any pcb pictures of fighting stick mini?
would have love to have seen a disassembly of the stock lever itself, mainly the pivot part. they were touting how it uses the same V-shaped pivot similar to hayabusa.
thanks jasen nice video, I was hoping if someone would take one apart to see, im thinking about doing it for my spare case
So, the Fight Stick mini uses the same Panasonic switches as the Hayabusa. Cool.
Did anyone here grab the new pad? what are your thoughts on it and how loose would you say the d-pad is? I own the PS3 Gem Pad that has a similar d-pad (if not the same one) and it’s super loose.
The Gem pad is ass.
I know its similar to some previous incarnations but has anyone put their hands on the new one yet? I liked the FC4 but the D-pad kept on moving on me. I had to re-tighten it after every match which really sucked. I let my brother borrow it a few times (who is heavy handed) but one day of heavy use should not have loosened it to that extent. I had just purchased it a few days before so I was able to return it.
Has anyone played on the HORI Fighting Stick mini yet? Are the joystick and buttons garbage? I like small sticks so if the original parts are good it’s a must buy. If they suck then I could mod it but I would prefer a good small stick out of the box.
It’s as good as the 3. It’s OK but far from my favorite.
Got mine today.
Good build quality, good parts, but too small for me to play on.
I’ve decided I won’t sacrifice it though, and keep it as an occasional stick.
Shame the PCB is soldered to the buttons, would be good for lazy people like me to rip it out and put it in another stick if it had QD’s. B)
Good thing the Button PCB is not the same board as the main PCB.
I don’t think anyone considering trying to swap parts realizes just how small the Mini is.
The Mini 4 uses the exact same base as the Mini 3. The face is 8.25 inches wide, and a little under 6 inches from top to bottom. There’s only about 1.25 inches from the surface of the base to the bottom, so there’s barely any room to work inside. The buttons themselves are about 18mm in diameter. The included balltop is smaller than the typical 35mm, but slightly larger than the 30mm size that you can order from a variety of places.
That being said, this is a great little spare stick imho. This is not your player 1 stick, this is for when the occasional player 2 comes over, or for when you want a stick for that little gathering but don’t want to pack anything big or heavy. I’ve brought my Mini 3 around to conventions, etc. and haven’t regretted it. Played a few hours of Tekken Unlimited last week with my new Mini 4, and I’d say that just about all of my moves came out exactly as I expected (and the ones that didn’t were generally my own fault). If you’d rather use a tiny stick than a gamepad, this is your tiny stick.
The Mini 3’s parts (lever & buttons both) feel almost exactly like Hori’s standard consumer-grade parts, used for years in their Fighting Stick line (and, the buttons used in the non-SA/SE HRAP 3/EX models). They are smaller, but if you’re familiar with those previous models, they will feel fairly familiar to you.
I will say that the Mini 4’s parts definitely feel different from those in the 3, though the size is identical. The buttons feel a bit more sensitive, not as much as the Kuro but a bit more than the previous parts. The lever feels somewhat tighter and requires more force to engage. Despite these differences, they still feel more like the old Hori parts than the Hayabusa/Kuro found in more premium models.
Other differences, going from the Mini 3 to the Mini 4:
This Mini is just a PCB to me. No way would I ever let anyone play with that thing in my house. Call me a snob.
So I got the Pad today, like I stated before, it’s the exact same as the OG Fighting Commander 3, very uncomfortable to hold, d-pad is average at best, only new feature is that L1 and L2 can now be changed to L3 and R3.
So unless you plan to use this controller claw style, I’d suggest that you get the Fighting Commander 4 instead.
Anyone know where I can buy this pad in Europe, shipping to Sweden? Amazon.co.uk does not seem to ship to outside of the UK for this item.
