HORI Fighting EDGE

Honestly, once I started using six bitton layouts instead of 8, any awkwardness from the Vewlix layout has disappeared.

I have PS3 FE, it’s great!!
Hayabusa stick is very responsive and feels easy to manoeuvre, Kuro buttons are good too.

But would like to be able to play it on 360 too. Anyone have any updates on PS3 > 360 adaptors that work on FE? (if not a dual-mod that supports all functions, although of course I’d prefer the former due to warranty)

Dual mod is possible, but currently beyond my skill without a long hard look at the PCB’s with a multimeter and some mental arithmetic. The problem is the touch panel…

Currently all the available adapters are either rubbish or crazy expensive.

I am surprised no one knows of a way to get around the 360 version’s abxy reassignment limitation.

you could physically reassign them yourselves by taking off the top plate and moving the wires

^That’s the only way, the Xbox 360’s version is program locked in the PCB unlike the PS3 version.

what is LS-43? some kind of mod? i assume it’s LS-40 and something else?

lol I think I was tired that night, it’s supposed to be a LS-32(although I have been swapping around between that, LS-56 and a JLF).

It’s not just that for me. The button layout helps much more (I main blanka and pianoing feels more natural) but the main reason I love this stick is the hayabusa placement. I always felt the viewlix was too close.

Also seems like the hayabusa is taller than the jlf which makes a huge difference to me since I have big hands.

I’m really thinking of selling my custom vs pro to get another fighting edge.

hey people,
I just got my FE a few day ago and something bother me so I would like to ask if anyone else has the same issues.
I’ve been using TE for a long time and my input is fine but with the new Hayabusa stick which is supposed to be more responsive
I often miss moves.
I went in training mode and test my input most of the time df p1 side doesn’t come out unless I push the stick all the way to the corner
is this what they mean more smoother input and more responsive or my stick has a problem?
also I have the ps3 version tried to have a couple match on pc and ps button doesnt work as home button?

Having a strange issue with my Hayabusa out of the box.

The Hayabusa seems to get stuck in specific movements, most notably down or up. If I don’t ride the gate, it seems to have an issue fully engaging, yet if I do ride the gate it will randomly stick here and there causing a lot of frustration on my end.

Did I get a defect, or is there some fix I need to go about doing? Like deconstructing it or snipping some faulty excess plastic/etc.

Would love to use the stick, otherwise seems perfect as I’m more accustomed to Seimitsu’s anyway, would hate to just toss an LS-40 and never fully utilize Hori’s work.

has anyone gotten the 360 version of the FE working with the pc? i’ve seen people say theirs work out of the box, people say theirs don’t work. mine fails to install the drivers & claims there aren’t any.

Sup people, I need some help with my Fighting Edge. Went to a tournament last night, Edge’s lights were working just fine, noticed the top left LED was going light blue, then the right one started flickering, then both sides started flickering. Now the top left one is out, and the rest just rapidly flicker.Ā

Opened it up, reseated all plugins, still no go.Ā
everything else works fine.Ā

Anyone have this happen to them, or know where I can purchase a PCB? I love the stick. It’s not the LEDs, nor the cables. I’m think it’s the PCB

Get in contact with Hori and see what they say…

I doubt you’re going to get a current FE owner to part with their stick’s PCB.

Hori being useless (if that’s case) in providing a replacement PCB, you’re looking at A) buying a new FE if you’re that crazy about the joystick;

OR B) contacting one of the resident electricians/electric engineers that frequent these boards and see what they have to say.

Ā I don’t know if ANY of the reliable third party PCB’s can be used to replace an original FE PCB and keep at least the [Start], [Home], AND LED functions.Ā Obviously, you would at least lose the customization feature that comes with the original Hori FE PCB.Ā I couldn’t begin to tell you what would be needed to keep the LED’s functional.Ā I was under the impression that LED support was possible with some PCB’s (Cthulu line perhaps?Ā Not as a controller but voltage supply?) but marginal with others.Ā You’d have to get a programmable LED PCB controller at the least and jury-rig/figure out how to use an existing button (the ā€œcrossā€ button?) on the FE to toggle LED’s on/off.

Obviously, the FE would never be the same without the kind of Hori PCB it came with.
I’m sure Toodles or jdm might have ideas on what could be done with an FE in your situation…
:V I want the price to drop before picking this up…

I doubt the price will drop unless Hori decides to dump a bunch of joysticks on third party distributors. That would probably be prior to Hori discontinuing the joystick or going with a new run/alternate art design of the FE;so far the latest word from Hori has been that they consider the case design initiated with their SC V release the ā€œnew HRAPā€ but nothing about the future/new releases of the FE since last year.

I haven’t seen any sales or markdowns on the FE unlike the earlier HRAP’s or Mad Catz’s top-line joysticks.

Even the MC VS-series gets the occasional $140 sale during tournament events.

Your right about that V.S. , thats when I nabbed mines. Well I look really dandy tho and I would really just love to have one even if I don’t play on it alot…its really kind of a work of art. But the $200 is still kinda hard to swallow and these new issues that have been popping up are kinda detouring me.

Agreed…

Darn shame.

Next to the Diamond HRAP VLX, the FE is the Hori joystick I looked forward to the most!
(My joystick buying – and parts buying – has been pretty muted the last 18 months… The Diamond VLX was THE birthday gift last year!)

I sort of expected problems with the FE. The stresses on the PCB because of the LEDs have to be much more than other Hori joysticks. (Although it should be said that more problems appear to be popping up in the Hori brand – or it just more people being pickier and nagging things to death??!??!? Hori’s rep doesn’t seem to be as cleanly smooth as it was a few years back. There seem to be more quality control problems since the HRAP V3’s and VX’s debuted a few years back.) Should have kept it simple but then again the LED is one of the big draws for the joystick besides the new Hori parts.

If you think $200 is hard to swallow, Foehammer is selling a joystick that’s retail $369! I just don’t see a lot of people getting what with much cheaper options out there OR bigger joysticks available for less money. The HRAP VLX was $50 cheaper when it debuted and even the Diamond VLX is $20 cheaper for a lot more joystick (case!) than a Foehammer.

Yeah I seen the Foehammer on FocusAttack’s front page, I initially thought it maybe too expensive but seeing what is in it(Akishop PCB, Silent Sawna’s) I’m kinda inclined to say that it justifies it’s price…maybe.

I do like bigger joysticks tho, like the V.S. feels right, but the FE also very nice. The LED lights are pretty cool to be on during a night session, and the touch panel gimmick is also rather cool…seems sooo…modern! you know with all the smartphone and tablet tech thats common these days, you would figure Fightsticks would kinda evolve this way(full touch pad to replace buttons? that would be somethin’). But I also kinda fell in love with modding sticks too, even though im a beginner at it.

Im still hoping that Hori would so some sort of promo for NCR or if we wait long enough~ EVO for a FE discount~ heck if its a $40 discount with free shipping, I’d jump on it~

Hello, SRK’ers, I’m wondering, since the official template thread isn’t listing it, whether there’s an updated version to the HORI Fighting Edge Template. I plan on getting one myself soon, and I have this awesome idea in my head involving Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. Also, where should I go if I want to figure out what layer to put the art in on a PSD file?
