HORI Fighting EDGE

Has anyone been able to change/reverse the LED’s on this stick? I want the sides to light up red instead of blue. I assume there is already red LED’s on the side panels since it flashes red when it vibrates. Seems like it may be a simple wire switching, but hell if I know.

Reallyyyy hoping someone knows how to do this.

No promises, but I’ll see what I can do about putting Syn13’s Fighting Edge template online within the next day…

IF someone can recommend a good, FREE server for image hosting, I can get it up in PSD format as opposed to flattening it out as a JPEG or something else tragic…

Syn’s template is the one I used to make my own FE theme…

Got a Mediafire account so that I could post Syn13’s Fighting Edge image Template…

Use this to plan art for the joystick!

I just got this stick a couple days ago. Making the switch from pad to stick has been very hard, but fun as well. Is this any way to disable the buttons? I would like to disable the L1/R1 buttons if possible (without actually taking them out).

Easiest way to disable the buttons in any game – aside from physically removing them, taking the wires off the terminal tabs – is to disable the buttons you want disabled with the control options menu. You’ll have to do that for every game but that’s an available option for about every major fighting game.

The only thing that’s holding me back from getting this stick is the lack of replacement for parts… I hope hori would do something about it

Good stick, two reports of buttons failing have scared everyone into believing every button will fail the same way.

Read here:

I don’t ever want to read a review on that site again.

Not because of the comments or score, but the constant “quotes” somehow made me rage for how asinine they are.

I got an e-mail from Play-Asia about the “Hori Fighting Edge 3”.

No worries – it’s the same joystick they released last year. Just a new production run.

Might be Japan only… New production run units should be out by June this year.

Is the FE the only stick that allows you to map the back button to the main 8 buttons?

(double post - sorry I didn’t see it!)

Is this true?

What’s so special about the stick that it costs 250$?

You can do it on other sticks with 10 minutes of wire-splicing, but the only one you can do it on-the-fly for AFAIK

I did not know the Fighting Edge has that function. Also learn to edit your post instead of double posting please.

On most sticks, even if you can’t Reprogram one of your 8 buttons to become Back/Select you can easily remap a button by swamping around the wiring.

Is one stick considered to be “the best”? I’ve been using this tournament edition SF4 fightstick :

On the madcatz site I see these new “tournament edition S+” sticks. What’s the difference between those and what I have? Also, is the Hori FE better than what I have too? I’m just curious as to what’s considered the best. Also, do horis use square gates by default too? Thanks

Most standard Japanese style joysticks have square gates by default.

Check out jdm714’s Photos on his post on PAGE 2 of this Thread

Careful, asking something like that here is like playing with gasoline during a fire storm.

Keep in mind, the opinion “what is considered the best” changes from person to person.
And Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.

Is the stick I have considered high tier? I just want to make sure that I won’t be limited by my hardware. I was using an octagon gate but I just switched it back to square. I think the square has more room to move without hitting the edges, which I need to practice doing, right? I’m not supposed to ride the gate, but I have a hard time understanding how its possible not to in the heat of battle. Thanks!

It has Sanwa parts. Be happy with that.

That gives me the impression that there is much better out there.
