It was a small time Community college Anime Club tourney, The one person who spoke on my behalf stated, âif you were so good, [they] would not consider [my] custom controller a threatâ.
Yeah they were scrubs, talking shit how they are top tier players but is threaten with the one guy with a octogate. The dude ended up telling them to shut up when the scrubs never even heard of this site or Evo.
Oh man, I still donât have enough money for a stick, and they release the white Fighting Edge. That extended Noir/Astro City layout is a dream compared to the average TE2 Viewlix. Say, is there word of a North American release, or maybe even a slight possibility we could see the Hayabusa/Kuro on their own?
i have a question, im about to swap a jlf into my hori, i still do not know if this is common ground or not. because i feel the square gate in sanwa joysticks ae different than the hayabusa stick in hori! Anyone input that âactually knowsâ is much appreciated! Also, majority of people in the US started on 8 way and 360 joysticks with circular gates so their info is indeed wrong!
It is why people should read the whole thread before posting and asking questions.
If you scroll all the way back to page 2, jdm714 has pulled out and examined the joystick.
As you can see the Hayabusa/Kuro Joystick uses the same 5 pin wire-harness the Sanwa JLF and most Seimitsu joysticks and even some Qanba made joysticks uses
well for one ive read this whole thread and that was a prototype!(so you need to thoroughly read the thread)
and ive got my answer thru PM so no need to be an ass! But, thank you for the response!
Yes I know JDM had a prototype version. The final release still looked the same.
Another source on the tear down
Looks just like JMDâs Hori joystick.
And from studding the wiring it is common ground not common line
The com terminal all have the same color wire, why woundât the stick be common ground then if rest of the controllerâs wiring is color coded.
Not selling Hayabusa Stick and Kuros sound very stupid. Very.
But if the guys that decided this are the same that thought FE remap button feature would have fixed the tournament button check annoyance⌠It all makes sens finally.
Question: can you blink (plink jab with back button) on the PC version? I set the LB button to back using the config mode, but I canât seem to get jab to plink.
Did you READ what Darksakul said about people NOT understanding basic electrical theory let alone the fact the buttons used in most joysticks are plug-in and easily removable???
Iâm sorry but as Iâve seen more and more a lot of people coming to SRK cannot handle basic mods like soldering wiring or swapping out joysticks! Itâs sad to say but many people cannot read instructions let alone bother to use the FAQs and stickies to find answers to their questions. That percentage who cannot handle mods has to be well over 50% from what Iâm seeing. There is a relatively small percentage who actually do mods that are as involved as completely gutting out the existing electronics and clone parts and installing a third party PCB and arcade stock parts.
The job of learning modding has been made even easier by all the tutorials on YouTube going over basic stick mods but still a high percentage of the same guys who canât handle written instructions canât even handle this stuff when theyâre led through it by hand (on video)!
If little old me and Darksakul and any number of older SRK members are seeing this individually, how the hell is it to Horiâs or any other stick manufacturerâs benefit to hold Hayabusaâs and Kuroâs in-stock when a) you have such a large number of people who are utterly clueless about simple electronic/joystick repairs and b) there are already plenty of stores specializing in selling arcade parts that the knowledgeable among us will most likely go to for spares and repair parts???
I think Hori knows what itâs doing⌠Theyâve been in the market of producing joysticks for home consoles for over 20 years now! IF they were as stupid or as arrogant as some people think, theyâd be teetering on the edge⌠Theyâre not â not even with Mad Catz nipping at their kneels and ready to kick them in the !#$ if they really fumble things. I donât think thatâs even happened. If anything, Hori has become BETTER since Mad Catz came onto the scene.
The other thing to consider is that the number of Fighting Edge joysticks is still small relative to the number of HRAPâs and Mad Catz joysticks sold that have Sanwa parts. Sanwa is in no danger of being displaced as the standard parts vendor for joysticks anytime. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of times more Sanwa-equipped joysticks than there are Hayabusa/Kuro joysticks out there. For Hori to do what some people want â selling the FE parts separate from the joystick itself --, those parts would have to be a hell of a lot more popular than what Iâve seen so far⌠and believe me, as much as Iâm a fan of Seimitsu product, I donât see them displacing or becoming half as popular as Sanwa is right now, eitherâŚ
Not that it helps matters, and I donât know if this has been announced anywhere on SRK yet,
but pre-orders are open for the White Fighting Edge now⌠Caught a blurb on the Facebook (USA) page of Hori. Theyâre selling it in the US. Both the PS3 and XBox 360 versions. Horiâs website has a Dec 31 availability date.
Didnât think they would do it.
I guess the marketâs still there for a white FE.
Good luck with a software patch to use that on the PS4!
The original black version seems to be unavailable now. (Didnât say discontinued BUT considering the white one is there nowâŚ!) Might have gone out-of-production already.
Competition is always BETTER than having a market ruled solely by one company.
I, for one, WELCOME more companies if it keeps everybody more honest, forces prices to be competitive (and more affordable), AND makes the final product more reliable and durable.
Weâll see what happens next yearâŚ
I donât think joysticks will kick up into production anything like the PS3/360 cycle did (after SF IV released in 2009) until the second year of the PS4 and XBox One.
It comes down to the games and whether or not gamers will buy whatâs been offered.
If itâs all just a modest upgrade of SF IV I have my doubts about whether that will fly with gamers.
Joystick sales will follow the games.
SF like it or not, is the flagship fighting gameâŚ
I know from the past that SF IIâs popularity went down quite a bit with the miniscule upgrades between versions. HAD the series gone from SF II: World Warrior to at least Super SF II: The New Challengers without the other games in-between, the story might have ended differently. Capcom instead went the âEA routeâ with upgrades in its fighting games so it doesnât surprise me that weâre now up to version 4.0 with SF IV. Yes, while there were other fighters like the SNK games, Mortal Kombat, and a ton of original console fighters, those games and even the later CG fighters (VF, Tekken, Soul Edge) had nothing like the impact of SF II. While the fighting game genre persisted throughout the 1990s, the end of the decade was nothing like the beginning with the debut of SF II.
I can certainly understand why there wasnât much to offer this Christmas season what with the transition in the consoles and all. It certainly makes sense NOT to go overboard with production with the amount of uncertainty in the air.
Plus how many fighting games are actually available on the new consoles⌠2, maybe 3 or 4 between the new consoles, and only one ISNâT a modest upgrade of an existing PS3/360 fighter???
Thinking of getting a White FE, I miss owning one but has anyone successfully dual modded the 360 version? Iâm in the debate whether I want a 360 or PS3 version for next gen use and these are conflicts Iâm having:
-PS3 version has no limit to âconfiguration modeâ, will dual modding enable this feature in 360 mode without X, Y, A, B locked out like the 360 version.
-I wonât have a pad(hack) inside the 360 version leaving room for next gen mods(Xbone & PS4)
Yea dual modding, what would happen if I were to dual mod a ps3 fighting edge, like would i not be able to pause on the 360 side, or would the led lights not work for 360? Sorry if these questions are dumb I have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to stick modding, and this is a pretty complex stick.
Let simplify thing then.
Ignoring the Touch panel for a moment, lets focus on the Joystick and buttons first.
The buttons and joystick are traditional format Japanese style parts, Sanwa and Seimitsu parts should be easy drop-in replacements.
For the main 8 buttons just use your preferred color 30 mm Sanwa or Seimtisu buttons. The Wiring is easy as every button is attached to quick-disconnects.
You could write down what color wire goes where or change the buttons out one at a time.
As for the Joystick, what are you trying to accomplish. If it is just a ball top change, those are easy. The Ball top screws out, there is a slot in the bottom of the joystick shaft you put a flat head screw driver in so the shaft do not spin as you try to remove the ball top.
Dual Mod? So you want to add Xbox 360 compatibility? You need a PCB (printed circuit board) from a Xbox 360 controller, you can do a pad-hack and then dual mod or you can swap out the PCB for a PS360+ PCB.
That said a Xbox 360 dual-mod is easier, as you just can add one of the following, a Cthulhu, Chimp, Cerberus or some other PS3 compatible PCB.
Either way you do it, the system you are adding is not going to take advantage of the touch panel, and the PS360+ is going to eliminate your use of the panel all together.
