I dunno. The price on this new model kinda’ worries me. The big reason why I bought the previous Fighting Commander 4 is that Hori finally fixed the flimsy rubber membrane issue. So far I’ve used the controller for about 6 months and no problems. I don’t even see this new model on their site and for all I know they cheaped out on the rubber membrane again. I’ll play wait and see.
I live the irony of mocking weaboos (or however you spell it) while holding up more nerds (albeit nerds sans asinine cosplay crap) and anime characters as as the ideal of cool.
Agree on the ‘wait and see’ front. That said, you can find the revised controller on hori.jp which makes sense because it’s (apparently) only been announced for Asian markets at the moment. Though interestingly the price difference on Hori’s site (4298yen vs 4860yen) isn’t as much as the price difference between the models as on play-asia ($29.99 vs. $44?).
looks like the fighting stick mini 4 will have the same “v-cut” pivot that the hayabusa has. should be interesting if the joystick inside is actually a low-profile hayabusa…
A lot of games on PC (I’d say from mostly lazy developers) only read inputs from Xinput controllers. So, if you don’t rebind the keys through Xpadder or Joy2Key you’re fucked. The 360 controllers use Xinput. But it’s somewhat pointless to have XInput for a controller without analog sticks but the couple of 2D games on Steam that are Xinput only are less of a bitch to use a controller on.
When I opened up my FS mini 3, I noticed that the lever’s housing, while very similar to the housing in the other inexpensive Hori sticks (FS3, etc.) and the Namco, was a slightly smaller size, and I couldn’t interchange them. Don’t know if that will ring true for the new one.
Unfortunately the only thing that looked moddable on the FS mini 3 was the balltop, heh.
Definitely getting the new one, though. It’s so freaking cute and the portability can’t be beat.
So if I buy an FS Mini 4, I couldn’t just fit Sanwa buttons and a Sanwa/Hayabusa lever in it? Is it too small, or is there a different issue? I’m looking for a PS4 stick to mod the PCB out of, and Mini 4 is the cheapest option around here. I’d like to have something I can use at all in the end though, and it does look super portable.
