Yes, they’re 30mms buttons.

Hello. I need a little help. My fighting edge came in today, so i Switched out some of the buttons with the black kuros, but some of the nuts that held the screws in place fell out. Was this supposed to happen? How should I go about fixing this?

Pretty common. The NX/N3 HRAP among others has the same issue. I used a bit of superglue on the nut and dropped it in the hole. Then I pressed it down a bit and let it cure for a few hours. After that make sure to run the bolt through it and pull it out. Make sure there is no wetness in the bolt. Let the glue cure for a few more hours andvyou don’t have to worry about it again.

Thanks. I’ll give that a try when I get off work.

@HORI (U.S.A.) Inc.

Will you be selling white fighting edges at Evo this year?

Will the white fighting edge ever sell in Canada?

I doubt it. Hori often ignores the US market, and too often Canada and Europe gets completely overlooked.

If we’re talking licensed anime/fighting game joysticks, then yes, the US DOES get ignored but that’s often because the franchises are not well-known in the US and there would be no point in spending money to sell 10 ā€œanime artā€ joysticks in the US.

The Arcana Heart 2 joystick was never marketed to the US despite the FIRST AH game itself showing up (and selling 10 copies total in the US!)… likewise with the AH3 joysticks and the BlazBlue joysticks Hori produced. A lot of the pre-HRAP V3/VX joysticks did make it into US import shops. The BlazBlue HRAP V3 joystick was the only HRAP V3 variant I ever saw carried by a store in the US… After that, the ā€œanime artā€ joysticks were pretty much not directly imported into the US again. (I’ve noticed that after 2010 US game import shops have gotten more gun-shy about importing limited edition/character art joysticks.) Every character art release has been limited production but some like the VF 5 HRAP V3 joystick were VERY limited US releases and Hori US webstore-only.

We possibly could have seen Street Fighter IV HRAP-lite/licensed joysticks released by Hori in the US but I think A) they weren’t set up as well for the US back then; and B) it’s possible Mad Catz got an exclusive license to sell SF IV-branded joysticks in the US. (I think that’s what happened but my memory’s fuzzy on that one… Markman would know!) The first Mad Catz TE joysticks officially sold in Asia I believe were the generic white ones with the circuitry art. The ā€œwhite circuit artā€ TE’s never got official US releases; they were Asia-only. The original Mad Catz SF IV-themed TE’s had to be imported into Asia as well…

There were a LOT MORE peripheral manufacturers in the 1990s than there are now. A bunch of companies have ceased making product directly for game consoles or rebranded themselves (Pelican => PDP).

Hori still shows up a lot but mainly making things like screen protectors and stylus pens for portable game systems in the US. Those are much easier sells than $100+ joysticks. I’ve never seen their joystick hardware in game stores that much to be honest… not even in the 1990s although there were definite US stick releases on the PS1 and Saturn back in the day. I owned the domestic releases of the Namco Joystick and Hori Fighting Stick SS in the past. The US just isn’t their primary selling territory but I think it’s become more important in the past few years. The PS3 wasn’t nearly as popular as the PS2 in Japan… they definitely needed to expand outside of Japan and the US makes most sense as it’s the biggest console gaming market, period. How well they’ve succeeded, I don’t know.

Never say never on White Fighting Edge releases, btw.

The White Fighting Edge is now selling through Amazon.ca =>

You have to check Hori USA’s Facebook page… they make announcements there all the time!

Also, GameStop Canada is starting to carry more Hori product, too…

GeorgeC is information central

Eh,

I don’t exactly live to serve but I’ll share info when I come across it.

I’m not exactly Mr. Social Media guy, either – I sort of hate Twitter, Facebook, and so on – but fact is that’s how a lot of information is getting passed on now.
I can see why Hori hasn’t put this on their US website (!) but it could have been posted more clearly… at least where more gamers are likely to see it.

(And yes, last I checked, Amazon.ca is also sold out of White Fighting Edge’s… Sorry!)

Hori really kind of needs to change some things, honestly.
For all the bashing Mad Catz and Markman get, they’re generally better at getting this kind of information across to people who actually buy joysticks.

One thing I will say in Hori USA’s defense… some of the criticism on their Facebook site is just mean-spirited. One guy posting from Brazil was downright racist to be honest. Very, very ugly commentary from a bitter, ugly individual. It’s one thing to have a bad day – everybody does(!) – but that kind of hate isn’t pretty. I honestly don’t get where that is coming from.

Hori’s distribution just isn’t as big as Mad Catz’s… Frankly, if you don’t live in the US or Japan, getting ahold of joysticks is harder in general – especially if you want limited edition joysticks, older, rarer production parts or the Hayabusa (for the moment).
It’s a good sign that Hori’s is supplying Taito (Viewlix) panels with Hayabusa and Kuro parts in Japanese arcades. There’s greater likelihood (I would think) that the parts will become available through the usual arcade parts vendors in the future… I won’t name names but I know one parts vendor was talking about discussions to try to carry at least the Hayabusa in the near-future. Again, better to keep the mouth shut on this. We could be talking about another 18 months to two years before Hori’s supplying Hayabusa’s to more parties than they are now.

Does anyone know if a 6-button plexi for the fighting edge exists, or where it can be made?

I didn’t see the post you are talking about but, as a Brazilian, I apologize for what that guy said. I hope you guys don’t think all Brazilians are like that. Sadly, the bad ones keep causing trouble.

Of course not all Brazilians are bad guys!

Don’t take that as a criticism of yourself and an entire country.
You can’t control what the other guy did anymore than what I type.
Only the person typing in the comments can control what they put up for everybody else to see.

The way I see things in the world now, no nation or group of people has a ā€œlockā€ on stupidity… it’s everywhere.
That’s also true for goodness and general decency. That part is easy to forget with the media focus on negativity and materialism.

Hey everyone. I have used the search engine to death. Can I put and LS 32 in this stick?

Yes

Be careful of one thing…
You’ll probably have to use a different Mounting Plate to install the LS-32-01 than what the LS-32-01 uses in 99% of the other joystick cases on the market.
According to the early reviews of the Fighting Edge, one of which is here => www.levelup-series.com/hori-innovates-once-again/ , you have to use the Seimitsu RE: Mounting Plate to install the LS-32-01 in the Fighting Edge. The SS Mounting Plate that the LS-32-01 ships with installed is not compatible with the Fighting Edge according to reviews of Fighting Edge preview units.
You either have to buy the RE: Mounting Plate by itself or buy the PCB model of the LS-32 that ships with the RE: Mounting, the LS-32-02. Paradise Arcade Shop sells LS-32-02. http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/cocktail-joysticks/41-seimitsu-ls-32-02-arcade-joystick.html Most people aren’t even aware that this configuration of LS-32 exists…

Very informative thank you.

Fuck Hori for making the white one so hard to get for Canadians. It’s gone from amazon.ca with no mention of whether or not it will ever be back.

random question, but does hori sell a bag for the fighting edge? or does anyone know of any good alternatives? the fighting edge doesn’t fit into my bag
